Looking for Lunch location while visiting Hamilton? Then you should definitely consider this Cafe. We ordered chicken curry and Teriyaki and tempura set. Both comes with salad and miso soup. Curry added with beef and make it taste unique. Tempura were nicely done and teriyaki chicken was nicely grilled.

I love going to this place. My Saturday lunch is always reserved for going here. Arguably the best Japanese in NZ.

Taste is 5 stars for me. Decent portion sizes as well as decently priced. We ordered the teriyaki salad with beef and another with chicken; these come with miso soup as well as the gyoza dumplings and hot plate prawn to share. The sauce that came with the hot plate prawn was so delicious we ordered some more on the side. The gyoza dumplings were actually quite bigger than I expected which was great. Left this place feeling deliciously satisfied and wanting to try more.

We stopped by while passing through Hamilton, we were entirely delighted. The service is a bit slow, but the food it extremely well prepared. The ingredients tasted fresh and the cooking style was close to authentic (we've had Japanese the world over - including Japan). The goyza, tonkatsu, salmon and akedashi tofu were all really yummy. A special callout for the salmon belly. They also have a set plate for vegetarians. The staff was friendly and prompt.

The food is just delicious. It has become my first choice for special occasions. It is a small place so would not be suitable for large groups or parties. I've enjoyed every meal I've had here and the food is devine. The sides alone are enough to make the trip, great miso, great dumplings, and it's a cosy setting.

I had the lunchbox and it had all sorts in there, just the right amount and beautiful fresh sashimi. Husband had the steak on hot plate, it was sizzling hot and came with a fried potato fritter and salad and rice. Just the right amount (and he's a 'quantity' man). Great service, little waiting time. Worth the price and did not disappoint. The table next to us ordered teriyaki chicken with prawns on a hotplate. It was a bigger meal with a bit more cost, but would be perfect if I was really hungry.

One of the best Japanese restaurants in town. Biggest drawback is the limited opening hours, doesn't serve dinner and not open on Sundays. Food is really good (for Hamilton Japanese standards). Pretty good value for money in terms of serving size and quality. Would definitely be worth a visit if you're feeling like Japanese.

Would love to go more often, but unfortunately, they only do Mon-Sat lunch. But still, the food has always been great! Great food, great price, and great volume. The best Japanese food in town! Best miso soup too. Can dine in or enjoy takeaways. Often quite busy - reservations can be made though. The staff are lovely though busy. Give yourself enough time here, it's worth it.

There is not many Authentic Japanese Restaurant in Hamilton. But, I JAPANESE CAFE is the most of the delicious Japanese Restaurant in Hamilton. The owner who was a professional Itamae Chef in Japan. The price is reasonable and service & taste is never let us down. The only one things disappointed. they are not a open for dinner time.... Anyway, it's highly recommended place for a Japanese Food Lovers!!!
