I went here for my friend's birthday dinner and it was such a great experience! The food was well presented, full of flavour and had a range of food for different dietary requirements such as gluten free, vegetarian and vegan. It was also nice and warm due to the heaters being on yet to an appropriate level. The staff were also attentive and made sure our meals were up to standard while they were also really busy with other bookings. I would definitely recommend.

Best Italian food I have had in a very long time. They were very busy on a Sunday evening and the place was lively and vibrant. The guy working front of house was great, amazing service especially when being so busy. My pasta was huge, only managed to eat half so would do the entree size next time. Will definitely be back next time we are in Wellington.

Excellent little Italian restaurant..my wife and I celebrated our wedding anniversary here and it was a lovely evening. The chefs do the cooking in an open kitchen so you watch your meal being cooked. The food is 5 star , reasonably priced and tge service was great . Well worth a visit

3.75 stars. Excellent pasta but appetizer was undercooked (the kitchen did take them back and properly cook them, but seems to me roasting carrots should be pretty straightforward on the first try). Service wavered, especially when I went to pay. Server reviewed the bill with me (which I'm glad of, given what came next) and I noted I had been charged $10 for the carrots, rather than the $8 as marked on the menu. Server said, "We'll change the menu." I stared at her. "Okay," I said, and waited. "Oh, you don't want to pay $10?" she asked. "No. I absolutely do not want to pay $10!" "Oh okay." It was such an odd and unsettling exchange. I wonder how many dozens or more customers have been overcharged. The pasta was very good, as stated, but the overall feeling I had when I left was not pleasant and may prevent me from visiting the restaurant again. Possibly for takeaway only.

Excellent pear salad. Id eat that all day long. Great chicken penne. I switched penne for spaghetti. Want to try the meat balls when we go back. Chips where excellent. Won't get the dessert to take home next time will just have it there.

Big shout out to the Sunday night chef, the gnocchi sauce was gorgeous. Partners beef was very yummy too. Love the wine list, something to please everybody. Only negative is waiting for a wine to have with dinner, order was taken a bit late. And big thumbs up to fitting us in without a reservation.

Nice place. Great service. But for all the hype people told us, I guess I expected more. I got the rib eye steak with pepper sauce med rare. In the middle was more raw. The sauce I thought was a little to much and the potato gratin was like sliced potatoes with the Maggi potato bake sachet. Also got egg plant entree the presentation was amazing so expected mains to be same. My son meal the penne was awesome he loved and it tasted and looked great.y partner got the lasagne and for an Italian restaurant it looked like they had heated it up as well as the sauce as was burnt on edge of plate, as well didn't taste like it had been made that day. Overall was nice just not as spectacular as reviews.

One of our favourite restaurants in all of greater Wellington. Sopranos is an awesome casual dining spot with delicious food and friendly wait staff. We've simply never had a bad meal here. Try the calamari, chicken gnocchi and the crumble of the week - you won't be disappointed!

Very good dinner experience! We had the chicken gnocchi, risotto, and putanesca. Flavors were spot on and portions very generous. My daughter had the kids calamari meal and she was very happy. Wait staff were nice and attentive. I would say price was reasonable considering the size of portions. Will definitely be back. I can see this place as being one of our go-to restaurants when we are hungry for good Italian food!

Our first visit to Soprano's was not long after it first opened. The food and atmosphere was wonderful and we recommended it to everyone we could. Our latest visit, unfortunately, was not of the same calibre. The atmosphere and wait staff were great, but the cooking, or rather the seasoning, was not. The salt and pepper calamari were borderline over seasoned, but edible. The steak was perfectly cooked but the pepper sauce was straight up awful. It tasted like a bottle of pepper spray. We sent it back and had it redone with the butter sauce.Second time round it was too salty. They could really do with a second taster because whoever currently tastes it has a bomb proof palate. The chicken gnocchi was delicious.

Delicious authentic Italian cuisine (but don't come here if you're looking for pizza as it is not on the menu), generous portion sizes, reasonably priced, quirky friendly atmosphere and great customer service. Good variety on drinks menu too.

I really rate this place. Went for a BYO romantic dinner with my partner and we had the bruschetta as entree. Very good if a little small but i am greedy when it comes to bread. He had the chicken gnocchi and it was so creamy, rich and lustful i kept trying to nab it off his plate. I had the salmon spaghetti was a lighter option. Main portions are big , had enough for lunch the next day- woo! Tiramisu for dessert. Delicious. Waiter serving me was lovely and good looking if i remember correctly

Great food, but now only BYO on Sunday rule is not cool. Owners now working front of house and waiting tables isn't a great look leave it to the younger staff. Stay in the kitchen and work on better deserts. Don't try and fix what wasn't broken.

Had dinner here on Monday night which was the first time I had been there in a few years. It was absolutely amazing. Both my husband and our friend had the lamb shanks with mash, the mash was so buttery and delish I even stole some from their plates! I had the Lasagne which was perfectly cooked and smothered in sauce and cheese! The starters were also very good we all shared the Calamari and the Chicken Liver Pate ! Both were stunning, my only criticism was the portion of bread with the pate was so small we had to order more, it would make more sense to serve it with more to start with. The wait staff were very attentive and the atmosphere what I expected of a lovely little Italian restaurant.

Well... from an unassuming façade that opens into a warm and staff friendly dinning experience, following through to the serving of the entree or main and beyond to the curtain call of a departing dessert; the enticing depth of flavours and aromatic dance of fragrances provide a classically authentic, honest and humble reflection of the respective dishes that we enjoyed. The portion serving is sophisticatedly balanced between satisfying perfection of flavours, complimented by an appreciation of good wine. Went to Soprano's Petone last night for my partner's birthday. Pricing was perfect. Portions were exceptionally generous. The food was spot on, tasted delicious, came quickly, was plated and smelled awesome. The serving staff were attentive and friendly. All in all an outstanding meal at a very nice restaurant, my only criticism would be the crowded seating, but there's many very good reasons Soprano's Petone is crowded! I recommend if you don't have a huge appetite to avoid getting sides with a large main the food is great and bountiful. We will certainly be back regularly.

The next day is a scheduled marathon. I should have pasta. I did not have a reservation when I showed up at this restaurant. The place was fully booked. A table is available but the reservation is 45 minutes away. I promised that I can finish my dinner in 45 minutes if the chief is cooperative. It turned out that I finished in 30 minutes. Thank you for believing me. It turned out that this was the only good thing happened to me during my trip to Wellington. The 5 bridge marathon was canceled when I showed up the morning of the event. I lost my cellular phone and I was not able to find it back. At least, I had a good dinner there, at Lower Hutt, Wellington.
