Very good service and set up of the tables during level 2. The was incredibly comforting and rich in flavours. We had seafood risotto a salmon pasta, both 100% recommend.

Had a great lunch here. 10/10 for the kai, I ordered the fettuccine lamb ragu. Was so juicy and melted in the mouth! My only critique would be the service was ok. I waited on the waiter for 10 minutes after I was ready to order, ended up going up and asking if I can order at the counter. Also, didn’t come and check in after receiving my meal to ensure everything was alright. Just a small critique I’m sure could be easily fixed! Other than that she was lovely and helped me pick out a beautiful wine to go with it. Definitely will be back.

Tasty food, warm place, good service and nice atmosphere! Booked our table a week ago, mentioned in the note it is for mum's birthday, got a reply on the following day with options of cakes from their menu due to their no BYO nor cake policy. Absolutely sensational. We popped in for lunch and were shown to our table and had the specials explained to us (with great passion). We decided on the special pizza and cannelloni which was a family recipe. We were blown away by how delicious the food was. The staff were attentive, helpful and friendly. We took a look around as there is a store attached to the restaurant and purchased the delicious soft drink we had, alongside some pasta and cured meat. We will definitely be coming back soon, couldn’t recommend more highly.

Very good quality of the oil used to flavor the pizza. Crowded but large room and well ventilated, friendly and attentive staff even if I was sorry to note that some of them serving at the tables weren't wearing masks at all.

Love La Bella Italia! Went here for a group dinner with 30 people. Staff were really welcoming and looked after the group really well. They were very accommodating for various dietary requirements such as no gluten or dairy. We had some lovely starter platters and a mixture of pizzas and other mains. The pizzas are really tasty and quite large. I’ve eaten from their pasta menu in the past and it is just as good. Would recommend this restaurant for anyone looking to have a good Italian meal out.

Went there with a group of 10 people. We all agreed that food was great but service was disappointing. We had just arrived but waitress expected us to order right away, when we asked for a minute, she literally came back within a minute. We feel hurried and not welcomed. To make it even worse, when it's time to pay, cashier was seemly frustrated, I told her to take her time, but she replied with rude comment. Definitely not coming back. I personally wanted to give 2 stars, but just don't want to hurt business. We may have been at the wrong time possibly dealing with casual staffs.

Really average. This place has been amazing in years gone by but on returning it has gone badly downhill. Our group had multiple pizzas, a pasta and deserts. Nothing was great or even good. Damn expensive for average food. Felt like the staff were totally over it, especially our server who was utterly disengaged and not wearing a mask. A real shame.

My partner brought me here when we were in town. She was raving about how great it was the other times she'd been here. She wasn't wrong. The food was incredible! From the pasta, to the pizza to the gelato we had for desert. We will definitely be coming back here next time we are in town. We also loved how there was a demonstration on how to make pasta while we were there. That's something we want to do as well. Would recommend over and over!

Went here for dinner Valentine's eve. Even though they were fully booked they made space for me. Service was great and I was run through the specials and given honest recommendations. The warehouse is set up just like how places are in Italy. You can tell by the hospitality of the gentleman who owns the place and the staff how serious Italians are about their food. I had the truffle ravioli and tiramisu. Needless to say it was absolutely delicious. Will be returning when I am in Welly again.

It's been a while since we'd been to LA Bella Italia. Service was fairly friendly, efficient and attentive. The food was well received by all in our party with excellent comments. I ordered a mixed funghi pizza which had a very generous helping of what looked like Swiss brown mushrooms, and the base was soft with a crunchy crust - most enjoyable. I would have liked to have had some other flavour such as basil or to have been able to add a dash of chilli oil to give it a slight kick. I find that with pizza options hovering close to the $30 mark and other mains close to $40, it is quite a pricey night out. Though the servings are relatively generous, I would have opted for a smaller amount of food at a cheaper price if that was an option. Yes it's possible to take uneaten food home but they charge $1 for a doggy bag which seems cheeky considering how much the meals are to start with. When we settled the bill, we were also charged for a juice we never ordered or received. My personal overall impression - nice food but not the best value for money.

Visited yesterday 9 November for lunch. Great table service from friendly knowledgeable staff who were respecting Level 2 rules and couldn't be faulted. My Linguine alle vongole (bianca) a dish I loved in Venice, was very good and so was the crusty stuffed chicken breast that my wife had. Unfortunately I suffered a medical incident (age and health related - nothing to do with the food) and had to be revived. Antonio, Luisa and Miriam were exceptionally kind in assisting my wife and I would like to thank them here publicly . Thank you La Bella Italia - the best Italian restaurant in New Zealand.

It's a nice place with friendly staff but we were not allowed to celebrate a birthday with a cake on the table. I ordered chicken breast and got a chicken breast with one carrot on the plate for $35. The chicken was dry and I could not swallow it, they did make another one that was better. Usually we have a good time here but this time we were let down, and on a special occasion.

Good risotto, but the environment isn’t very great. Feels like a grocery store. The service isn’t the best either, they never check in. If you’re charging 25-30 a plate you’d expect a higher end experience. Would be better if they separated the shopping area and restaurant area.

Fantastic shop and cafe of all things Italian. It is foodie Paradise. You can get the perfect ingredients, get the advice and history of origin of all the produce, and you can even learn to cook it authentically, the way it's should be done. Of course you can sample the food and wine in the delightful cafe and bar. The ice cream are certainly the best in Petone if not the whole of Wellington. They are generous helpings too. You simply need to experience Bella Italia to believe how good it is.

Food was beautiful. The lady who served us was helpful and cheerful. Being the first time back there in 9+ years I didn't know what to expect but I was pleasantly surprised. Had the Arinchini and Lasagna which were both beautiful, creamy and tasty. For drinks I adore an espresso martini and MAN it was strong so if you're getting it, make sure you can hold your booze, very worth it though. The prices are expensive but reflect the quality of the food. I can happily say I will be back, and within the next 9+ years lol. Thank you for the lovely service to the lovely lady who served us! Best Italian in the Wellington Region! A nice environment in the restaurant which features a mini Italian supermarket, a deli, baked treats, various Gelato flavors and of course the pizza oven and kitchen. The food is great with good entrees , excellent pizza and pasta and good choices for dessert. Amazing!

I had a pizza and a dessert delivered to me from a friend who had lunch there, and I gave them some cash for my order. The pizza was good, it was the Salsiccia. the sausage is definitely the highlight of the dish. I got the Tiramisu della Casa. It was good but for the money it was a small dessert. I saw online it was $13.50 but apparently they charged $9. Even for $9 is was disappointing. They get a 3. It tastes a 4.

Food was ok - my pizza base was soggy and raw through the middle, mashed potatoes was watery, but the crepe was pretty good, it was just very dry. The highlight of the meal was the baked lemon cheesecake. I also found the wait staff a little over zealous - they kept trying to take our plates even though we were still eating (moving food onto other plates etc). Was very overbearing, and took my drink away before I had finished it. Disappointed that this restaurant was selling Black Cardinal fish - the worst ranked fish on the ecology scale. I won't be visiting again because of this.

Never fails! Flavors are consistently good. Calamari was cooked just right, mussels and cockles were delicious! Our waiter was very kind to give us more bread to sop up the white wine sauce of the shellfish. Big portions for the risotto and pizza. Super busy last night and the team still managed to deliver good service and great food. We love the ambiance - its a visually interesting cafe, deli and shop which is really popular. Love the desserts and the wine list. We tried both the prosecco and Lambrusco Grasparossa (a red sparking wine also available by the glass). Both wines were quite lovely. I always feel La Bella is a tad pricey but the food, service and services are always consistently good. After more than half a dozen visits (lunch and evening) I can reliably say that La Bella has never let us down.

Our new favourite Italian restaurant. I'm now officially a pizza fan after having their wood fire ones. I've never tasted pizza bases so good. The night finished with an amazing date pudding in ginger caramel desert. The portion was enough for two but I'm a hoarder. :) Life is good. Can't remember what it was called in Italian but it was the first one on the desert menu. The restaurant is uniquely set in their retail shop that adds to the ambience. Our waiter was a super friendly Italian and helped us with the menu. Great thing was if he couldn't describe any of the ingredients in words, he used product from the shelf nearby to show us what it looked like, only difference was what we were having was made fresh in restaurant. Awesome.

The Pizza was definitely the best I had ever in New Zealand. But is it really one of the 70 best Restaurants with Pizza in the world? I don't think so, maybe under the best outside from Europe. Food is good but the interior is like sitting in a nice shed. It would be possible to make it more like an Italien restaurant.

Excellent Italian food and an incredible ambiance. Sometimes I go here just for the atmos. The the food is prepared by specialists with a Pizza Chef down one end of the restaurant and a large Deli area in the middle. They also have excellent Pizza's and Risotto. Easily my favorite Italian restaurant in Wellington. My only criticism is that the tables for two are positioned a little too closely to one-and-other as sometimes myself and my partner feel uncomfortable chatting in ears range from the table next to us.

Went to La Bella Italia for a late leisurely lunch on Anzac Day with my daughter and nearly two year old granddaughter. First impression was that it looked very authentic despite being in an industrial style building. Italian staff were friendly and attentive but not in your face. Food was top rate. Lots of Italian produce for sale in the retail area. Overall a lovely place to head for great food in a family friendly atmosphere.

The selection of food is good and delicious. For dessert there is options on the menu or in their gelato case. The food is kind of expensive on the higher end for Petone. Also an option to pick up some goodies like drinks, dried pasta or other assortments that are gourmet (we haven’t but it’s interesting to look at) Only downside is there’s one member of staff that always looks really grumpy and looks like they hate their job (to each their own, you don’t have to have sunshine shooting out your behind but at least don’t be like I spat in your cereal kind of vibes. Only issue is I think that it’s the owner himself or a family member? Not sure). If can ignore that and not take it personally I’d recommend. The food is pretty nice and the servers are polite.

The aromas of Italian Pizza welcome you on entering this restaurant. It’s busy and if you have a large crowd I suggest you book ahead. What I like about this place is that while you are waiting for your meal you can wander around the shelves holding everything you need for Italian cooking.or you could just sit and admire the staff cooking your pizza whilst chilling on an Italian beer.Before you go check out the deli department which is huge and their gelato ice cream. There is something for everyone here. The meals are good ,really delicimo.

This was only the 2nd time I had been here. The 1st was quite some time ago for lunch. This time was for my belated birthday celebration. When we filled in the online booking it asked if it was for something special and if so what? I did put dwn it was a birthday celebration and a msg said they would be in touch but they didn't. The atmosphere was great and as there was 7 of us we were seated at a large table with plenty of room. The waiter arrived to take our order but we were still deciding so ask him to come back. He did round 10min later. We found his attitude throughout the evening almost like we were annoying. When we ask him about a particular dish or even the wine he was rather obnoxious and grumpy. Everyone was mainly satisfied with their meals. 2 of us had sirloin steak meals with rocket and homemade fries. The steak was lovely the 12 or so chips were ok but soft and the rocket drenched n oil. For $35 I think it could of been more better presented, maybe with some tomatoes or better presented fries. Also the drinks menu is quite expensive.

We've eaten here a number of times as the food is delicious. The female staff are fabulous but what let's the restaurant down in my opinion is that the males who work here, including the owner, are always so stern looking and never smile. It does taint the experience.

About the only annoying thing was some of the tables are not that steady and wobble a little bit something I find very annoying in a restaurant. Knocked off one star because they don't take pay wave which is very important in this time of trying to minimize contact. Yeah they still surcharged for using a credit card.
