L.First timer at Mamacitas, ordered online for pickup which was a lil longer then expected. However was worth the wait food cooked perfectly tasty dishes all round! Recommended
I.The food here is insanely good and while the consistency isn't always 100%, those flavours are really well prepared. The food is prepared at a good pace, so you aren't waiting for long to receive your order which is great.
Staff are friendly and laid back, and seem to have good knowledge on what is on offer.
The environment is rickety and mismatched but it is definitely clean and tidy. There is usually plenty of room to eat, and the ambience overall is dim and cosy.
P.If you can get a seat, it is worth a feed. There are some lovely sauces available if you want to spice things up, I did. So yummy, and the mocktails are lovely as well.
S.Delicious food, that is fresh, fast and flavoursome.
Highly recommend the pork ribs and the beef brisket quesadilla. The sangria is great too, and isn't heavily watered down with ice as some other bars might do.
Note the covered outdoor area out the back is nice to get some fresh air.

N.Really tasty food. Suggestion from waitress was 2-3 items each and share. We had 2 each and was way too much. So, I recommend 1 item each and a second per 2 people.
T.Just a typical Mexican western restaurant with normal food and normal service. The chicken was nice and the ribs were cooked well but in this day and age you've got to aim to be the best or you won't get avid food lovers like myself back again. The ambiance of the restaurant is good and this place has potential but get the chefs together to actually taste the food and get them to be proud of it. The waitress was a bit unsure of the menu too. Got some things to work but still a solid 3 stars.

Friendly staff helped us the recommended dishes (Mamacita Fried Chicken, Pulled Pork Quesadilla) were quite nice. If the chicken was a bit more tender it would have been perfect, pulled pork was super good!
Thought the portion of the dishes could be better, but it was alright.
Dishes were served surprisingly quickly which is always good.
Price was reasonable too so all things considered, good experience. Would definitely go again.
J.Friendly staff, colorful restaurant. Food quality was great, but I would not call this “Mexican” cuisine. Everything was a bit sweet. Music was Cuban... chipotle sauce tasted like sweet barbecue sauce, not at all like chipotle.

This was our first visit at mamacita and wont be the last one. From the service to food everything was A+. We were explained that food comes and its prepared so there is no course style dinning. They have very good selection of drinks both alcoholic and non alcoholic options. Restaurant was very busy for a Tuesday night and they had to start waiting as restaurant was full. I personally didnt like the decor much but that's just me. Their manager Maggie and the girl who served us couldn't get her name but can remember spelled with "C" were outstanding at service.
Not sure but please book just to be on safe side.

S.Great food...but poor experience...bungled our Hastings bookings, so had to drive 40 minutes return journey to Havelock North...got compensated with some free desserts for the inconvenience.

A.Great ambiance and atmosphere. Food is average at best. The fried chicken/burger is quite dry and not much flavor. The quesadillas are good, I had beef and pork both were quite delicious. Typical Tex Mex food.

b.Great food, good service. Micheladas were poor though. Much too week. Should be a 1:1 ratio of beer to tomato juice but they give you 10:1. No tobasco or worcestershire sauce in them either. Go hear for food and margaritas, go elsewhere for micheladas

It's a very popular restaurant. I've been there 3 or 4 times and every night was full packed.
M.This place is a good place to spend some family time. We love the ambience and the food. My wife and I just loves the Mamacita's Fried Chicken (a must try) and the beef Quesadillas. The prices are justifiable per serving. It is a good place for sudden family dinner get-together.
New Review: Pumpkin Quesadilla is not as good as it used to be: a whole new flavour. A little change in their recipe for Mamacita Fried Chicken and Beef Quesadilla.
A.The service was great, girl in the white shirt was especially friendly. Portions we're rather small and I wouldn't go if it wasn't two tacos for the price of one. Otherwise food tasted great and the atmosphere was vibrant. Overall a 3/5
E.Service was OK but there is nothing worse than leaning on a restaurant table being able to feel how grubby it is. The floor under my table was the same. Food was OK, but for the price, expected a little better.
B.Food is yummy if you are looking for something fresh and quick. The margarita I highly recommend the classic one , perfect balance. The atmosphere make's you feel in Latin America .
My suggestion for the staff, please guys don't be in a rush. Sometimes the customers need time to enjoy their meals. Appart of that is good place to go.
L.We really enjoyed our meal at Mamacita. The portion sizes were large and the food had a lot of flavor. The service was good and the food came out really quickly after we ordered it. We ended up ordering too much food, so next time we'd order one or two dishes and then order more after. The place has a cool vibe and is a great find tucked away in Havelock North.

Time to upgrade to a bigger venue. Very squished, tables a bit close together if you're only a small group of 4.
Better to say you have 6 and get seated at a more spacious table.
But, don't let this deter you, the food is ecstatic, and the staff are very welcoming and friendly.

It was busy tonight and as we ordered we thought there night be a wait for our food.....not at all, everything came out quickly and as per usual the food and drinks were great! A.Quesadillas were reasonably true to style fish dish was good, but drinks were pricey. We also found it quite noisy and hard to hear the waitress. Np bookings allowed so it was turn up and take your chance that there will be a table available. Better suited to casual dining.

K.I'm gluten free and my wife is vegan, so it can be a challenge to find a restaurant that does both well. Mamacita delivered without disappointment. We shared some GF vegan dishes, all very tasty and varied (altho I will say the taco was our least favorite). They even made a special GF vegan dessert for us which wasn't on the menu. That was just up our alley, a kind of chocolate mousse, well balanced flavour, tasty and not too sweet. We'd love to visit again sometime!
