Had a wonderful dinner here. There was a live musician playing who was very entertaining playing all the old classics like "the gambler." We chose a seafood platter which was simply superb. Great Flavours, only the cod thing was battered, scallops and prawns tasted awesome. Definitely big enought to feed 3 happily. One down side was a glass was broken on the floor and cleaned in too much of a rush. we could still see shards on glass which should have been vacuumed. Would recommend going and will come again for the seafood platter

We came here twice on our trip. Had the lunch specials that go right up till 5pm which was great because we were there about 4pm one day and it's that annoying time where most places stop serving food at 3pm. Not here though! Staff were friendly, it was nice and warm inside - you could sit where you wanted. Meals were served hot, were huge and delicious! Garlic bread was bloody good, second time we tried it with the cheese dip - do yourself a favour and get it. Only downside is that you wanted more of it haha. Really recommend Monteith's! They were also child friendly - we didn't have any but saw kids there having a great time. I had the fried chicken both times which was delicious and came with a side salad (was huge & great value for $19), husband had ribs the first time and blue cod fish & chips the second - I sampled both and they were really good!

Ate here for lunch, great place & great food. We brought our dog and ate in the shared court yard, our waitress brought our dog some water. We werent meal checked but luckily everything was great, probably would have ordered another drink if we were checked tho! Thanks a bunch! :)

Highly recommended!! Had lunch one day and 2days later our kids insisted that we come here again after the horrible meal. We had at Salt n Pepper they didnt want to rush it lol. Dinner was absolutely amazing and the staff are so friendly and makes the kids feel apart. Anyone looking for a great atmosphere and food should not pass this opportunity to dine here.

I had venison and my husband had salmon and blue cod +beer. Price was high but food and service was good. Enjoyed live music as well.

We went during covid-19 level two. Which meant there were strict rules in affect. The staff were abiding by them, and it didn't negativity impact their service at all. We had a couple of tasty cocktails, and a few fried goodies and breads and dips. Food was affordable and was what you'd expect for a bar. Nice place to sit and soak up the sun.

Let’s start by saying make sure you book a table in Hanmer Springs, 4 to 5 of the Restaurants were double booked on Saturday night. Also it was a very busy night in the town. We were very lucky the bar had good staff and gave us a number and a drink and called us when a table was free, great work team. Good choice of drinks, ran out of Mulled Wine, but I do not think they expected the hit they got, but was a crowd fav. Menu was extensive and lots of yummy choices. Entree Prawn and scallops entree - the sauce was delicious, Prawns slightly over cooked. Chicken wings, they come out crumbed which surprised me, salad underneath was yummy. But as Manu always says where is the sauce. Would of done with a good blue cheese sauce or a choice of spicy BBQ. Mains Chicken Chimichurri - where was the Chimichurri? Chicken was dry, but still ok, come with some patties on the side, not sure the purpose or flavor. Dish looked fantastic but missed the brief. Texas Schnitzel - was very nice, a nice spice level, Looked great Rib Steak - cooked to perfection 11 out of 10. All was very perfect. Overall good service on a busy night.

Good food, nice beers, always being busy. HIGHLY recommended to book for table. Adequate options for vegans as well. Only thing is that you could wait for more than 30mins while on waiting list for a table (there is a waiting table for you to sit rather than loiteiring around town and come back), then another 20-30mins for food to be served. Have went twice, will visit again.

Had dinner on a Saturday night so was really busy but service was fast, staff where polite and the meals where nicely presented and tasty. Can't wait to return.

Great atmosphere when not full/packed. Warm friendly staff and quick with the meals. Meals were good BUT very pricey, there was four of us and it cost $250

Spectacular beers, ice cold. Food was very good, my wife and I ordered completely different dishes. They both arrived at the same time and perfectly cooked. I will be back again

I’m here on work travel and experience the most amazing customer service one could ever hope for I believe his name was RYAN SUCH A WELL MANNERED LAD (Thanks ryan ) he took me & mum. to my table even got me a beer this kinda service I really appreciate as well as the food I couldn’t fault at all it was amazing I got a 450 ramp and mum got the pork chops I WILL DEFINITELY BE BACK AGAIN ON MY NEXT TRIP FROM CHRISTCHURCH

Our family went for dinner. The service was good and the staff were friendly but the meals were very average. The price was too high for what was served.

Enjoyable time. Large food selection. But a bit more expensive compared with other restaurants I've been to in Christchurch. Would certainly visit again .good customer service.

Great food, we had wings and nacho's. Most enjoyable, this was the second time we had them. Very busy at lunchtime during the school holidays. But we expected it so it was just nice to relax with a nice drink while waiting for our food. 5 ☆ again.

A busy night here but we were greeted nicely and got a table well within the estimated time. Waitstaff were working full speed and nonstop. Food was generously portioned and tasty. Not too adventurous but solidly good. Loaded chicken schnitzel was both OTT and moreish. No room for dessert.

Limited lunch menu. Beef nachos not good however spicy chicken salad very nice & reasonable service. Don’t know what was with the Nachos - do not recommend.

The food here was prepared very well. Recommendations - Rib eye steak with mushroom sauce, hot chips and a salad all complimented each other (the salad was great, it wasn’t just grass.) the blue cod fish and salmon had great flavour too. Would have been a 5star rating however the service was on the downside, the guys stood around talking to each before serving us..

Omg The Texan was amazing as was dessert- banana, caramel gooey cake mmm delicious.

Friendly staff, good atmosphere, nice food :) They didn't have ribs on their dinner menu, only on their lunch menu. I was disappointed by this, I had come to dinner for ribs. The meal I got instead was fine, but it wasn't ribs.

Friendly and fast service. My steak and mash was perfect. My wife's one was overcooked. The nachos from my daughter were very soggy. Overall the food was average.

Been here a couple of times this trip for the 1st time. Really enjoyed the food and great service too. Recommend the Texan schnitzel

Great place and had a really good New Years Eve but the staff need to smile! Had a lovely girl on the bar with a great smile but the blokes acted like they'd rather be somewhere else! That being said, will def go back as it is a great place.

Food was good, just your standard pub meals. Took about 25-20mins for our meal to come out. One of the staff who served us our drinks had excellent service she was great, had an accent possibly french? Although we felt like we were being watched towards the end of our meal by the indian guy who maybe thought we weren’t going to pay, kept asking if we wanted to pay?? When clearly we were still conversating, eating and drinking

Didn't try the food, but we ordered beer and hot chocolate. I loved the chocolate, it looked good and they guy behind the bar was friendly.

Welcoming stuff, food and drinks were quickly on the table but that's where their job ends. We waited 15 minutes after we finished our food as other 2 table next to us. Nothing to drink but no one cared anyway. I had to take my plate to the bar and asked them to wrap up my food. Crispy chicken very delicious, burger meat dry.

Great customer service. A really good atmosphere. It had amazing food. I loved it so much. The steak was cooked perfectly and the garlic mash was to die for. Definitely going there next time I'm up here.

The service was spectacular, even though the place was packed. Within 1 minute we were seated, had drinks within 2 minutes, had ordered within 5 minutes, and food and atmosphere were great. Outstanding, will be back again.

The seafood was cooked perfectly and generous size meals. Kids meals were great, not just your average fried food options! Great customer service.

Absolutely amazing. Came for a drink and dinner. There was lovely live music. Our meals were Devine such great flavour! Half lamb rack and the steak. The Staff were friendly and overall was a great night.

In Hanmer on our honeymoon, went here for dinner on our first night, ordered 2 $20 steaks, one blue, one well done. Both steaks cooked perfectly. Came back next day for lunch, were told breakfast menu was available if we liked, even though we were half an hour past menu change. Both meals were delicious, and service on both visits were the best we have had in this town. Will be back for the duration of our stay.

Great friendly vibe. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Menu offers lots of variety with something for even the fussiest of diners. Plenty of comfy seating indoor and outdoor. Parking right out front or some off street parking out back. Wheelchair accessible.

We went here for family dinner, great place great food and service, if you have little kids tho plan your meal before 8pm so your little ones get their meals before the busy period 🙂 very generous portion size and great service from staff here.

Took the kids out for dinner on a busy Saturday night, staff were very friendly, they offered us temp seating, crayons and pictures for the kids. Seats came up fairly quickly and we're eating pretty quickly also. All the meals were spot on. Left feeling very satisfied.

We had a lovely meal here. We ordered the lamb salad and mango chicken, both of which were tasty. We had very attentive staff which was probably helped by the fact that there seemed to be a few working.We were able to access the free library wifi from our table too, which was a nice bonus. We would return.

Food was excellent but what absolutely made our night was the staff. They took time to listen to our kids, supply them with colouring in items and then critiqued their finished artwork. The staff made our night a breeze and they looked like they were all having fun while working. Thank you.

Not too bad. Had a t bone steak and was cooked okay, eggs were overcooked crispy on the outside and average veges. Sorry, expected better for $39

Went here late at night after dinner and enjoyed our experience. Has a fantastic selection of beers on tap, possibly the best range in Hanmer and who doesn't enjoy Monteith's brews? Staff were helpful with a nicely fitted out setup which joins the Irish bar next door. You can enjoy both indoor and outdoor seating too.

Hubby had burger and I had Moroccan lamb salad. I never give 5/5 reviews but this was one of the best meals we’ve had. Just go straight here!

The menu was so random. It made no sense for a pub restaurant. Like why is there meatballs on schnitzel. The fish and chips was the only 'normal' thing on the dinner menu. It was also overstaffed and workers were doing nothing but twiddling their thumbs.

Had a yum steak meal there on a Monday night a 500g rump for $20. They can cook blue. Staff friendly, but then we find if you talk to them like hard working humans not just minions that deliver your food, theirs and your night is much happier.

Food was great. Service good. Just a little noisy due to rugby on the tv. Not easy to make conversation.

Came here once while visting Hamner springs in 2017 Came again today. The food service is still as good as i remember it. This place makes food better tasting than some 5 class restaurants in Auckland. I highly reconmend this place. Dish size are generious and pricing also

Cute sports bar/mountain cozy atmosphere! We got the venison starter which was amazing and the Lamb rack which had a delicious sauce. The service was awesome and the beer was delicious.

Awesome cosy country pub with all you need on a weekend away. Nothing too flashy or OTT just simple food and good beer.

Good staple pub food. The steak I had was cooked perfectly and really yummy. There are lots of beer on tap. Something to eat and drink for anyone (including my vegan friend)

Great service and the restaurante was warm and toastie. I ordered nachos, which were very reasonably priced, generous, and yummy.

Enjoyed delicious Seafood Chowder for lunch with a nice glass of Reisling. Highly recommend!

Lovely staff good food

Beer glass had a crack in it when i was given it. Half way through it broke. Complained and was given an empty glass as a replacement. Complained again and was was given a new beer attitude on replacement. Food was amazing but service needs work

Not sure why the reviews of this place are so negative, the food is expensive but other than that the staff are very kind, and you can also order food from the two neighboring restaurants because they're owned under the same people.

Arrived and got a seat very quickly, service was prompt. Our drinks were absolutely delicious and one of our mains was nice also, however there was an issue with my meal being undercooked. The manager dealt with it really well and we were impressed at the efforts to remedy. Cheesecake for dessert was out of this world, would definitely recommend trying it!
