S.I came here by accident and asked if there is a table for me and Yes! I got a table chilling outside and have ordered the beef Wellington.
In my opinion, the service is friendly and helpful. The atmosphere is lovely and romantic. I love the food so much. I can not wait to get back there and try all the main dishes!

We elected to have the “Chefs Choice” where they surprise us with the courses (we live dangerously). Can honestly say they are a cut above the rest.
They catered well for the gluten free and vegan guest too.

D.We booked a table for three for dinner before lockdown and it was fantastic. The place is super cosy, very inviting, warm and beautiful, and the service was friendly. The food came out in a timely manner and was well presented. Everything tasted exactly like how it looked and was very fresh. Pricing is a little on the pricier side but well worth the money for how much effort goes in to the food. Looking forward to dining here again!

M.One of the best brunch meals I've had in a long time. Everything was just spot on. Loved the fact that the Benedict came with hot smoked salmon rather than cold. The buttermilk fried chicken was crunchy and juicy and great Asian flavours with the coriander - highly recommended. Black garlic polenta chips were just that - black! Looked great and tasted just as good. Blueberry hotcakes were another hit. A bit of a crunch to the hotcake, served with plums, mascarpone and Whittaker's choc sauce. Great way to finish with something sweet. Also amazing service. Lovely, helpful and very friendly. Charming atmosphere in the restaurant itself, although we couldn't resist sitting outside on such a beautiful day. Would definitely go back next time I'm visiting Hamilton.
Update: it was so good we went back for breakfast the next day. The stroganoff gnocchi in creamy mushroom sauce with steak was THE BEST, Thai red curry with buttermilk fried chicken was also packed full of yummy flavours and I would definitely get it again.

J.A wonderful reincarnation for old of Hamilton East's grand old villas. 259 Grey Street is now Thyme Square and an exceptional addition to Hamilton's dining scene. It is currently BYO beer, wine & spirits with a corkage charge. We met a group of friends for a Sunday lunch and our meals were the beef stroganoff and venison spanikopita which were both outstanding. It has an easy-going and comforting vibe, with great service & flavoursome, nourishing food. It's a place you will want to go again and again. Well done to the Thyme Square family for creating an excellent destination restaurant in the heart of Hamilton East.

A.100% the only restaurant I come in to Hamilton to go to! This was our first time there for dinner after being constantly impressed by the brunches and lunches. Everything was absolutely 5 star!! It really is fine dining.
The Food, service, ambiance, restaurant decor and feel - I didn't want to leave! For mains we had the Eye fillet, and truffle risotto with Tuna steak. Incredible! You really get what you pay for... keep in mind quality food is expensive to buy as it is, so the prepared meal I had in front of me by an amazIng chef with BYO wine - it is actually very reasonably priced! The meal had so many different components and flavours, but all worked together beautifully. I'm not kidding when I say this is one of the best restaurant meals I have ever had. My other half was equally impressed. Thanks again Thyme Square team - until next Thyme!!

S.Me and my partner are big foodies, and we went on a Thursday evening to celebrate her birthday - and selected the "trust the chef" option. We were both BLOWN AWAY with how amazing the service, intimate vibe and food were. Beautifully plated, well designed, new fresh and exciting arrangements and best of the flavor. Also, good portions for your money, no microplates here :) We will be back regularly for our special occasion meals. Highly recommended. ps - I eat dairy free and the chef tailored everything to my needs no problem. Not many places offer such service.
A.Had a work brunch. The staff are very friendly and the food was fabulous. A little too much salt on the chicken which I informed them of, otherwise, delicious. Lovely spot. Look forward to taking hubby back.

A.EDIT - The owner reached out of his own accord, and I believe feels genuinely remorseful about the experience. I've given the review a jump up to a 4-star because I believe it is a much better representation of just how good the food was. I also forgot mention that the cocktails/mocktails were fantastic.
I'll be honest I feel really conflicted writing this review. The food was delicious. Genuinely some of the most amazing food I've eaten in Hamilton... But our waitress was so very condescending.
She made it seem as if we were inconveniencing her by coming to the restaurant, and was quite sour to deal with - right up until (of course) it was time to pay and leave.
It was such a shame, but we all felt the same, that the waitress really didn't leave any positive impact on us at all.
I'll stress again - the food is remarkable. The chef(s) are amazing, and I would very much like to visit again.
Note - we visited a while ago, and I was indecisive on if I should post this review or not, so more recent experiences and reviews may be more reliable!

D.This is a fairly new restaurant in Hamilton East, not far from other eateries at various levels, but this is at the top end. It is situated in an old villa, which had housed Richard's Restaurant in the 1980s. The different rooms are partly opened up so there is a sense of being in an intimate space. Our group of 10 was well accommodated, though. We had a chef's choice of vegetarian dishes. All the food was delicious. I recall the gourmet cheese scones in particular and the beetroot and rocket salad with feta. The deserts were stunning including poached pears and an extraordinary bread and butter pudding. On our night the liquor licences hadn't quite come through, but the BYO license was imminent with the full license to follow. Our group ordered glasses of non-alcoholic wines and beers.

A.Great flavors, friendy wait staff and a very pleasant evening. Only loose a star because we tried to book again for a group of 10 but the only option was a set menu for 20 at $900. I don't have an extra 10 friends so food only at $90 a head is a bridge too far. Need to work out how to cater for smaller groups.

K.Had lunch here today, our waitress was amazing and the food was spot on. I can't recommend Thyme Square Restaurant enough. I think its definitely a hidden gem. You won't be disappointed, 5 stars for food and service.
C.It’s quite like fusion dishes and you can’t imagine how the chef would think of using those ingredients. Highly recommended if you are boring to those transitional dishes. To be honest, I wouldn’t know it is a restaurant if I haven’t booked it through first table. But it gives you a feeling of home because it is a house renovated as restaurant.
M.What lovely people. We arrived without a reservation and they made an arrangement to be able to accommodate us. The menu is unique and the presentation cannot be faulted. One piece of advice....go hungry....as portions are big....

b.What a meal!!!!! After deciding on a meal each my wife and I saw the trust the chef meals delivered to the neighbouring table and instant food envy hit... However that was short lived because the options we had picked hit the mark perfectly. I ordered the risotto with seared tuna and was blown away. It was by far the best risotto I've ever had... For me the truffles used were a beautiful touch and worked in nicely with the other flavours!! My wife's meal was equally impressive and we will be returning some time real soon!!

R.Wow. I want to say well done to both the Kitchen Staff and the wait staff at Thyme Square. It was my wife and I's first time at Thyme Square and were were blown away by the quality of the food and presentation. I had the Confit Pork belly entree and the Venison Main and both were just amazing. My Wife had the Smoked lamb Rump entree and the Lamb Shank main and she was equally impressed. Atmosphere was awesome in the converted villa and the wait staff were welcoming but didn't hover. We will be coming back soon, My Wife is looking forward to trying the Venison and i'm looking forward to the eye fillet. Great experience all round.

Cannot fault the food. 5.30 booking, 2nd table seated, last to be served mains ( tables around us arrived after we did and were served mains before us) then to be told we had no time left for coffee and dessert. Excuse was they didn't anticipate number of diners. Seems odd when you only have ph or online bookings. 5 star food. 3 star management.
W.COVID-19 lockdown aside, it has been a while since we last visited Thyme Square in their new Grey St premises. For our first meal out, we weren’t disappointed. The service remained exemplary, the food outstanding and the small things were done well - including a birthday card presented at the end of the evening for my mother-in-law who had marked her 70th in lockdown. We knew it was BYO and with the Liquorland just a block away it made for a more affordable two course meal, even with corkage and a per person glass charge.
