Lovely ambience at the lookout. The e-menu’s are a cool concept and ensure your service is always ready when you are, without losing the warm personal interaction either the wait staff - nice balance achieved! Espresso martini a cheeky indulgence for lunch on last day of annual leave - divine 🤩🍸 and hubby’s lemon lime & bitters was also worth a mention. We shared garlic rolls accompanied with additional garlic butter for our own decadent slathering, a fresh nicely flavoured shrimp cocktail 🦐 and a perfect open steak sandwich with crunchy fries and whole mushrooms. Sincerely enjoyed every sip and delicious mouthful. We share most of our café & restaurant orders including drinks, to maintain family harmony, eliminate food envy and be able to appreciate more flavours. Works well for us. The pricing was more than equitable for the quality and service. Thanks lookout staff. A+ and will be a favoured repeat. 🥙🍲🥖

The food is exquisite as always. We love the cheesecake here. Fresh fish and chips gourmet style and succulent pork belly skewers. Full of bold flavors. Highly recommended for a family meal, hangout with mates or a romantic date. You will not be disappointed.

The Lookout....a restaurant in Hamilton without waitresses. Instead you receive a tablet when seated to make your orders. One maitre'd or host delivers your preferences. Hes there to answer questions and help. This restaurant was busy with 90 tablets available. GF or food preferences are there for each order and you can keep check on what you are spending on the tablet. The meals were very generous and delicious. Will be going back.

Lovely meal we all had tonight. with covid times we had little tablets that sent our orders straight to the bar/ kitchen. very lovely for the socially awkward friends. I got the Bao Buns, super good, tender pork belly with a juicy slaw. parking was full and had to park down the road but i can see why. this place is never a let down. great place for the family but if you want a quick meal best to go at a less busy time of the day.

Great place. Met my girlfriend here, hadn't seen her for ages. We both enjoyed our food & the service was excellent. They use a tablet for each of u to order. It goes straight to the kitchen, no misheard orders, u just have to order about the same time. Technology making things easier, love it. We still got to speak to wait staff so not at all impersonal.

I had never been to The Lookout before last night. I walked in with an open mind and walked out extremely satisfied. The staff were all lovely, the man on the guitar and microphone was awesome. The method of ordering with the tablets was very efficient and entrees and drinks were at the table very quickly. The 4 of us there all had different meals and none of us could fault anything at all. The food was all amazing. For the service and quality we received all night, I was expecting to pay a reasonable charge but even that was very fair. I will definitely be back and I will be recommending The Lookout to anyone who asks.

Staff are really friendly, the steak meal I had was really nice. I like that they have implemented the use of tablets for placing your orders. Its a really innovative idea and im yet to see anywhere else using something like this. It made ordering our food and drinks way too easy.

Celebrated our anniversary with some delicious pizza entree followed by a Sri Lankan main with fries. Great modern building with touch screen menus and with good old fashioned table service, our server made us feel like our meal was the most important meal ever. Love to go back again!!

Too many flies. Never ever been to a restaurant sitting inside and swarmed by flies. No ceiling fans or aircon. No pest control. Just hot like you’re eating in the outback’s of Australia. Basically you have to dine in the evening or at a table out of the sun. You can put the blinds down but looks daft blinds down in broad daylight. Food was ok albeit a bit too greasy. Portion size above average. Prices very reasonable actually quite cheap. would I eat there again? Most likely no. Too many flies, too hot no air con etc and food bit too greasy.

Went for dinner at The Lookout which is normally great. Firstly we had to wait an hour for our meals, which is not right. So we ordered entree which came just before our meal. Our food was not up to their normal standards.

Great steak but the salad was not so good. I ordered for aioli sauce but they gave me tomato sauce. Didn't bother changing them as i don't want them to mess up with my sauce. There was no wait to be seated but a looooong wait for the food. They should have warned us about the time to cook the steak so we could have told them to serve the entree first. But overall it was ok but a bit pricey. Could get a decent steak for a lower price.

The portion sizes were great for the price. The cob loaf would probably easily serve 4 people as a starter. The pizzas are loaded and have plenty of meat. The view is average but as good as it gets in Hamilton. Couldn't fault the food or the service. Also loved the Baileys Easter egg special they had on offer. The second visit we unfortunately had an undercooked beef patty on the burger, the staff were great, dealt with it quickly returning a completley new cooked burger and took it off our tab. The other meals were great, the bao buns did have much more of a spice this time around.

I attended a private function here and really enjoyed the surroundings as well as the many platters of delicious eats, which the friendly staff happily boxed up the leftover platters for us all to take home. Very very reasonably priced catering. Their Bar/eatery next door to us was very busy also.

It was nice. Just nice. The service was nice. There were enough choices on the menu. The scotch was ok. But there was nothing special. There was not much atmosphere; a 70's play list, and the food was somewhat flavorless.. It was just average. And I felt I could have done the same at home. The staff were polishing cutlery at the outside of the bar at reception. The place needs some TLC.. So that is more than just.. nice.

Wow - what a great service offering from Hamilton, such a defined experience of professional restaurant vibes with old school pub combination. The food was made to high standards with quality ingredients and just plain yummy. The modern ordering facilities were interesting and very COVID traffic light friendly. Great care has been taken to make it unique and feel genuinely inviting you can appreciate it. The live music was the cherry on top. You would be missing out not taking your family, on your own for a beer and good meal or that Tinder/Grindr date here (careful, you might end up taking all your dates here but I’m sure they won’t mind).

Truly a great experience with friendly and helpful waiters. The majority of waiters in NZ is untrained and couldn't care less if customers are serviced. The Lookout Bar is a breath of fresh air, with exceptional service, great food and the kitchen is spotless!

Good fancy building, open style interior design, separating into Bar and dining area. Specious and good ambience. Tasty food and priceses are good, between medium to high end. Popular with locals. When we were last there, the weather was hot and it got really hot in there once all the tables are filled up. We also saw others wipping sweat dripping down their heads. It bacame unpleasant to be on the inside. Either the air con wasn't full on or the design of the building traps in the heat. Sufficient and dedicated parking in front of the restaurant, if not, you will need to park on the street - not a major. Now onto the technology aspect of placing your actual food and drink orders. You know how over years, all Banks have tried and introduced( if not forcing) customers to use digital self service such as using an ipad or online stuff. It brought back the exact same feeling when we're were told we have to order via the Digital ipad look alike thing. We were OK with it but the elderly group next to us really struggled and the waitress who served them was in a hurry to move on and not interested in explaining in a patient manner.. but they had to in the end asked another waitress who walked past. For those of us using Computer all day in the office, last we want is to look at anither screen when we come to a reataurant to relax and unwind. We understand digital menu can free up staff time to do other things/or even hiring less staff, but this also means potential reduction overall customer service experiences. The waitress who served us was friendly but lacked serious knowledge on what's in the menu. Ingredient etc. She had to refer to the kitchen and the supervisor in order to answe my questions. As the evening got busier, I noticed the supervisor kept on walking past to see if we have finished - which we haven't, but we certainly felt the pressure and it became unpleasant to stick around and order desert towards the end. When she walked past our table, she kept on looking at the ipad thing in her hand to see what bookings are coming up and she can allocate tables etc. Still given the 4 star as the food is tasty and decent serving size. Recommending a try.

Food was good but light on plant based options. Good portions however. The view is one of the industrial area of Hamilton. Cosy ambience on the inside. We sat in the bar area next to the gas fire. It was busy in the main restaurant so I would say you need to book for that part. Prices are within reason for the generous portions. Unfortunately our waitress was having a bad day and wasn't very friendly.

I would have given this restaurant five stars as I really enjoyed my steak, eggs and chips followed by my Creme Brulee and the staff and service were excellent but two things put me off a little. One was that I was seated close to the kitchen door and it really needed a shot of lubricant as every time it swung open it squeaked and after a while it got very annoying. The other downer was I ordered a coffee and I was very disappointed in it! It was very weak and watery. I guess that the advice here would be, go for the food but don't have a coffee here and don't sit close to the kitchen.

Lovely flavoured food, nice wine. Duck entree so good but not so keen on the rubbery skin. Maybe it should sliced up without skin on before serving to customer. Tortellini also very tasty. Pork cutlet main delicious and rib eye steak also delicious but a little grisly. All in all well worth it.

Had a work function here on a weekday. Parking was somewhat limited but if you didn't mind waking a little there was plenty of on road parking. Service was excellent with extremely attentive and polite staff. Sharing platters were quite varied and great tasting. Lots of pizza flavours too which were done well. Would definitely come back here for a function.

Really lovely dinner here on Friday night. Booked ahead of time via email and the staff were so accomodating - I queried if they would be open to making any of their menu items vegetarian (which is frequently met with a 'no.' depending on the establishment), to which they replied along the lines of 'of course, what would you like?' We settled on a pasta dish and it was DELICIOUS. So good in fact my partner ended up helping me eat it, which was sweet because the portions here are really generously sized! The wait staff were all absolutely lovely, attentive but not intrusive. All in all a really lovely night :)

Great find. Great sunny spot. Modern bistro / pub at the base end of Hamilton. Really good food. Try the bao buns, sticky chicken and loaded fries. Also do huge bowls of mussels for 10 bucks on the weekends. Heaos of room for large tables too. Might book my next work function there. Big balcony for summer. Really nice fit out. Staff very nice.

Great facility. Band was abit loud as were couldn’t hear each other on our table but was very good. Cocktails were very boring with not a lot of flavor. I had the pork which was chewy and not hot at all. Also what is with serving steak/pork in a bowl? Made it very hard to cut.

We had a private function at The Lookout on the weekend, Cam, Liv and the team were great - right from planing / booking, through to turning up to the reserved function area, the food and drinks - we had positive feedback from everyone in attendance and thoroughly enjoyed the evening. The food was great and reasonably priced, the staff were friendly and on hand when ever needed. The venue is excellent with a great atmosphere. Excellent service. Nice surroundings. Our steaks were cooked the way we wanted. They were succulent and tender. Served with green beans and brocollini plus a potato stack. Nice blue cheese sauce. Dessert my husband had the chocolate brulee and this was yummy rich tasty, decadent. I had the ice cream sunday. Sounds plain but was served with boysenberry sorbet like rather than ice cream, with chocolate sauce drizzle, brandy snap whip cream Both served with flower garnishes.
