What a great pub...like stepping back to the 1970's, but just with the good bits. Great honest food - even has one dinner item that brags about having no salad. Can also be used for functions... indoor and classic outdoor settings. Staff always up for a chat. Can't fault...

This place has new owners I went in expecting the old school pub style meal came out with this was ok but miss the old style will come back

Yea we dropped in for a couple beers. There was a bit of a snack on the bar and the sfaff just kept bringing more snacks out. We arrived at 5.30 and left at 7.30. There was a function on in the restroom but they were doing meals in the bar, that was good. Staff were good and service good. Plenty of parking but we found it cold in there and only 12 deg outside. Yea welcome to Dunedin summer

The lady at the hotel we are staying at recommended the Wharf Hotel because we wanted to try the blue cod. The menu was limited but the cod was lovely. Not keen on the white bait patties I think N Z needs to broaden their horizons and give those tasty little fish an opportunity to shine. Tasted more like egg than fish. Whilst the cod was wonderful we were left with a bad taste in our mouth by the table next to us. They were obviously locals. They were talking quite loud and gossiping and giving their uneducated opinion of what their "friends" should or shouldn't do. Apparently some poor lady has had a mental breakdown but they can't understand why because she has everything. News flash she is probably suffering from having people like you in her life. Then they had the gaul to decide that Maori people should not be able to win lotto WTF? Thank goodness that sort of bigotry is not common anymore. Would rather cut my arm off than listen to people like you who need to get a life of their own and leave the rest of the world alone. Shame on you.
