Some friends and I had booked for here 2 weeks ago because we got some great recommendations.The place is fantastic as I expected. We all had our Entree, main and dessert. The dessert were very nice and the there is so many drinks to choose from. The staff were all very friendly and the food didn't take too long for the amount of people there.😅 Overall great service and food. Probably the best dining experience I have had in new zealand. 💯 I would love to come back with my family.

Sensational food & service. I had a delicious Raspberry, lemon G & T. We shared the Scallops and prawn dishes to start. For mains i had the Venison & my partner had the Lamb. These mains were out of this world. We will definitely be coming back

Offering a fine dining experience of a fusion between European/Asian cuisine, Chim Choo Ree is one of Hamilton's must visit restaurants. I was able to easily book my appointment over the phone. Upon arrival, friendly staff provided outstanding service and led us to our tables. For my birthday, I ordered an entrée of beef tartare, followed by a main of snapper with lemon cream pasta. The food was excellent but the wait times were unfortunately very long. We had to wait at least fifty minutes for the entrée, followed by another forty minutes for the main. I was able to leave very satisfied but I hope they could improve on their service times. Parking is spacious and the interior is immaculately modern. Would recommend!

We love this restaurant. My husband treated me for Valentine's day.The service as usual was attentive and courteous. The food entrees and mains were exceptional. We have had desserts here before but avoid them now as they are not up to the standard of the other courses. The yule log is a glorified Mars bar. I'm sure they could do better. The take away treat (for Valentine's?)of chocolate and walnut cookies was a fabulous and delicious surprise. The one black mark was the staff member behind the bar who wore his mask under his nose at all times and then handled it a lot even before opening wine bottles and handling glasses and pouring wine, and occasionally taking drinks to customers. Not good enough in these times, especially as all the other staff managed to wear their masks, an unpleasant thing for them to have to do in the heat.

I've been here a few times for dinner. It's a lovely setting for either business dinner, date or catch up with friends. They have good selection of wines, and nice options of mains and dessert. Staff are always friendly and helpful. I like it and would go again

Got a recommendation from a cousin so we came without booking but packed with lots of people we had to wait for a quite a long time but the food here was delicious which covered for the long wait. It felt great to be here, my family enjoyed dinner here also it has been a while since we ate something nice outside.

We had an amazing time at this restaurant! Staff were very welcoming and served us nicely. Food was very memorable with incredible and creative flavours but my favourite part about here was the wine. The staff definitely knew what they were recommending and it matched perfectly with out mains.

Amazing place with great hospitality, service and food. The place is vegetarian friendly and they had an option in every course. They even serve you a small dish when we come in that was a pleasant delight. The waiters are super friendly and very helpful to the questions I had with my food since I am very picky with what goes in it.

Went there last weekend with my family, the food is to die for and the customer service is very kind and friendly (even with masks on!) Nice good, lots of people and you can just hear other people enjoying themselves laughing which puts everyone in a good mood. Had such a great experience here! Just came for dessert but ended up staying for a beautiful dinner. Service is great, super welcoming, and the food was incredible. Had quite a long wait. Relatively expensive but absolutely worth it for what you get. I am vegan but there was food for vegans on every section which I loved.

Definitley great food and amazing staff. But unfortunately yes, you do need to get a entre, main and dessert to be full and much better if someone else is paying :) Highly recommend getting a bowl of fries to go with it if your a big eater. Took around 1.5 - 2 hours from ordering to receive mains. For those of us who didn't order entre we were pretty darn hungry. Nice small intimate place.

I was looking forward to experiencing Chim Choo Ree as its reputation is good and its menu looked exquisite online. I had the beef tartare the duck main and the pistachio panna cotta dessert with a couple of glasses of wine. My expectations were high and my review probably reflects the gap between expectations and reality and might be higher had I not had expectations. I'll say at the outset all of the food was delicious. We were given a complimentary amuse bouche to start which was very tasty and a nice surprise but probably served in the wrong type of serving spoon as it was difficult to eat it whilst looking elegant. I did expect more flavour from the tartare and crisper skin on the duck. One of my friends commented they would have liked more green beans on their main dish. Our main took forever to come out and when I walked passed the pass for a bathroom visit there were lots of plates lined up ready to go out. My dessert was delicious. Some of my friends were disappointed that the dessert options were slightly different to what was online and they couldn't therefore order what they'd planned on. We noted the dessert options were basically the same you get everywhere (brownie, panna cotta, bread and butter pudding, affogatto) I think we expected something different rather than just the same stuff done differently. Also every dessert at our table (three different ones) all had mint leaves on them, the mint leaves definitely did not compliment the flavours in my dessert so I wondered if they'd just put something on for the appearance without really finding something suited to each particular dish. All in all yummy but not the amazing taste sensation i was expecting so I probably won't hurry back as there are other places I'd go back to first, with similar dishes prepared, in my opinion only, better.

Decided to treat my lovely fiance to a nice Dinner and we weren't disappointed. A true fine dining experience in an atmosphere that is not as pretentious as other similar experiences. Amazing food please thank the chef's however the service was well below par - a friend of mine recently went here and told me the service wasn't the best and found that out for myself last night. Went for our wedding anniversary a couple of weeks ago and were not disappointed. The eye fillet and lamb rack were divine and cooked perfectly. Can't wait to go back.

Great food and fantastic service! The food was so good that my child wanted seconds I had the smashed avocado on toast and it was perfection. The eggs were delicious. My daughter had the kids pancakes and loved them. She wanted to lick the plate. I also had an ice coffee which was very good. The servers were quick, polite and attentive. The restaurant was clean. We would definitely come back!

Beef tartare: a tasty enough dish but the mirin and daikon overpowered the beef which is a bit disappointing for a tartare. Eye fillet: delicious! Although I’m not convinced the blue cheese potato went. It might just have been my own preferences. The gravy with it was fantastic. Brownie Yule log: oddly out of season but also delicious! Maybe a dollop of sorbet or similar? There was a lot of chocolate crumb. We had a lovely bottle of Hawkes Bay Syrah to wash it down. The main reason this got 4* was down to drinks service. It took ages to place our drinks order and we were ordering food before any drinks turned up. We also ordered bubbles/beer as a pre-dinner drink and wine with the food but they turned up in a different order. I guess that could have been our fault confusing the waitress but most restaurants would’ve picked up on what we wanted.

Food and wine was very nice. Atmosphere was nice also. Food was nicely presented. The portions per meal are small, and seemed to take a long time to be delivered to our table. This was on a Monday night, so perhaps service may be quicker on other nights of the week. If you are looking for medium sized meals or larger, then this is not the place for you. Overall, it's very nice. The only reason I did not give 5 stars, is the time between meals was too long (in my opinion). Meals were reasonably priced, but, about half the size I was expecting, which may not be a bad thing, if you are watching your waistline. 🙂

Lovely presentation and food,my only suggestion would be the temperature of the food..the fries were on the warm side but when we mentioned it they did take the price off, I think in part it was due to our early booking 5.30 the fat fryer wasn't up to temperature or having no heat lamps on service area ....either way it wasn't a big issue.Think it was just best mentioned.

I am really impressed with the new menu. The beef tartare entrée was just gorgeous. Lovely combination of flavours and so pretty. The eye fillet main was cooked perfectly, the sides were delicious and the waitress suggested a lovely wine match. Surprisingly, as someone who normally wouldn't order dessert, I was absolutely blown away by how good the avocado tart dessert was. It sounds really unusual but was executed perfectly. All of the dishes looked like artwork. The service was super friendly and waitress took the time to go over the new menu with us. Can't wait to go back and try some of the other new dishes.

Great place for a date night, the service us amazing and the wait isn't that long either. They have a menu that changes as well so coming every now and then will also be a new experience. The servers are very attentive which is great to see and the food is well presented and full of flavour. Wide selection of alcoholic and non alcoholic beverages, and vegetarian friendly. They also have a nice dessert menu for after. Favorite dish for today was the snapper with risotto, super flavorful and succulent fish. The entrees were perfect in portions as well. Will be coming here again.

my favourite restaurant in Hamilton! personally I love the new decor, it's very unique yet still classy. the menu is beautiful and cooked to perfection, staff are friendly and courteous and they give out little tasters which is a really fun touch. we got this little caviar and duck liver ball which was not to my taste but was a fun experience nontheless.

Absolutely delicious food. Don't come hungry. They don't offer bread (like most fine dining with small portions) and they gave some of the smallest portions I've ever had. Spent $85 and had to go right back out and get dinner again. Left still starving. Food was delicious though.

This is the second best restaurant in Hamilton. The food is exquisite and well prepared. Cuisine is new New Zeland with local ingredients. I have come here many times when in business and it is usually difficult to find a seat early in the evening. Reservations are a must. However, this time I reduced my rating from 5 to 4 starts because the menu seems to change very little with seasons and service is a bit slow. Otherwise a great place.

Great food at $$$ prices. The decor was a bit lacking and doesn't quite go with the excellent food and high end restaurant feel that their menu is aiming for. I was a bit disappointed with my hot chocolate that I ordered in instead of the dessert. It was very run-of-the-mill and didnt even come with the customary marshmallow or even a chocolate fish! But hot chocolate disappointment aside, I would go here again. The food really is magnificent.

I took my wife out to experience a romantic culinary evening and that is an understatement. We had a wonderful time the food was amazing, pork belly entree was such a wonderful mouthful. My main was the Gnocchi which I was very impressed with and my dessert was the rice moose sherbert and sorbet , it was delicious. Amazing food at a high price. Presentation could be done better. The desert menu should be explained by the staff, we were totally confused by the mixed flavors and therefore decided not to order a desert. They didn't have de-caffeinated coffee nor trim milk. When paying $ 19.00 for an entree and $ 37 for a main course I expect a table cloth on the table and cloth napkins. The tables are bare wood, the cutlery is very basic stainless steel. The table is decorated with one solitary, half used candle. The room is stark and has no atmosphere and drafty. The waiting staff needs polishing and their uniform smarting up. The restrooms are cold and the doors don't have any handles. As said at the start the food is amazing but the rest leaves a lot to be desired. There are better restaurants to chose from for the same price, where every thing is done properly.

In my opinion the best 'culinary experience' in Hamilton. The prices are high-end, but more than worth it. Every menu item is full of unusual-sounding combinations that create incredible, unexpected flavours and textures. Duck with licorice, rice pudding mousse... If you haven't been, go. Ccr has been a permanent fixture in hamilton for many years, and one of only two places for truly up market dining. In those many years I have been there many times. The new location is a beautifully put together affair, in the old brewery building. Beautiful brick walls and lovely lighting really set the mood. I have been here for romantic dinners and business meetings it is great for both. Staff are attentive and polite. The food is divine , the menu changes periodically but the meals never disappoint. There is a great selection of imported and local wines.
