Really good atmosphere very kiwi proud! Service was very welcoming and friendly. Steak was tender and delicious. Utensils could have been better but dessert and coffee really hit the spot.

Good food nd drinks tonight bit pricey but still good so one would say quality gas to be on and it was on tonight thanks to our server she was awesome so was the kitchen we got all our food the way we wanted

Excellent food. But even better service! I accidently pressed the "request service" button on our table (each table had one, and it was the first time I've seen those gadgets), and a waiter popped up in seconds.

The food is delicious but over the years the quantity and recipes have definitely changed. The quantity definitely has gone down but the quality and taste only getting better. Dinner last night was very good. Service was very friendly and prompt. One of my families favourite restaurants in Wellington. Ordered Glen Campbell Burger, Dixie Chicken and Stand by your Lamb. For deserts The Milky Bar Pud & Jack Daniels Chocolate Fudge Pudding giving 5+ stars ⭐️ .

Almost everything was awesome. Very pleasant staff. Great food. Drinks were very slow though. Otherwise, very happy customer.

Always a good feed here, looking forward to getting back there soon.

Brilliant old school pub with photos of NZ sporting icons all over the pub with wry comments attached. Great Owner and staff who know how to pour a beer and spin a yarn

Great place to go with huge and delicious meals! Can do big groups also, if you just want a drink there’s also a separate bar area and the staff are great here - friendly and attentive.

They have been in Petone for a long time now and still people come here because of the great food and service. I like the sports and movie themed decors around and in the toilets. The bar is great too if you choose to just drink and watch the sports on the sceeens. Check them out!!

What a wonderful evening, highly recommended and the service was excellent. The steak was cooked perfectly and you sell Mt difficulty which is my favorite. Come all the way down from napier and was impressed 👌100 percent.

Really lovely food and staff were super on task except out mains came when we were only halfway through entree, but that was ok and we all made light of awkward situation. What was the most disappointing was the excessive noise. This totally ruined what could have been a beautiful night out.

As always amazing food and incredible service. Well worth every dollar. The Dixie chicken is to die for, the BB King is tender and melts in your mouth, garlic loaf full of flavor and the best calamari you'll ever have. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

There were 10 of us from the St. Joseph's Parish CWL . The banquet for 10 was superb. Every dish was well presented, hot and plenty to go round

Didn't get cutlery to start with. Ordered a drink with my food and had almost finished the food before the drink came. Got asked if I'd need a spoon to eat my dessert...the alternative was to eat a mushy dessert with my fingers.

We had a lovely group dinner here, no complaints about food which was amazing, staff were helpful and turned on the air con as we were upstairs and it got very hot.

She's a bit full isn't she mate. Lonestar is a little on the pricey side but they have never ever ever let me down. I have always left full as a bull and I would fight anyone who may not agree that they are top 5 for dessert.

Comfortable atmosphere. Steak was delicious. Recommend the garlic butter sauce. Service was a little slow at times. But, the staff was extremely kind and welcoming

Large roomy restaurant. Very basic table and chairs and quite noisy but that I think is the charm. The food however was amazing and delicious. I had the Lassoo Hog. So tender.

Ate here tonight with my daughter. She suggested the quid starter and fish main. The beer, starter and main fish dish was outstanding as was the service and welcome by staff.

Squid rings was Ok. I had a main meal of Fish rock boat which was actually a boat half with leaves to eat. Fish was good. Straight cut chips was not crispy as the other shops give.

Not a bad restaurant, nice layout internally with the tables. Menu is decent but small, service was fast. Restaurant was clean including the toilets which is always a plus. Would of been great if the waitress offered specials and talked about the meals so you could make an informed decision. Meals were of good size based on cost. But overall good service at this place. Only problem is parking, being Petone which can be difficult at times to get a spot.

Awsome service on a night (Monday) when I guess you are usually quiet and wee turned up with 20 people in toe but not just us. The place was full. Your staff were very accomidating, the food was wonderful and we had a memorable night. Thank you

I had fond memories of the Cobb loaf, but did not enjoy this. Overpriced and texture like it had been microwaved. Mains were awesome though and service efficient. Odd that all the female staff seemed all under 21 year old size 6-8 young ladies. I'm sure there must have been young, thin males too but don't recall. We put it down to they must fit easier between the tables as the place does get packed. Overall good.

We had an amazing dinner here, super delicious food, food was delivered fast to our table 👌 and an amazing free dessert with a candle was given for my son's 9th birthday. Super attentive staff and loved the button to push for service, left with a super full tummy lol I would deffinately recommend 🙂

Lamb was great, service was not so good, only one vegetarian option which was bland, took aprox 1 hour to get the correct drinks.. wouldn't return for another meal

It's ok... I feel like the wait for food is really long. We waited about 55 minutes for our meals. I get it's not fast food and real dinners though. Maybe next time we order some starters next time to tide us over, cause I was starving by the time or meals came. It's also pretty loud in there so tricky to have a conversation in a big group. On the plus side, the service was friendly and attentive and food tasty.

Very busy place, had a bit of a wait for a table but the food was quick and tasty. Really great for family gatherings and birthdays.

Food quality the same, quantity less. Was informed that short on staff and not to expect table service in bar area, no one in restaurant while we were there. Disappointing. Thank goodness there was a great barman gave great service thank you.

Waiting staff are the 3 star credit, altho no tables available in restaurant the offer of dining where the bar was and the warm and reassuring gestures made me stop saying "its ok il find somewhere else" and i found myself saying "ok". Food was prompt despite a full house 1 star, but then taken away again due to the food looked good but tasted just ok, bit dissapointing. The fish without the batter tasted really good. The sauces tasted like it was from a cheap brand sauce but that could just be me im not good with store sauces unless its watties tomato sauce👍. The salad was a good quantity better then other restaurants ive been to includn Cafes. Garlic bread for size unbeatable well priced at $12 feed 2 grown men i reckon, only... if your a butter person dont get this it doesnt taste like butter if not you'll love the garlic bread but watch out for the black seeds it kept getn stuck inbetween my teeth but easy to pluck out. Respect to staff fronting restaurant and staff waiting on customers. 👌

If you like your meals large get one of the chicken dishes and upsize it. You wont leave hungry!

Had a great meal at loan star today, great atmosphere and friends, the meal was great. Will definitely come back again, and the staff service was amazing.

Held my mums 50th birthday here, the food was soo yummy and the staff were amazing and very accommodating. We all left very satisfied! Overall it was a great night, however now overshadowed by a call I received. I was phoned advising that they had to order in food for a platter that I no longer needed. I am so very sorry about that! However I was advised that I couldn't pre order food when initially booking and asking about the platters. There seemed to be a misunderstanding or breakdown of communication here somewhere. I didn't realise canceling this on the day would be a major issue to receive a call about days later. At the end of the night me and my family had spent close too $900 worth of food and drinks. To receive a call about a $140 platter that I thought I hadn't pre ordered is a little sad.

Great service with friendly staff. Big helpings of delicious food. The only let down is that it is far too loud. Our table gave up trying to have conversations as we just couldn't hear each other.

So purely based on why we were there. Our group was there for a little dinner and drinks before a hens party started. Not an ideal place for this as you can image our group was loud and the upstairs balcony we were on wasn't ideal as it was not separated noise wide from the rest of thw restaurant. Food was decent drinks were good. More for group dinners then hens parties

The food used to be better and the prices have gone up. Nevertheless still a nice place to go for a family meal. Service is always good.

Always a favorite with my Family! Tonight we had a surprise Birthday dinner for my younger Sister. We booked for 20 people and asked to be seated in a good spot for our Nana who is in a wheelchair, unfortunately whomever took our booking missed this part and had booked us upstairs, but hey things happen the world would be boring if we were all perfect. The manager/owner (Sorry cannot remember your name) was incredible sorted us a different table/s so fast and was just a really nice genuine guy! Our waitresses were lovely, food and drinks were out so quick and on point! We will continue to come back, never disappointed with Lone Star Petone. Thank you all again 👍😊

Beautiful meal on 19/06 scallops were beautifully cooked and cauliflower and bean dish superb would definitely be back and our waitress was so attentive wonderful service.

Beautiful dishes cooked freshly from the Lone Star kitchen. Lovely staff that will help and wait patiently for your decision on the large range menu. Food is warm and displayed in a rustic old cowboy themed restaurant. The seating arrangements are slightly crowded and the servers are often struggled with the demand on food and orders. Easy access for wheel chairs and a disabled toilet available. The restaurant is very good for children and young families due to the large range menu and separate children meals and desserts. Overall the restaurant is beautiful and welcoming to all. My mother had her birthday there tonight and was over joyed as i have very severe allergies and they were able to cater for me with a menu for allergies that are dairy,egg,nut,gluten free etc. I was particularly impressed my our server Renee. Renee was very bubbly and helpful and accommodated all our requests. She was really genuine and a real asset to Lone Star. I highly recommend this restaurant and hope everyone has a lovely time there.

The service was OK, food was good. We booked for a big group 17 - 18 people. They had sold out of dessert - banoffee pie, which was really disappointing.

Mixed up several orders but got it sorted, sort off. waited over an hour for food. Food was okay once arrived although chips than fish. They were very busy. Staff were helpful.

Consistency with cooking steak medium rare needed in my opinion. The manager and women server great very polite and professional.

By far the best restaurant here in Wellington. My family and I are in awe with an excellent environment excellent service from the two friendly waiters of the night Mikayla & Emma, The chef of the night Ro & P excellent food we thoroughly enjoyed it. Highly recommend this restaurant, can never go wrong here, will definitely be back again. Ps thank you for the laugh Emma, it made our night 😁 #bones

Meal was quite small and expensive for what you get, gets very busy at dinner time. All females that work there are in short shorts and skimpy shirts if that's your thing. Personally I don't like it, reminds me of Hooters in America

Waitress did not know the specials nor the fish of the day. Food was delicious and plentiful, reasonably priced. Very noisy, hard to hold a decent conversation, not a place for intimate dining.

It's one of my favourite places to eat. The food portions are large and reasonably priced. It's very noisy when there are a lot of people dinning. Book ahead if you want a table.

Great for catch up drinks at the bar. Love the country sounds and interior. Packed with photos of local and international celebrities. Bathroom decor and layout are nice too.

Last night I went to Lone Star in petone, unfortunately I was a bit disapointed. Staff were very friendly as usual, but the food was a bit underwhelming. My main was not what I was expecting at all, I ordered the rockin rib eye steak. The steak was a bit undercooked compared to what I ordered (medium rare) the flavors were good but I found the steak was very chewy. For a nearly $40 premium aged rib eye steak it was not at all how I had imagined it, there was alot of fat left on the steak and it overall was disappointing. I regret not saying anything to the staff about my steak but they had already taken the charge off of the dessert I had ordered because I waited 30 minutes for it. This place is pricey (I expected it to be) they are generous with serving sizes but my main was unfortunately not what I expected. Having said all of this, the dessert was incredible ( kahlua cheesecake) and my entree (squid rings) was pretty good. I've definitely had some amazing experiences here in the past and I'm hoping that I just happened to go on a bad night.

Arrived and were seated very quickly, our waitress was so lovely and the service was great. My meal when it arrived was hot and nicely presented, the ribs were delicious, the coleslaw included mint, which provided a real freshness. So nice to have a finger bowl on the table. Would return 😎.

Been here a few times and the food has been a bit hit and miss but the last visit it was great. In the main area with a heap of kids and they dealt with us all well.

We came in tonight for my birthday dinner and it was great. Im usually worried about spending that much on dinner because at most places i always walk away feeling ripped off... but not today! The food was amazing. I had the dixie chicken (chicken was a lil tough) and the Beef fillet which was one of the best dishes ive ever had. Everyone else enjoyed their meals also. The only problem i had was not having any room left for desert. The Waitress and staff always came with a smile, which is something i think is important in hospitality and something i appreciate. Thank you Lone Star. Keep up the great work. We now have a new fav eating spot in Wellington.

Great meal, helpful serving staff giving suggestions, nice beers, clean and tidy, the meals are very generous proportions and you won't leave hungry, enjoyed the experience as part of a group celebrating a birthday, well deserved 5 stars

Prompt service, good food with huge portions and nice atmosphere. Our waitress izzy was lovely also. One recommendation would be for more vegetarian options or vegan

Great prices and absolutely beautiful meals. While there I had their rib meal and the meat was delicious. Would highly recommend for anyone wanting a family dinner, team get to gether or any occasion for that matter. The team were also very friendly and super fast with service.

The service is a really mixed bag and really depends on the waiter you get. The worst time was for a friend’s birthday dinner and they kept ignoring our side of the table in the group (furtherest away) and had to be asked multiple times for a cup of hot water after everyone was served their cocktails and other drinks. Food is decent but they need to flavour the potatoes (one of the sides of the main).

Haven't been for years but its still fantastic. Great atmosphere, the music wasn't to loud and the temperature was perfect. We just had some starters and desserts at the bar, but were still treated as if we were there. For full meals. When they ran out of a flavour of margarita jug we wanted we swaped to another and the waitress gave us an extra glass full for our trouble. Cheers

Came to this restaurant by accident as it was raining outside and their decorations is wonderful. Went to it to get a glass of beer and wait for the rain to stops. The staff is friendly and lovely. And their beet Is great. But too bad I haven tried the food so I can't give any comment for it. As from the drink and the decoration, I recommending to come here.

One of 2 restaurants who did charge back to the Motel I'm in for work this week. Monday night had early dinner with a son. Tonight headed down (won't go back to the other one!!) but no table for an hour. Hostess offered take out so did the call amari entree with a coue of sides. Brisk walk back, still hot, great service and option on a busy night. YUM. 2moro may do similar 😊

Really good steak! Had entrée, main and dessert and felt pleasantly full after. A little more on the pricey find but definitely worth it! Would recommend the Crème Brulee for dessert.

Great selection of food and drinks. Large portions which is great for big eaters. Only weird thing was when we went there, all the wait staff seemed to be very very young and had minimal professionalism in their attire and attitudes to serving. Was still happy overall just a very weird decision by management to reflect a nz wide business in this manner.

Dined in this week on Tuesday and brought my daughter and Mum. Meals came fast, the young ladies there had great customer service and you could see they were really making an effort which is great to see. They made sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. The only thing that lost one star on this rating was that we asked if the dessert for my daughter could be brought out with mine and Mum's mains as she gets very figity and impatient and it's hard to dine out with her unless she's very keen on what she's eating (ice cream) but the ice cream didn't come out with the mains as requested and I had to go up twice and ask where it was coz we were almost finished our mains before the ice cream came out. I understand restaurants can get very busy, so my only suggestion to the young lady looking after us that night would have been when she went to the kitchen to check how long the ice cream would take, come back to the customer at the table and say it's on it's way, don't check with the kitchen then go back to chatting with co-workers at reception. Food was 10/10 and arrived fast and how we like it and the girls were lovely <3 Will def come back.

Went for dinner here last night as it was my boyfriend’s birthday and we loved it. The waitress was nice and patient with us. We ordered the Paris Texas and the Shanks Peninsula and we both very much enjoyed our meal. Definitely will be back again.

Food and atmosphere is always great

Firstly, the food is delicious and more than adequately portioned. The staff are attentive, smiley, and friendly . However, if you are unlucky enough to be seated in the main restaurant (through the main doors to the left), be prepared to yell to have you conversation heard by the other people at your table. The sound of general chatter and noise is deafening and somewhat reminds me of a school lunch hall. Ok if you're in a group, but maybe find somewhere else for a quiet date.\, or at least request to be seated in the booths near the bar.

Food is good, a bit noisy if you want a quiet evening out. Good family outing venue. Good service

Held a function here for 70 people. I was really happy with the service, staff, food and cost. As it was a day function, they opened especially for it so it was only us there - just perfect. They waited patiently for everyone to get settled and were super quick and taking orders and brining them out. Food was delicious - not one complaint from and of the other guests. Very impressive Lone Star!

Friendly staff, food was okay but I would have expected slightly better for the price. Twice food was brought to our table that wasn't our order and, my Aunty waited over 15mins for her G'n'T before asking, what looked to be the boss about it. It got really full of people fast, which I guess is a good thing but it was so noisy! Too noisy for us to want to stay for dessert.

Basically get what you pay for - large meals and prompt service. Went here before going to a movie that evening and they were quick and attentive. Faults went down to an overcooked steak (medium rather than very rare) and damaged cutlery, but the evening was nice and went smoothly. Never have room for dessert!

Me and my son desided to go for a night out desided LoneStar got there super friendly staff we did not have a booking but got a nice seat. Ordered some BB Ribs .... ..what a disappointment the ribs were cold not alot off flavor. 4 small rib bones looked like a starter ribs on a massive bed off chips and a garlic infused coleslaw. Not good at all I normally do not eat patato chips.was still hungry for $32 this is disappointing would have been a 1 but the staff was really nice. Update : 10/03/2020 Ok so thought is give it a nother go and how amazing!!!!! Food great had a stake perfectly cooked. Had my mom from visit from SA and have to say I was not disappointed. Thank you so much this is wat I hoped for.

Fast, friendly and efficient. Food and drinks as expected for this type of restaurant. Our waitperson Jordy was fantastic. Very professional.

Lone Star do good, large meals. The staff are usually friendly, and the menu has a reasonable variety. You aren't going to get gormet levels of meal finesse, but it's pretty good. The Petone restaurant can get pretty noisy, as they don't have much sound dampening stuff. It's ok to bring kids, but it's not really a kid focused restaurant. Overall pretty good.

Like in other Lone Stars, this place is awesome as well. Love that consistency, no matter in which city you are-food would be exactly the same. But us this is a bit of a drive, but we don't mind, and go 20km away just to have best pork ribs in town! And I don't really like coleslaw, but in Lone Star order as a side. So tasty!

We got there relatively late, around 9:15ish, but even though we came so close to closing the food was still excellent! Wait time was negligible and wait staff were very pleasent. Johnny cash stash was amazing and the cheesecake was to die for. Overall a wonderful experience, would definitely recommend.

Delicious food and large portions also! Can not turn up a milky bar pudding every time we go here for dinner! Have recently increased prices slightly but you get what you pay for! Treat yourself, book a table today!

Dined at Lone Star Petone last night with my wife and children. Food was good and exceptional service from our waitress Morgan. My wife and I had the 12 ribs and the maverick fillet steak cooked to perfection, absolutely delicious. Children loved their meals too and also got a free drink and ice cream. Thank you for a great night we will definitely be back.

Excellent. Great for families as they have a good kids menu and bring out kids food really quick, provide coloring stuff, just great. Adult meals are excellent and you can take away what you dont eat which is good because the meals are massive. Lovely atmosphere, friendly staff. Would recommend to anyone - couple, family or large group.

Always reliable with fast and friendly service. Sometimes a bit too fast - dining here isn't super relaxing - but the steak is always good. Lone Star Petone has a rather noisy dining room but there are a few dining tables in the bar area which are quieter and more private.

I visited for dinner on an a Wednesday evening with a large group of 18 people. We arrived at 8pm and were told soon after we ordered our food that they were closing early and calling last drinks at 9.20 so we would be gone by 10pm. Thought this was rude given the restaurant had a large number of people eating & drinking not even including our large group.

Great service great food waiting time minimal highly recommended. Wife requested heater turned to warm setting as it was a bit hot and uncomfortable for her condition. Instantly adjusted. Good on them.

Came in for a few drink and really enjoyed the place. Bar staff were very nice and could make good espresso martinis They were so good in fact that I never actually made it to the restaurant for food. Cant wait ti go back and try the actual menu :)

Great service. Very friendly. And helpfull - we were looking for a special kind for mixed beverage - the barman delivered. Food was really good. A nice anniverary surprise by our lovely waitress as well.

Enjoyed our dinner but found the waitress rather dismissive. She seemed disinterested and didn't ask my husband how he wanted his steak cooked. We had to call her back to tell her. We enjoyed our mains but because we were made to feel rushed havent rated this higher.

Have been to lonestar many times but the most recent time was by far the best. I have the Dixie chicken and it came out within 15 mins of ordering it, the chicken was juicy and delicious and there was lots of sauce. I swapped coleslaw for the green salad and it was well dressed and full of cucumber, cherry and sun dried tomatoes. The young girl who served us was friendly and efficient, all in all the best experience we have had there

Ordered the Dixie chicken, was not as nice as I've had at other lone stars there wasn't much flavour to it so was disappointing. The staff are lovely though and the restaurant its self is well presented, but watch out for the chairs my little sister sat on one of the chairs and the leg was broken and she fell of backwards, she was ok but if my mum or nana had sat there it would have been a very different outcome. You want to get in early though beat the rush or it can be a very long wait.

Busy and noisy on a Saturday night. I had the strawberry jalapeno margarita which was fairly spicy, no strawberry flavour and frozen so it was impossible to pour from the jug. I'll stick to classic margarita next time. The fillet steak was perfect.

As per usual the Lone Star put on a good feed, plenty of food for everyone and no one leaves hungry. We were a little disappointed with the creme brulee, wasn't light like they should be and the caramel on top didnt crack it was soft. Otherwise no complaints.

The service was friendly and personalised well. So nice they also catered for my disorder around large crowds. A perfect night to catch up with family over a delicious and extremely filling meal.

We had a great time here on Sunday night to celebrate my friend's birthday. The spare ribs were amazing! I highly recommend this restaurant for a fun night out.

I went in not expecting much as a vegetarian who also is eco-conscious and likes to eat healthily as the menu was rather carb heavy, full of meat (that's fine, it was a birthday meal for someone else) and with only a few vegetarian options. I was going to opt for the lone meat-free salad but decided to treat myself to the vege burrito (mostly to absorb the espresso martini I impulsively ordered after seeing a waitress walking with one to a distant table - omg I LOVE espresso martinis). Ok so the bad: The burrito was OK, the flavours were nice and the wedges were fab, overall it was pretty heavy on the carbs and could have done with more sauce of some kind though to balance out the wedges, rice and burrito. The Good: Free range chicken across the menu, including the side eggs (not sure on all items that include eggs but it's a great start). Paper straws! Was absolutely delighted to see paper straws across the restaurant. Cardboard container for your leftovers! Wow, was chuffed to not see a plastic box. Excellent table service, the lady who served us was polite and professional. Overall would recommend, just need little more variety for the non meat-eaters (to make me want to come again without a birthday meal invite).

The thai green curry mussel starter was tasty. Chicken burrito was ok. Venue was very noisy and couldn't have a conversation over the music. Food came out at different times and the wait staff had a lot of trouble navigating the table and figuring out who had what meal. Good for familys

Food was very good, and acceptable price. Not so keen on the noise level though, bare walls and floors mean that everybody ends up shouting leading to a less than pleasant dinner experience

OMFG YOMMMMMMM. Loved the ribs but left with more sauce on my face then in my tummy, just wanted to devour them as quick as possible so i could tell my wife they didnt come and could order some more, honestly guys i couldnt get it in me quick enough. i got a coleslaw on the side, first mouthful i started drooling, did pull out a long black hair but that stuff happens, happily picked it out and continued eating. Have a little confession to make, feeling a tad guilty that i said it was birthday so i could get a free dessert when it wasn't... super yummy tho

Good food and usually plenty of it still a favorite, kid friendly and staff typically very friendly. Price has increased over the years (inflation etc I suppose) but a family meal out is now reserved for special occasions.
