In terms of service, I cannot fault the waiter. He was polite, patient and efficient. However, the food was below mediocre. I got the Southern Fried Chicken and the batter was very floury with no flavour or seasoning. My friend had the muscles and again it was flavourless and 'meh'. Apart from that, the restaurant is clean and a nice chilled place for lunch.

Used to be a big fan of their old menu however, recently ordered their expensive chicken on the menu and was disappointed as it lacked flavor, sauce, seasoning and was accompanied by some vegetables with hardly any seasoning on it. Fish and chips was ok. Great ambience and friendly staff.

We came here on the way through to Auckland. The meal was quick and tasty. Our son loved the burger and my steak was cooked to perfection. Hubby had the fish and chips and said it was good. However it did look like the batter was over cooked. The favourite of the boys was the chips which were cooked crisp on the outside and fluffy in the middle.

Made a booking by phone for the family for lunch on Saturday. Service was good and food was good. Food portions were respectable. Conviniently located with plenty of parking spaces. Decor was cool. Would certainly recommend as a place for lunch on a weekend.

Our second time to the Wayward Pigeon. We were hoping our second visit would be better than the first. Fortunately, it was! We'll return for a third. We signed up for their loyalty programme, although it's not the most user-friendly platform we got there in the end. Now I just hope I can keep the little QR code in a safe place (no keyring so that idea won't work). Twas very popular and busy with two large groups for a Monday night.

Lovely food. Went for Tuesday lunch so not many staff on but they were attentive and accommodating. I had the salmon salad and date had the sticky rice bowl with salmon. Both delicious and delivered to our table in a timely fashion.

Had a reservation on a fully booked night. Despite being very busy the food and drinks all came out quickly and tasted great. Went out with the kids and the friendly staff went out of their way to make us have a good evening. Added to this the food was fantastic. Wonderful deal on the kids menu which made the night not too expensive.

Good staff, but VERY slow service at the bar. Even though not busy, had to queue at the bar, then again at the eftpos machines. They only have at either end of the bar, no mobile ones... Hello 21st century wireless?? Good quiz night. Only reason to go. Very average food!

The Wayward Pigeon is a nice restaurant, the staff are friendly and there is heaps of parking. While the starters where really flavorful and nice, I and others in my party found our mains bland lacking any real flavor. This was a real point of contention as the prices of the mains is high especially when compared to other similar dining establishments.

Absolutely amazing place and the most amazing staff! We had the most lovely waitress who was so kind and friendly, and we had such good service! The food was absolutely delicious and so mouthwatering that we forgot to take pictures before it was in our mouths! We can't wait to visit again!

The 12 hour slow cook scotch was amazingly tender n jst melt into your mouth! Vegetables were cooked to perfection n jus was velvety smooth... compliment to the chef. We had a birthday lunch at Wayward Pigeon today for 34 adults. Food superb and timely, and service next to none. Deposit needed for upstairs function room, no separate hireage fee😊 Everyone enjoyed meal and food served for all within 30 min.

So we had a booking last night. The front counter was unattended, I had to call the number to have someone "come running" to answer the phone. Food wasn't too bad, sitting next to the bar isn't quite fun. I didn't get her name but the young maori girl that served us was AMAZING! She seemed to be the only waitress doing anything from our point of view, the rest of the workers liked to gather infront of the screen by the kitchen window and talk. She took orders, served food and drinks and cleared tables while the others watched her. She deserves a raise!

Excellent food, fantastic service from Eden. A slight oversight involving a food allergy was swiftly and professionally dealt with. Only issue was that a quiet table was requested at the time of booking,but there wasn't really anywhere for that to happen except outside, which was not really an option at night in May! Totally recommend this place.

Good pizza ! Nice staff and they let us take our jugs through the restaurant part to sit under the warm heaters, legends and a good place to chill and watch sport in Kirikiriroa.

We visited several weeks back and the staff and ambience was quite nice, although a lack of people for lunch made me suspect it was due to the food quality. My burger patty appeared and tasted like a production line snap frozen variety. Bland and flavorless with a springy texture. Fries were ok. I'm sure this place would be buzzing if they got the food right.

Yeah liked it but felt the menu wasn't innovative enough for me personally but nice quality food. The best were the moijito's. Oh my goodness very, very nice. Good wait staff and very speedy service for large groups so you can all eat together. Nice atmosphere but can get noisy. Not an intimate place but great to catch up with friends.

Thank goodness that the Live Musician was a little late in this particular Friday. The family post-funeral get-together was noisy enough, although some really enjoyed his background sounds too. It's a good spot for out-of-towners and locals alike. Can't comment on the food as I didn't eat, but the bar service was excellent.

Very keen to try Wayward Pigeon again, giving it a 3.5 this time. We ordered a few small items - the Garlic Loaf, the Pork Belly Bites, and the Southern Fried Chicken. The absolute star of the show was the Garlic Loaf - will definitely get again! The pork belly bites weren't too bad either - however very let down by the chicken. Seemed as if it was unseasoned, a little flavourless, and a very confused mixture of sauces. Hope to visit again and have a bit more luck with a different dish. Service was okay but confused - it seemed as if the wait staff missed our arrival, instead showing people who arrived after us to tables first. Once we were seated though, service was fine - nothing to complain about, but nothing to write home about either.

The wayward pigeon for years has been a landmark of the Huntington area, standing out at the roundabout connecting gordonton and Wairere Drive. And stand out, it does. It's a place with some great people manning the ship. They're comfy, and lively, making any patron feel welcome. The food is brilliant as well. With the seafood being fresh and cooked just right. Kudos to the team, from the front of house to the chefs to the live musicians(yes! Live musicians!) They've got along. Y'all are doing a great job!

Just had lunch at this place and I have to say, WOW. Best food I had in Hamilton. We had the shared plates and a couple of glasses of sav. Great atmosphere, friendly staff and delicious food and drinks. Highly recommend.

Lovely food. Really well seasoned and very fresh ingredients. Sings in your mouth! The restaurant is vast but welcoming. The only downside was having only couple waiting staff who had to run the whole thing, running from one end to another. Slow service so prepare for a laid back lunch. Great for kids menu too.

Chicken tenders for starters were amazing, very tasty and crispy, gluten free as well. Coffee was smooth, great taste. The main course was average, the steak was in the middle of the road I've had worse and I've had better. Sauce was bland. I forgot the taste the next day. The desert just tasted sweet, nothing but sweet.

Our party of three enjoyed an impromptu lunch here. We chose to eat in the bar rather than the restaurant. We appreciated the prompt, polite service. Our salt and pepper squid was beautifully cooked and presented. Each of our main meals were also tasty and well presented. Portions were generous. Pre-Covid they had special deals for patrons. Hope this will be back when Wayward Pigeon bounces back on her feet again. Reasonable priced menu and good music. Service is excellent but ambience can be challenging. I do not care about the noise because everyone was having a great time. Reservation will help with large numbers. We had two large gatherings and it was organised well by the staff. Once, it closed her doors at 9pm - perhaps because of pandemic.

Service - Good - only complaint was wait from time we were seated until we got the menu and a drink. Pork Buns - A thin dry slice of what appeared to be pork belly inside a bun. Reasonably tasty but disappointing for the price. Beef Cheek - Decent size, melt in your mouth but found a bit bland. OK. Overall - Did not find anything to set this aside from your average family restaurant. Expected better.

Had a fantastic experience here for a 50th birthday. 33 of us and the food was amazing they never made any mistakes with the pre order and I was so impressed with the quality of the food and size of the meals were huge. Highly recommend for functions. Such delicious food will be coming again 😊

Good service every time I’ve been , I usually just get a pizza which was really nice ! I went a year ago and the pizzas weren’t that great but they have since changed that . I also enjoyed the fish and chips. Good atmosphere and vibe will definitely come again :)

My husband and I went there for lunch. Great indoor space, wait staff very attentive and food arrived promptly. I ordered the smoked salmon salad- it was all that it promised. Absolutely delicious. My husband ordered the GI Joe Pizza- again, delicious. Only giving 4 stars because we were both a bit disappointed by the mini pav and hot drinks( mocha and hot chocolate). Overall, an enjoyable experience and all items on the menu seemed well priced. I could also use my entertainment card... Great savings😀

Lots of gluten free options for starters and mains. We had the fried haloumi, and both steak dishes between us. The slow cooked steak dish was incredible, we were talking about taking a weekend trip down to Hamilton just for the mains by the end of it! Good range of beers on tap. Dessert was not quite as good, but still enjoyable, which I find to be standard just about everywhere I go - maybe my appetite is just gone by then! The staff were run off their feet and having technical difficulties with the till but still didn't let this effect our meal and were very apologetic. Would definitely recommend.

Caramel sauce sort of disappeared after a spoon or two, but the taste was way overpowered by the chocolate brownie itself. so why caramel? a lot of others use a berry for a bit of tart to go with sweet. The dish itself was rather small, but if I was there for a full meal, the maybe it would have finished the night. It cost $14, over priced for what you get.

This is an amazing restaurant. They provide goody bags for the kids to keep them entertained. They are friendly and the service is quick. They cater for Celiacs customer and provide a large variety of choices. I can not recommend this restaurant enough.

I have been to the Wayward Pigeon a couple of times before and been pleased with the food, but our most recent visit was rather disappointing. The bun on the burger was dry and stale, and crumbled apart when I tried to eat it - ended up discarding the bun and eating the filling with a knife and fork. When I mentioned this to our server they didn't seem to be interested.
