A.A great find in Gore! They cater for Keto really well and most items in the menu can be Keto-fied, like my burger! Really awesome selection of food and impressive decor. We will be back to try the dinner menu!
R.Simply Stunning ! Travel a fair bit with work and always enjoy my meals at Rustic Cafe and Restaurant. A real asset to Gore and a hidden gem indeed. Have tried many places whilst traveling the lower south island and this would easily be the best. Friendly owners and staff who have a real passion for what the do. The setting is something you simply wouldnt expect to see in Gore - Southland with a tasteful well set out decor that is first class. Food is something else, always consistently amazing and good sized portions. Desserts are a treat too. Always dine here when down this way. Keep up the amazing work guys !
m.Beautiful tastful decore meals were fantastic can't fault on that the only thing were only 2 people taking orders and serving could've done with another person wait for food was long would've given otherwise 5 stars

H.My wife and I lunched here today and although there wasnt exactly what we were looking for on the menu the owner and her waitress went out of their way to accommodate our requests. L.Just home from a lovely evening at Rustic. Of the 8 of us, only two had been before. We all had beautiful meals, the wait time was short and they all came out together, beautifully presented. Very attentive and efficient staff who kept a respectful distance and didn't make us feel rushed at the end of the night, realising we were having a good catch up. We will certainly be back. S.It was very quiet and clean place, however the owner keep interrupting us to order different things which was really uncomfortable and annoying.Also cocktails weren’t on the menu and the available options was explained by the owner. I ordered the fruity cocktail but wasn’t test fruit at all and low quality.
Also the tomato soup was too spicy for me.
j.not bad had a decent wait for our food enough to be like "g when is our food turning up" I had the BBQ ribs which were cooked well but in my opinion the sauce had to many tomatoes in it . wasnt a classic BBQ marinate but still pretty good. free coffee at the end pushed it from a 3 to a 3.5 . will.definitely come back to try the rest if the menu.
h.Warm and friendly venue, with good food. Seafood chowder was delicious and open chicken Sammy was served on great looking board and tasting great. However disappointed with service, we were never offered drinks and when I finally ordered a coffee my mocha was so bland and milky it was undrinkable, my hubby's flatwhite was not even close to a flatwhite, having to scoop 1/3 of the way through the cup of milk foam to get to the coffee. Food took nearly 40min to arrive which is not ideal for a nearly empty restaurant during our 1hr lunch break, once it arrives we were also never meal checked or offered more drinks etc. Have been here a few times now, food is always great but service is usually very average and slow.
P.Had a wonderful dinner at rustic cafe. Ordered steak and Cajun spice chicken. Both preparations were a culinary delight. There was a slight delay in our service due to bigger gatherings at the restaurants but the staff more than made up for it with warm hospitality. The owner showed keen interest in making sure everyone is enjoying their meals. Strongly recommended!
J.Stopped in this morning for breakfast at 11:58am, handed menu at 11:59, came back to take my order at 12:03pm but was told I could no longer order off the breakfast menu. Service was slow unfortunately, but the food was mostly great. I ran a beef burger operation complimented by some cross cut fries, sided with some aioli. 8/10 for the meal, 4/10 for service 5/10 for price (more of a $20.99 rather than a $24.99 meal) All in all will definitely go back maybe
D.Delicious dinner, excellent host. We came here for a Friday night dinner while on a farmstay. The owner/host was friendly and gave us excellent advice on the food offerings. The restaurant is a bit understaffed but we were well served and the personal service was a bonus. Good New Zealand options (lamb, beef, fish) with some South African options as well (including some excellent port that we enjoyed). We had the herb crusted lamb rack (smaller size) and an eye fillet steak perfectly cooked at medium rare. Excellent wine list with New Zealand, South African, and European wines.
Get this- the steak fries are the best we have probably ever eaten in our lives. Lightly fried, simply seasoned and perfectly crispy on the outside without being overly oily. Amazing. Forget the mashed potatoes (which were fine), get the fries!!!
Finished up with chocolate lava cake and cheesecake. The cheesecake was especially superb.
K.The staff and the owner (?) were lovely, service was good although the food took a long while to come out a, least 40 mins, but to their defense it was a busy night. We both ordered the pasta and it was very average. Prices seem a little exorbitant across the whole menu

The owner is the loveliest lady who strives to leave customers leaving happy, always going above and beyond by changing the meals to suit my wife’s dietary requirements. This is the modern twist to any other restaurant in gore, especially by catering to the game meats. Love it.

I.Stunning meal! Just had the pesto entree and it was mouth watering delicious. Had beef burger last night which was amazing. Delicious vegan selection as well & wheel chair access. Inside has a deep warm tone & a marvelous drinks menu. The staff is delightful and Marietjie is lovely. You will not be disappointed. Great place to have dinner then catch a movie across the road at St James theater, Gore. My favorite stop so far 🤩

R.We stumbled upon the town of Gore while vacationing on the south island of New Zealand. It was recommended to us by another local business owner that was helping us plan a trip to Doubtful Sound. He called the restaurant to set us up with a table, and since we were famished, we immediately found our way to this fantastic place. The service, the food, and the atmosphere was top notch! The menu choices were incredible, but we finally decided on the meatlovers platter for two. The Cajun chicken, the steak, the ribs, And the South-African sausage, were just amazing, and the dessert was out of this world! We even had a visit from Aaron, the nice businessman that was helping us plan our visit to Doubtful Sound. He was there picking up treats for his family, and came back to say hi! This town, the people, and dinner at the Rustic Cafe absolutely made our day, and was a significant highlight of our third visit to New Zealand. I honestly can't emphasize enough how special it was for both myself, and my wife. If you ever get to Gore, NZ, you simply must stop here. You will be quite happy you did, I'm sure of it. R.The food and coffee is excellent and presented to a high standard. Staff are friendly and obliging and host Marietje ensures that all guests are made to feel very welcome in her establishment.

Plenty of parking near by and open in the weekends which is a bonus for Gore.

b.Rustic is our go to in Gore. Husband is never disappointed with his steak meal. And I have always had delicious meals there lunch and dinner. Highly recommend.
A.The food and services all good but I advice everyone check the bill when paying. I got over charged in (at least) one item: The mushroom risotto was listed $19.99 on the menu but got $29.99 on my bill. I take that as an honest computer mistake and I don’t bordered to go back for it. Not sure about the other items as I don’t remember all the price on its menu.

As I have mentioned in my initial review that we have received good services and meals, and believed this was a honest computer mistake. I wish I have chance to come back and have meal again there but as a tourist just passing by this town, we have other places to explore. However I am feeling a bit sad that up to this point, your response is quite confrontational rather than admitting this was a mistake and apologize. Good Luck!
