What bedtime of the year to visit... The stuff we're absolutely amazing! Can not praise them enough, from the bar staff to the waiting staff, to the staff in the kitchen.. A really nice cold beer after a long day is just what we needed! The food... ooohhhhhh.... the food... Definitely worth every penny you spend that's for sure. What we ordered is definitely not what we expected... it was way more! Then the embers in the fire kept things really comfortable and cozy... All and all, it was an excellent experience! Would definitely stop in more often.

Great food, service and value... Had a quick meal here on our way to Auckland. I had a venison salad and hubby had Muddy's special double burger (best burger we've tasted in the North Island so far!) And bonus: Kids ate for free (Mon-Wed). Coffee was good too. We will be back for sure!

Just gonna say this is one of the best places so far that I have eaten in NZ. Food was really really good, waitstaff was personable and friendly, something that seems lost on a lot of NZ establishments. Atmosphere was good, good for family’s and couples. Nice venue easy parking really well set up with indoor and outside seating. Prices were fair given the quality more than a bargain. Very happy you should go!

I came here for the ribs and was not disappointed!! Walk in and you are greeted by friendly staff at the counter. Settle in at a table of your choice and order the ribs. A small wait later, attack!!

Really sad to return to muddy after so many years to see that it’s gone downhill. Food was actually quite tasteless , the ice cream sundae was $10 and tiny. Our deserts we’re forgotten and so was our drinks order. It was a quiet Sunday night . Waitress was lovely and bought out free drinks without us saying anything . Salad was bagged lettuce with tomato dumped on top :( lasagne was beyond awful :( steak was nice though but wait staff were very nice . Hope the food improves.

My partner and I had a lovely meal here last night. Food was great and generous portions. The staff were very accommodating when we asked for spinach instead of mushrooms in the pasta carbonara dish, the garlic bread is so good. The only little constructive comment would be that for an Irish Pub there wasn't alot of atmosphere, no music or irish beers available, apart from that its a great place to go for a meal. We will definitely be back.

Went here for dinner for the 1st time...i really enjoyed it... The staff were attentive and friendly... I had the lamb shank... It was very tasty but could of used a little more veges with it... The pasta was huge and my son enjoyed it alot, I would of preferred it not to have pesto... My Aunty really enjoyed her scallops which she changed from a entree to a main...The flies were a pain as we sat outside but that's country dining...i have added the menu as a photo cause couldn't find 1 on Google or Zomato...this was the Sunday Junior Chef menu so may differ

Reasonably priced, friendly atmosphere. Great selection, generous portions. The kids meals were surprisingly well done. The mussels were really delicious. The roast pork was really tasty, the crackling was really nice, the meat was a tad dry but there was plenty of gravy and the taste made up for it. The wait staff could have been a little more attentive, our drinks took ages and they did not check for refills, but would still DEFINATELY eat there again and will recommend to others.

Excellent place to stop for a meal with the family! Clean, spacious and good food. The staff are friendly and quick. Good kids' menu, and interesting daily specials (written on a small blackboard). My wife and I shared the 2 lamb shanks and they made a very nice lunch for two adults, and they were well cooked and flavourful. Perfect spot to eat when driving South, after dodging Auckland traffic.

Muddy waters is a VERY Popular watering hole. Serving good food and beer at reasonable prices. Can get Very busy at the weekend when the classic car and motorcycle clubs decide to drop in. Situated on the banks of the Mighty Waikato river it's a nice picturesque spot for a break if you're on a long trip.

Cool little pub! We stopped here on our way out of auckland on the long weekend. Well worth stopping in for a great feed and a few drinks to avoid traffic. The food was delicious, and you can never complain with a cold beer. Will definitely be coming back again

Food is ok. Its normally greasy pub food and pricing for what it is could be considered quite high. The beer is well priced by comparison to some other pubs and cleanliness is ok. It's a pub so service is pub like and average. If you are after a cold one and you are passing through then why not, stop and have a beer but I wouldn't make a special trip for the food.

Always loved this place. First time I've been back since the fire. Bartender was very short on words and seemed a bit grumpy. Used to always get got banter from the bartenders previously. May have just been a bad day. Who knows. We all have them.

Had a lunch there twice in the last couple of weeks. 1st time ordered scotch fillet - it was waaay too fatty, probably 60-70 grams of it was a pure fat, ended up not completing my meal. Gave this place a second chance, ordered chicken with avocado and camembert. I understand that avo is quite pricey atm, however I still wanted to see it in my meal.
