usually go here. ordered cheesy wheezeys that are 99% perfect. but when I ordered them on Sunday the cheese was ice cold and the chips were semi warm. so the cheese had not melted at all.

Great food, really great service. Ordered a cheeseburger and chips, were both hot and fresh and not at all soggy. Chips are towards the top of the range of chip shops I've been to. Staff are super polite and the food came out quite fast. There is nice outdoor seating which is lovely in summer. The menu has a good selection without having too many items - plenty of simple fish and chip type food with a few novelties as well. Highly recommend and will probably go back myself.

Tried 7 Different Chicken Burgers for lunch over a 7 day period to see who I thought had the best Chicken Burger going in Foxton both for value and quality. This Burger finished #2/7. The Chicken Fillet was cooked perfect a nice golden brown slightly crispy. A little to much salad which took the attention away from the Chicken fillet. The sauce complemented the the Chicken and salad. The Burger bun was slightly toasted to perfection. Great Burger diffidently worth the coin I paid.

Saturday family lunch at (not quite) the beach (due to wind). $22 dollar pack & two extra hotdogs to feed the crowd. Shop was clean & well presented, staff were friendly. Fish was crispy, not greasy at all & the best hotdog I've had in ages. A Foxton Fizz to wash it all down made it perfect. Would definitely return.

No grumpy people here quite the opposite ,very friendly staff. Being a local tradition that you can’t go to the beach without stopping here first for a feed before or after . A very extensive menu with 39 burgers on offer including ostrich which is very good and succulent. Delicious cheesecakes from Yummy Mummies which are very tantalising. They do provide a few tables outside if you prefer to eat onsite or sit on the grass area.

There is absolutely nobody in Palmerston North who comes within a mile of their quality & selection. Additionally, the customer service is of the highest calibre. We recommend all our guests who stay at our Motel, and are venturing to Foxton to definitely stop in and experience in my opinion the best fish and chips "hands down" We are all for helping to promote locally owned businesses who lift the profile of not only their townships, but also Aotearoa internationally. We stopped in Mr Grumpy for some fish and chips after driving down the Foxton Beach from the Himatangi beach access, itself a great drive along the sand. Mr Grumpy was not so grumpy, in fact very nice. We ordered Gurnard and "Blood and Guts Chips" , out of curiosity of the name. WOW!! is the best description. The fish was done to perfection, soft flakey and so very fresh. The Blood and Guts ? well , it consisted of nicely cooked potato chips with a tomato sauce par mixed with soar cream and grated cheese. Now the cheese I cant say what it was, Colby or Tasty not sure, I will say the entire sauce mix truly had the look of its name ( kids will love this I'm sure ) and tasted fantastic, suited Fish and Chips. My girlfriend and I could not get enough. Sadly we had already driven back up the beach to Himatangi to eat Mr Grumpy's delightful feast.

So Yum! Amasing Fish, its difficult to get great consistent fish usually however Mr Grumpy managed to not only achieve great consistant fish, but did so in their $5 packs! and we had a large group of 8 people! Clean Cooking, not at all greasy, perfectly cooked, Burgers are the real type, with healthy serving of salad in them. And to top it all off they provide free 🍋 lemons also. If in Foxton on a nice day pick up a Mr Grumpys and eat down the beach just along the road.
