H.Sofra meals are fresh, delicious and beautifully presented. The segment of pita given with my order was a perfect way to compliment the generous potions of fresh local lamb.
K.A regular in our evening and sometimes lunch plans :) they even split a kebab for me so I can get hot sauce and my little guy gets none. Can't eat a large on my own, great value for money! A+ all the way!

A.Based on reviews I thought this was going to be a nice sit-down restaurant but actually it’s mainly a takeaway counter with some tables. I found the food to be average. The meat and sauces were decent, but the vegetarian platters a bit lackluster. I’ll probably try it again though.

L.amazing service the people are so kind and everything is always cooked perfectly and has lots of sause, truly the best turkish place I've ever been and the people that own the place are honestly so nice and always remember their customers. so much better than the wrap that is always dry and over priced and has terribly service.
A.You gotta have the baklava!!! The staff are nice tto, courteous, polite, and helpful. We go there all the time when we want something fresh and handmade yet affordable.

P.Excellent food, genuine and friendly service. By far our favourite casual eatery. We try to visit at least once a fortnight. The mixed grill is awesome, beautiful tender lamb and chicken strips with fresh salad plus rice and sides. Healthy, delicious and great value! J.Probably the worst turkish chicken on chips i've ever had. Paid extra for sauce and got barely any. The sauces were watery and it completely through the taste of the (unsalted) chips. Customer service was good hence this is not a 1*.
C.Great tasting food. I especially love the lamb kofte burger and fries. A little wait and pricey but it's what you expect to pay for quality food.

G.Looks like a good family business with really good food. I normally feel a little sluggish after a typical iskendar meal, but not here. It was lovely, fresh and I asked for extra meat and got it, unlike some other Turkish I've been too across NZ where they seem to forget you've paid extra for the privilege of extra meat. With the recent price hikes of other Turkish brands, this is excellent value also.

S.I really recommend the chicken burger & fries. It’s freshly cooked piece of chicken with a good amount of salad. The burger bun has a good amount of crunch.
My husband always gets an iskender. It’s served on a large plate with lots of sauces.
Have tried a kebab before but didn’t enjoy the filling. It looked authentic but not to my tastebuds. I think it was something eggplanty.
You can dine inside, it’s very spacious or outside on a lovely day.
There is a toilet in the rear of the restaurant for guests.

A.Great food. Lots of flavour very fresh. Great prices. Great service with a smile. And fast for take out. Great in dining experience too. Best healthy tasty food in Gisborne.
T.Highest quality meat. This is one of the best restaurants in Gisborne, but more importantly they have good knowledge about the farms where the meat comes from. I prefer the mezze plater, it comes with 2 types of meat. The chicken is delicious and the red meat is better than the expensive restaurants around. All in all excellent value for the price you pay.
R.You have to get in quick to get the lamb as it sells out fast but when they're in stock it's beautiful. Good big pieces of baklava too.

E.Best Turkish I have ever had - and I have had a lot! Definitely choose Sofra for your Turkish in Gisborne. The friendly owner of this independently-run restaurant sources his meat locally, produces his own delicious marinate and sauces from scratch. The falafels are also THE best - so fresh, super tasty, and not at all greasy. The falafel mix is made fresh each day - I asked!
