It's a very good and authentic Indian restaurant. I can recommend the Pepper Chicken Gravy and Kerala Fish Curry. Both delicious and not what you'll usually find in New Zealand. They cook all meals fresh, so it can take 30 minutes for food to come. Enjoy

The butter chicken and seasonal vegetables meal that I had last night from this restaurant, as a takeaway meal, was the best meal I’ve ever eaten from any restaurant I’ve ever ordered food from. It was so delicious. There was the biggest variety of seasonal vegetables. Thank you so much, would very highly recommend.

We had fabulous experience last night,had best indian food after ages.Was really busy but still managed to get the food on time with prompt service.Thanks to the lady on the counter who offered pappadoms and rice for our little ones who didn't mind waiting for the food. The restaurant is big and spacious and open to the street.We went early evening so nice to look out on the High Street.The restaurant was not busy but a number of takeouts were on the go.We ordered Vegetarian platter to share it was very tasty and satisfying. I had the prawn curry he had the goat.Both enjoyably.We would go back.

I dined in at Chilli Masala as we walked by earlier in the day and my sister had recommended the place. The restaurant was bustling with a wide range of people from different cultures which was impressive see. The staff was most inviting and accommodating by seating me immediately as he quickly cleared up the recently vacated table. I ordered a mango lassi and a glass of Pepperjack Shiraz whilst I looked over the menu which was extensive and impressive. My dishes I decided upon were the Masala Dosa and the Kerala Fish Curry both ordered Indian hot. The cuisine was amazing and so flavoursome and the diss was one of the best I’ve ever had. Highly recommended with distinction!

We dropped in on a casual visit because we were aching for a really authentic Indian meal. We just settled for a commerners' plain dosai. In less than 15 minutes the meal arrived and We must acknowledge to say it was good will be a complete understatement. This was great. Very crispy warm dosai served with red and white chutney and sambaru. Service was excellent too. We were so happy we visited the place. Good luck guys keep it up. Five stars without any doubts.

Cannot rate this restaurant highly enough. Best curries we have ever tasted. Service and staff are fantastic too, especially Amit who is so friendly and helpful. The best Indian food I've had in the Wellingtom region, if not the whole country! I highly rate this place! Me and a friend went for lunch last Saturday and we had the most lovely waiter! Amazing food! I've ordered plenty of dishes from this place (meat and vegetarian) and they have all been perfect. They tend to be on the hotter side (which is great for me) but if you don't like it spicy be sure to order mild. Their Dosa are particularly good!

As regular visitors we are welcomed enthusiastically by staff members the moment we walk through the door. You’ll also find that Chilli Masala consistently serves some of the best Indian food you’ll find anywhere in New Zealand. I'm your typical white New Zealander, which of course means I ordered Butter Chicken from this fine Indian establishment. Why would I dive into the spice pot when all the creamy goodness a man (or woman) could ever want or need can be found in this perfectly succulent dish. The chicken is as tender as Ben E. Kings smash hit single "Stand by Me". The sauce, more creamy than an overpriced Mr. Whippy soft serve on a hot summers day. The Naan was smothered garlic which could or could not have been crushed into the bread by someone's amputated arm stump but honestly it tasted amazing regardless of whether this is true or not. If you're a basic white New Zealander then look no further, this is the place for you. 11.66 out of 10.

I have been to the restaurant several time before and I like the restaurant ambiance , customer service and food quality. Had lamb biriyani for first time from chilli masala and the review is mainly for that. 24$ for that lamb biriyani is not justifiable- taste , flavour . Quantity is normal.

Peppered goat curry (Indian hot) was absolutely delicious! Service was friendly and fast. Very attentive. Meal for six, vege and non-vege platters were good size. Naan breads were piping hot and buttery moist. Two butter chickens, a rogan josh, a mutter paneer, a peppered chicken and a peppered goat. All very tasty and moreish. Great spot for a family kai.

Fantastic, attentive service from all the staff, really authentic flavors and spices, not too sweet like most NZ Indian restaurants, but actually how it should taste. The Dosas are superb, love the lollipop chickens and every main I have tried has been perfect. Their Indo-Chinese dishes are also superb. Best Indian restaurant around in my opinion.

The food was fabulous and the best thing I liked was the garlic naan which was cooked all the way through and not even a single corner was uncooked or raw which is very unusual nowadays in Indian restaurants. From the time, I've moved to Wellington, i was longing for place with authentic Indian food (Mumbai style). I have tried tge Dahi Bhallas (though these are not on the menu anymore...I loved them). Tea (Chai)...I can't pen down how much I'm in love with Chai from here ...I would drop by only to have the tea. Well in terms if the staff....they have been very warm and welcoming 🙏🙂...none the less have always been prompt in their service. Methi Matar Malai is definitely a MUST TRY💞 Amit...is definitely and undoubtedly a STAR 🌟...He is definitely welcomes guest with a very warm heart..❤ and even provides proper explanation for the spice levels.

My family (with 3 kids) and I have eaten here a couple of times and both times the service and food were just THE BEST. The food is so tasty and authentic and possibly the best naan I've had here or in India. There were lots of other diners which is usually a sign of a good restaurant!

Such a lovely place. Been coming here for 11 years and the staff and food are as great as ever. Started as a small takeaway place and because of it's consistency, quality and great staff it's expanded into a really decent dining restaurant. We went on office dinner with my workmates and it was amazing choice to go to chilli masala. The manager sandeep was very helpful and was making sure that we had good time and food there. He suggested very good dishes to my non Indian boss who loved it. Great service and great food. We are proud to service Chilli Masala i am was amazed at the cleanliness of this restaurant compared to many that i have serviced over the years. So one night i decide to go and try out the food and again surprised me, with probably one the most tastiest curry's that have ever had at a restaurant. i also noticed the professionalism of the staff while saying hello to the owner, it is what i would defiantly call a five star restaurant. Chilli Masala serves the most authentic Curries, Indo Chinese and Tandoori Dishes. I have visited this restaurant several times with my friends in the last 5 years and always have had above-average customer satisfaction both from a food and service perspective. Unlike many other Indian restaurants, Chilli Malala prepares their meal using authentic ingredients and each dish tastes the way it should and takes me to a trip down the memory lane! Kudos to Sandeep and the Chilli Masala management for serving delicious Indian dishes.

Very tasty curry in Lower Hutt. One of the few places I could find that sells goat on the bone! Very friendly staff. The naans came out a little burned but they quickly replaced them for us. The curries were delicious! The restaurant is popular with the locals. Parking can be difficult because it's close to the shopping center (nothing they can do about this though, just book a table earlier).

Great Indian Restaurant that serves delicious, piping hot, value-plus lunch specials on large white, heated plates. They also offer a generous basket of nan which is served sizzlingly hot. Their premise is medium large with ample room for larger groups and the setting is comfortable and well laid out. Find a generous lunch menu or opt for their a la carte one which offers more delicious options. Their kedai curries consistently stand out above those from other Indian restaurants. CM is often packed at lunchtime so it pays to avoid the lunch-rush by visiting later. However do not leave it too late because the waiter can get atad grumpy and start sweeping around your feet at 2.30 pm sharp if you're not out the door by then!! (although after Covid-19, they do look genuinely pleased to see their regulars).

I've been eating food from here before they had the restaurant the food and service is always excellent and my kids love there butter chicken. You can watch the chefs cook your meal in the tandoori oven. The kitchen/ cooking area is super clean. Well worth a try.

With its special spices, it has a mild touch of chili flavor but strong and lingering tastes of fine curry. 🍛Vegetable Jaipuri - I ordered hot and it is truly HOT🔥but it goes perfect with naans and rice! Finished them all without guilt. 🍛Service - staffs are friendly and nice. But you need to wait at least 20 minutes to be fed. Prompt service of offering water. By the way it’s a really good place for vegetarians. 🍛My husband’s friend (a native Indian) highly recommended this place and it seems his favorite restaurant in Wellington. Worth a visit if you like Indian food!

In 2015, this was our go-to place for everything. Since I moved into Auckland, we came to Wellington for a vacation and took our parents here and was totally disappointed. What ever happened in the past, we went there again in Easter 2019 and I should say they have upped their game. The food was awesome and tasty. If Chilli masala is listening, your restaurant has the standard with regards to the food and interior. Just improve on the service, ask the staff to smile. They are too serious and felt like they didn't like the job they are doing. Keep up the standard in the food

Came in today on recommendation. The Mango chicken curry was really good. The lunch portion and price were great. The cheese and garlic naan was amazing. We came in 10min before close though and were made to takeout. That was disappointing. If youre open until 230, then you seat people until 230. Thats my opinion. Would recommend though to anyone in the area. Good, clean place to grab some indian cuisine.

The food was OK. I have fond memories of Chilli Masala as I used to visit pretty regularly a couple of years ago. This time I did not enjoy the food quite as much. Every curry has its own different taste but my favourites are goat curry, bhuna chicken, chicken Andhra spicy and chicken korma. Chicken 65 is best starter and their garlic naan is to die for. Manager Sandeep is very friendly and always welcoming. He always greets me by my name and knows what dish i like the most. He is now like a friend to me.
