Been here 3 times and each time, our meals were well presented and delicious. Staff were friendly. Definitely be back and highly recommend.

Delicious food, lovely restaurant and setting with friendly and helpful staff. Would definitely recommend :) Staff were more than happy to cater to some of my dietary requirements and change up meals. We had the duck leg, seafood paella and sticky date pudding. Great views for a breakfast out for a group of 7. Service was friendly and atmosphere quaint. Flat white was seriously lacking flavour. Although, the iced mocha was delicious. Food was mostly good (avocado was not ripe for some and the tomato’s weren’t nice to eat).

Had dinner at Salt n Pepper last night. Our dinner was so good, we ordered Beef Cheeks with Potato Rosti and roast vegetables. Was so good forgot to take photos, even went onto have Sticky date pudding. Great meal, great service, beautiful venue, highly recommend. Will be back for sure.

The food is fantastic. Well presented, great flavors and good price. I was really amazed however on getting an iced coffee to have it arrive with a plastic straw. I complimented the staff on the coffee quality and said that I was very surprised and disappointed to see they were still using plastic straws with so many great alternatives now. They were quite curt and just blew me off like...oh yawn boring g customer go away. I asked that they pass this feedback onto management and could see that wasn't going to happen. Overall the attitude of the staff to clients I thought very blase and lacked much genuine interest or care. Your chef is certainly doing something right though.

I have been to Salt N Pepper for breakfast, coffee and out for dinner. Every time the service has been fantastic. At night time all the lights create a great atmosphere and being able to sit outside and enjoy the views is amazing. I found eating dinner here was a lovely intimate experience. I love going to this place when I am in Hanmer Springs. The staff are amazing, the food is delicious and they have great coffee.

Superb dinner, friendly staff. Had the aranchini balls, lamb shank, and toffee pudding and could not fault the meal in the least. Friends all had a mix of the duck leg, garlic bread, fish, and ribeye. Would recommend to anyone visiting Hanmer!

My daughter and i spent our Christmas Day dinning and we absolutely loved every minute of it. The food was yum. Cheeseboard was the perfect finish along with a pot of tea. The service was great, friendly staff and the view outside was beautiful. Thank you for an amazing day.

Very busy and vibrant atmosphere, they defiantly didn't turn down any customers, as everyone was on top of one another. During Level 2, would know if this was ideal. The food was what you would expect from a entry level cafe. Not to much individuality there however the lemonade was next level. Over all OK. Maybe would of been better on a sunnier day.

Booked in at 9.30am for breakfast. The place got very busy during our time there, but the many staff seemed to keep up well with the orders. Our group of 4 were very happy with our coffee orders and salmon bene and the pancakes. However, the scrambled eggs that came with the 'works' was very odd , more like a thin, chopped omelette, and the store bought triangular hash brown was deep fried and overcooked, it was so hard and crispy. Someone on another table also had the hash brown and when he tried to cut it, it went flying off the plate, onto the floor. Overall, a nice, spacious place and would go again.

This café/ restaurant is located off the main street, do hunt for it because, honestly it is superior to all the cafés in Hanmer ~ the food is extremely fresh, well presented and a great variety, notwithstanding value for money 💰 😀 The young chaps who own it, are by far one/both of them the nicest gentleman, well mannered and excellent customer service ~ they welcome you as you enter and say goodbye 👋 Their staff are super helpful. Do eat here 😋 you won't regret it.

Great location, sunny & warm setting. Menu looked really appealing but I ordered a pork belly (which is only good if the meat is tender). The meat was tough & chewy, the sauce & pineapple salsa really salty. Heard two people send their meals (from the cabinet) back as they were cold. Service was top notch and the food was fantastic. We were a bit sceptical with the variety on the menu but I had the crusty skin salmon which is difficult to cook at the best of times, but the chef nailed it. My wife had the curry of the day which was 'beef', not beef madras or beef vindaloo just 'beef', just like the salmon it was sensational. Kids had good old sausage and chips which was a perfect size, as was the kids sundae. Only reason we didn't give 5 stars is it felt a bit like a cafe, which it is by day, and they could've maybe dimmed the lights and put on some ambient background music. Great experience.

I went there a bit grumpy and down, I did not want to pay that much for breakfast but I had a hankering for hash brown and scrambled eggs. Honestly the best scrambled eggs I have ever had, hash browns were great and with amazing views who could complain. Well worth the money.

Great location so still has potential if a couple of things are sorted. Can't say I was overly impressed with the naval neckline you confront at the ordering counter! Fabulous family meal at Salt n Pepper. 7 adults, 4 small children - food and drink fabulous. Decent kids meals with a small toy box. Fantastic views of the hills, and away from the main road and across from playpark and duck pond. Out of season we had the Saturday night deal - porterhouse steak, chips, salad and pepper sauce or fish and chips with a glass of wine or beer for $22. Quite possibly the best deal we've had in NZ so far in all our trips. Our third trip in 2 months - and we'll be back next time.

Lovely place and delicious food with excellent fast and friendly service and definitely value for money however it was disappointing that the only gluten free dessert option,a brownie, was not available to order as I was told this had been sold out during the day.Nothing else was offered to me instead so they need to improve the dessert menu to cater for all diets.We loved the food so much we returned the next day for brunch but again the one thing I picked to eat which was eggs benny with hollandaise sauce,they could not serve to me because they had no hollandaise sauce.Luckily there were other gluten free options to eat but still not good enough for a cafe to run out of stuff.I would of given these guys 5 stars because they are one of the best places to eat in Hanmer.
