Have stopped here 3 times now and will try to stop when I can. Their fish and chips are really good. They have a good selection of different types of fish and other items as well as burgers. The cooked food was really good and the chops were golden and crispy the way i love. Service is good through a window to the street but it give you the feel of a food cart so was all good. All round great service and the food is top notch. Will be trying a burger next time for sure.

Had good reviews and ratings, pretty busy little place (which tells me they must have decent food). I asked the staff members about the lasagne; unfortunately no one had tried this item so I gave it a try. It was adequate for the price, however it could do with some salt and pepper. I probably would try the place again, but definitely a different meal.

Not a bad fish and chips shop, chips are excellent and the fact you could choose which salt you wanted is really appreciated but the fact that the hoki that is being used seems to be frozen is a real shame. All in all good takeaway

Quite shocked to see this has 3.9 stars only. A true classic kiwi fish and chip shop. No fancy stuff, just good fresh fish and chips, burgers, normal prices, would 100% go again. Really enjoyed it! Friendly staff too!

Delectable food and good portion for the price you pay! Got the standard fish and chips and a seafood platter shared among 6 of us and it was thoroughly enjoyable. Fried to a nice golden airy crisp. Will be back when I visit Hokitika again!

Terrible service. Most of the workers are not very friendly, felt like we were inconveniencing them. We were expecting a small town type hospitality, but did not receive that all. There was a younger girl working who handed us our food who was pleasant though. Ordered the Blue Cod Special. Crinkle cut fries were good, but fish was very bland and obviously frozen. They give out tartar sauce packets that were terrible and made the fish taste even worse! They also charge for ALL sauces, including tomato sauce. So my fries had to be eaten plain. Wife got a veggie burger, which was actually pretty good.

Amazing fish & chip shop. Owned and operated by locals. There is a reason they have lines out the door. Best place in town for your takeaway needs. Large section of burgers fish and all the extras.

Wow! what a huge improvement compared to our last experience 10yrs ago. The food much better with timely friendly service. Only recommendations would be, please wear gloves when handling food especially when you are working at the till.

When I called to place my order I was answered politely, unfortunately when i arrived to retrieve my order there was no pleasant address, instead I stood awkwardly at the counter watching the three people behind the counter none of whom said "I'll be with u in a minute " there was only four people waiting in the shop. A bit of customer service would have been great!! But not recieved.

We just got hot dogs and chips for the kids. The hot chips were awesome. Thd hot dogs the kids wouldn't eat because they had the big palonie red sausages in them. If they could please have the option of a plain sausage in the hot dogs that would be great. Very busy popular place. Nice food. Easy location and good parking. Quick good fast service. Unfortunately the 'scoops' just seem to be getting smaller and smaller unlike the price! Reply to owner's comment.... Thanks for your reply. Its not just the crinkle cut chip size. The standard scoop size of just your normal chips is small as in sizing now too. We also bought a scoop of wedges which was practically a quarter of a bag! Use to be able to get a feed of PC's and it would fill the family up. No where near it now. Just a shame as your food is delicious but unfortunately not value for $ in portion size

A good value takeway shop. The wait wasn't very long and they have a good selection. They also make milkshakes and they have a small ice cream bar. The fish and chips were very good, especially the kumara chips. Dont let the ramshackle look of the burgers fool you - The burgers are large and very yummy. You can add a range of extra ingredients like egg, cheese, bacon, mushrooms. All in all a good takeaway place.

Crumbed Hoki was a perfect triangle shape, kind of like sealords from the supermarket, nice flavour but a little processed. the standard fish had an extremely strong fishy flavor, squid rings were average and the whitebait burgers are more like an eggy fritter with a hint of whitebait, chips were cooked well. Cost about $60-70 for 3 of us so quite an expensive takeaway
