So yum! Love the freshly my bao and cocktails, not to mention the long list of side dishes. The tofu bao was amazing, but be aware you need to ask for the vegan menu. Wish they just had the tofu bao on their regular menu to avoid the hassle of asking. Meal for 2 people with drinks was 90, very reasonable.

Best little restaurant in Hastings! Vegan options on point (love the panang sauce on the tofu bao and plum sauce on the dumplings.) And the cocktails are creative and made with so much love. Can’t wait to see the expansion!

Very nice place! Great comfort street food, very well thought out. I thought the prices were ok, maybe a bit high for the portions but it was very good. Service was excellent, and the ambience was really cool. There is a garden bar coming soon, we will definitely come back to see that.

This is an amazing restaurant in the funky part of Hastings. The restaurant has a lovely vibe. The staff and owner are attentative and lovely. The food and drink selection is comprehensive and delicious. We enjoyed the best cauliflower dish in Hawkes Bay, and of course complemented by Korean chicken which is always amazing, we added tandoori fries which were mouth watering morsels of loveliness!. All while we had Tsingtau beer (probably one of the few places to drink authentic chinese beer!) . Lastly the owner gave us some complementary green tea dumplings, which just added to the most lovely experience. Would make this a must stop visit if you come to Hawkes Bay!

Just had our first time at Fun Buns and wowza! Super tasty food, just the right portion sizes, fizzing atmosphere and kick-as cocktails! We’ve found my new favorite Hawke’s Bay restaurant and definitely will be back! Sadly I ate everything before thinking about photographing the delish food. Fun Buns for life!!!!

This was a very enjoable meal. It was a bit different than expected but a good meal and a bit of fun. There is casual seating so we sat at a table with another group. The dishes came out staggered so it was a bit like a rolling meal. The food was nice. There seemed to be a lot of hoisin sauce which was a little over powering. Our daughter loved the chips but was not so keen with some of the fillings. Overall a good experience. Under $100 for a family of 3 including a round of drinks. Plenty of food and nice food. People were sitting outside eating on a cold night. Like, if people are sitting outside in the cold to eat then, well, kinda gots to be good right? So I walking up and I pushed the door but it was one that pulled or vice-versa, and I thought people were looking at me thinking that I have gone to the school for the gifted, that the sign says pull and he’s pushing, what a rube. It made me super self-conscious, and I thought people outside eating would think I was probably wanted for crimes of various levels and degrees and possible a registered nonce. So I walked away fumbling for my phone to ‘take’ a call' But people eating outside in the cold… Got to be good right?

Went to Funbuns two years ago then returned to the U.K. I've been looking forward to going back. The clue's in the name. Great fun restaurant and the buns are to die for. A great selection of sides and everything is delicious. A great fun casual meal. Looking forward to more Funbuns before returning to the U.K. Give it a try.

Interesting experience with food but it didn't meet my expectations. Pricing was semi fair for what we got. Deep fried food was double Fried (KFC). Fried Cauliflower was borderline burnt. Bao buns were decent and probably the only thing I would recommend here with a side of drink. Cocktails were good but Sadly only 3 options for Mocktails. Ambience n interior decoration is nice and service was excellent but the food leaves a lot to be desired. I wish there was an option for 3.5 stars as this is a decent place for a few after work drinks, might visit again to give it another go!

Great atmosphere and setup, food options are limited and portion sizes are comparatively small, no option to upgrade. Prizes on menu are just alright, saying it only because the food is worth it, it was delicious and beautifully presented. Staff is friendly and good, some good music and a good place for some small hangouts.

Just had the new takeaway option and was very impressed! Well packaged and just as tasty as in the restaurant! Maybe try small local operators producing freshly cooked food rather than the big multinationals! Highly recommend.

I really enjoyed the food here and the vibe to the whole restaurant was really cool. All the waiter staff were very friendly and helpful as well. I would recommend any of the steamed buns and the cauliflower or the mushroom sauce chips as a main. One star taken off because I thought it was a little expensive otherwise a great place to eat out

Hi new and modern Asian food with great service and hospitality. I highly recommend you try this. The food was amazing followed by the very friendly service and great atmosphere. A must for all ages. Had to check out what everyone is talking about. Love the decor and it was pumping. Food was yummy and service was great although I really did struggle to really enjoy it all as it was so hot as there is no air conditioning. I'll wait until winter to visit again.
