We turned up for dinner without a booking a couple of days before Christmas, and after a short wait we were lucky enough to be seated. The service by all who dealt with us was on point, exceptional! The food was next level, massive servings packed with flavour leaving 3 of us very full and satisfied. I highly recommend the Lone Star Gisborne, you won't be disappointed.

Was my second night of dinning, staff are friendly and given we had no reservation we were quick to be seated. I had the spare ribs, 9 of them, with wedges and a lovely coleslaw, I confess, of the 9 supper big rids, I managed 4, but I did eat 80% of the coleslaw. The harbor view is lovely, and yes I'll be back tomorrow night. Will share photos from the first night too

If you are Lone Star fan then you will love it. Serving size is large and hearty. Too large for me. Location at the wharf is ideal for dining while the sun sets over the water.

Lone Star. Ribs. Winning combination. Never fails. I don’t go often, but when I do, I can never complain - except maybe if the portions are too big? But then they offer a takeaway container so it’s all good there too!

Auckland Anniversary weekend and down to Waipiro Bay/Te Puia Springs for the long one, on our way back surprised to find many of the eateries were shut for the public holiday on the Monday, hunted around and sure enough Lonestar was open and on a perfect hot sunny evening, grabbed a table and watched a bit of the NZ v IND ODI then secured a table outside for dinner, for her Classic Caesar salad & Steamed pudding, I had pan fried Tarakihi, capers and mash followed with Banoffi pie ... the desserts we redeemed on our Lonestar Loyalty phone apps free for both of us ... well delicious dinner and drinks - highly recommend you wont be disappointed ... Nga mihi nui!

Lonestar Gisborne was amazing 25/1/22 6.15pm last night. Special mention goes out to: the lovely lady who gave us such a beautiful warm Gizzy welcome (even though she looked like she was run off her feet); the barman who made our delicious mojitos and bounty hunters (so yummy); the chef who cooked our 3 x ribeye and sirloin steaks to perfection, with even our lamb rack expert connoisseur who told us it was the best he's ever had, and last but not least, Heath (our waiter) delivered fast, super-efficient, exceptional customer service way above and beyond all of our expectations (we all shook his hand repeatedly to extend our appreciation...you deserve a payrise mate, thank you so much). Thank you to all of you for helping make my 20th anniversary even more special, especially when we were relocated outside and got to take-in the most romantic-looking sunset in the world. ❤

I had shared snacks with a good friend when i had time to take in the harbour water views, flying fish breaching the water surface and Kaiti Hill. Was too late for dinner but the ribs with the famous Lone Star loaf was nothing short of spectacular. I was hungry and i usually feel my temper wanting to flair... A condition known as hangry. When we were minutes late for the kitchen and dinner no longer available... Just as well the snack menu was sufficient. Dare I say it, if the snacks menu had fallen short, i would engage the local Maori war dance... Kniwn commonly as the haka... If you havent seen one, pay attention to the All Black's Rugby team as they enthusiastically enter the rugby arena and prepare for battle... Albeit to my delight. I would have done a haka... Just as well Lone Star puts up a consistent standard of good food with decent proportions too. Otherwise I'll be jumping around with a protruding tongue, intense facial expressions and muttering in te reo about how appealing the staff would be in a hangi (traditional earth oven)... Dodged a situation there! 😂😂😂

Nice meal, except for the Coleslaw, too wet and it doesn't taste nice also service a little to be desired, no one came and asked if the meal was OK WHEN it was served, and we needed drinks top-up but no one around to take a second drinks order. Waitress disappeared and so we asked another staff member clearing nearby table.

Well...I have eaten here a few times but this time was was a little disappointed. Known, and advertised as having big portions, this time the meal felt like it was boutique size without any pretty...in other words...small and cheap but at expensive price. I guess it didnt help that, that day, after a big days work, I was pretty hungry. Also didnt help that the meal took a long time to come after ordering. Maybe it was just a bad day in the kitchen and they were getting light on steak. 😀 On the bright side, the location and view is awesome.

The space is very small and we had to walk through the main bar to get to the dining area, not good when you have 4 children under 5 in tow. The service was very slow but the meals were to die for. Thank goodness the meals were of a very high standard because our children were hungry, bored and tired, the food soon had them all quieten down. We were a large group of mostly adults so we ordered every main and dessert on the menu and so there was a little bickering about who ordered the best meal :) I highly recommend Lone Star Gisborne for anyone without children, or if you have children, go when no-one else is there.

An hours wait for a table (on a Wednesday night) so book in advance. Staff were below average to deal with and they seemed more inclined to ignore people waiting at the bar rather than serve them. Food was ok but nothing above your standard Lone Star restaurant quality.
