B.This restaurant makes Hands Down the best Indian Curries, Starters and Naans.
I’ve eaten here twice now, and both times this quaint looking restaurant has absolutely brought out the best in the flavour department.
The Starters are sublime with traditionally Tandoor cooked Chicken, in house made samosas and several delectable vegetarian items.
The curries are thick and rich, a head and shoulders above any other restaurant I’ve sampled in the Bay. The Naans also are puffy and hot, with no shortage of cheese and garlic on that variant of Naan. Honestly I’d go here just for those.
Whether you live near or far, give this unassuming looking restaurant a try. You’ll find yourself walking out the door at the end while planning your next visit. This is one of my absolute favourites in Hawkes Bay. A well earned five stars for flavour alone.
A.This is my favourite Indian restaurant both for take aways and eating in. Extensive menu including dosa and street food dishes, amazing breads and desserts. Tonight I ordered paneer tikka masala (hot) and butter chicken and it was the best meal I have had in a long time. Naan bread had been included and was so soft and delicious. Excellent level of spice in the hot vegetarian dish and a wonderfully flavourful butter chicken.
Can’t recommend The Great Chilli and it’s chef enough. Definitely worth the visit. *****

M.Finally, in all my travels in NZ, the Great Chilli listened to my request for extra garlic in my garlic naan, and provided it. Excellent! That’ll keep the vampires away 😂. And the lamb bhuna was tender and very tasty. On time delivery and good social distancing.
A.A beautiful rich curry and the staff treat you like a guest in their home. What I really enjoyed was the way the same curry, that I have ordered at the other two Indian restaurants in havelock, had its own unique flavour. The dosa is perfect and tandoori chicken succulent.

B.Not a bad feed, a group of 5 of us walked in last Friday night with 5 minutes to closing time. The owner let us in with a grin and took our orders despite letting most of his workers head home. We were treated with a tasty curry and good service.

C.YUM! YUM! YUM! We took our grandparents to lunch at The Great Chilli Indian Restaurant and OMG the best butter chicken we've had!! The goat was good too!! Definitely the place to go for a great indian dining experience. Awesome customer service. Highly recommend this restaurant.

G.Best Indian I have had in a long time! Went a month ago with a group of 7 of us. Service was amazing, food all came out timely and was delicious, naan wasn't greasy, all the curries were fresh and delicious - not one of us disliked a dish. Was only visiting the area but will be back for sure!

I have lived in India, in Gujurat, Maharashtra, Kerala and Tamil Nadu. And I can say this food is as good as it gets! Will be enjoying it at least every week!

S.Had a lovely meal here tonight, service was very personable and kind. The cheese and garlic naan was amazing, and we really enjoyed our food. My husband got the Mughlai chicken and I had the lamb biryani.

A.Ordered lamb Rogan Josh for delivery and selected extra hot. Finally an Indian restaurant who makes curry to the heat level requested. It was a proper bottom burner and exactly as I wanted. Tasty as. Well done

S.Jack of all, Master of none. With over 100 things on the menu you can't really expect to have an authentic experience. Momos and palak paneer were good but the "authentic" Hyderabadi Dum Briyani left us with nothing but disappointment. Service could be improved. Hopefully the Chef and team take my feedback positively.
S.We initially went to another Indian restaurant nearby and since they were closing for the afternoon, they suggested going to the Great chilli. And what a lucky find! It was an excellent meal. I had the veg thali and my wife had the dosa. And it was as good as any Indian meal made at home. We will go back tomorrow and the day after too. 😜
P.Lamb Madras was fab, soft and juicy meat, great flavours. Butter chick was enjoyed by the kids. The best Indian in Havelock. Clearly a great chef here.
K.A wonderful quaint Indian restaurant serving DEVINE Indian cuisine. Service was intimate polite even after hours. We arrived in Hastings on a late flight we asked Google for recommendations Google came up with a few choices but at 3 kitchens are closed. The 4th choice door sign said open but you could see they were about to close. We asked are you still open. He asked what would you like We said we were looking for dinner he said take a seat I will open the kitchen . We were served promptly the Rogan Josh was perfect Tikka Masala was tasty and the Chicken Korma second to none. Throughly recommend Licensed too 👌 🍺
