Great place with great prices! Plenty of outdoor seating or indoor! Really great drinks, we had the frozen cocktails. Great tasting and decent portion sizes. Should definately look to book if coming in on a busy night (we went on a Saturday and it was quite full!) Only let down was one waitress we had who had no idea in terms of what she was serving and guessed what each plate was which was quite unprofessional and I have never seen before. Either than that it was great!

It was my first time in Mangawhai, hence my first time to eat here at Gringas. This was highly recommended by a local and was super glad we tried ‘em out. This is the best Mexican place I’ve eaten at in NZ, I daresay. We ordered the Quesadilla, TacoTaco + Pork tacos and they were all really good 🤩 Loved that you basically have everything you need on the table — utensils, tissue, tomatillo sauce, hot sauce, water… Service was also quick and friendly, staff was super welcoming, asking how we liked the food of if we needed anything else etc 💕 Because of the amazing experience, I wanted to eat here again the following day but unfortunately we were headed back to Auckland before their opening hours 😢 Highly recommended and will surely be back in case we find ourselves in Mangawhai again 👍😊

Lots of staff milling about on a Friday night but we were dining early. It looked like they were prepping for a big one. This is a great little restaurant. The image on their website is unfortunate insofar that it looks like a roadside stall. Its not. It's a restaurant and everyone knows what they're doing. Raw fish, nachos, burrito all flavorsome and different, not your run of the mill Mexican. The wait staff acted like a team too all looking out for us. This was a very pleasant experience

Gringas do Mexican cuisine well. It's an uncomplicated menu with all the usual; burritos, tacos, quesadilas, corn chips, guacamole. I had tacos, one prawn one pork. It was tasty, filling and reasonably priced. The atmosphere was pleasant, indoor and outdoor dining. I found the staff friendly and responsive when I wanted an extra beer.

I say, you can sure give it a whirl at Gringas in Mangawhai with their espresso martinis topped with cinnamon sugar n a churro, the meals w the k-pow hot sauce and a dessert of churros. . The hot shot Auckland bar manager made exceptional drinks, not to mention how amazing the food was. Gringas has become my local go to and I would highly recommend to any one else wanting to try some good quality, authentic Mexican food! Such a popular and busy place, seems the staff are always working extra hard to ensure the best quality is provided to their customers. A++ Highly recommended when visiting the magical Mangawhai !! Ps. Ask for the namesake Margarita (Tommys Margarita)

Great cocktails. Having spent a lot of time in Mexico I found the food did not have a lot of flavour. It was kinda bland. It doesn't need to be chilli hot, and it doesn't take much to give it some flavour, so here's hoping. Not a big downer, just ho hum. Do go for the cocktails tho. They are worth the visit.

Food is great and the girls running the truck were super nice. Unique burritos as they include fries inside some of them. Not an authentic mexican taste, but delicious nonetheless, especially considering how difficult it is to find good mexican cuisine in New Zealand. The steak burrito was better than the pork, as the pork was just a tad too dry. The pricing is on the higher end, but you gotta have a nice treat every now and then. One burrito ($17) is enough to fill you up as well. Great food truck atmosphere with music. Overall, a wonderful food experience.

My wife booked gj a table for us and my infant daughter. We decided to give this place a go as we had seen the reviews online. When we arrived, the staff were really friendly and were very accomodating to the fact we had a child in a push chair and decided to seat us in the most wheelchair friendly spot ( we didn't expect them to go out of their way to do this). The staff were really efficient and got us started with drinks. I ordered the regular frozen margharita (it was refreshing) and my wife just got a coke. For food I ordered the corn ribs to start then the prawn/vege tacos for main. My wife decided to just have the churros. Food came out super fast which was great. Only thing I would say is the entree and mains pretty much came out at the same time. Possibly watch the timing to allow people to enjoy the entrees without being bombarded with the mains too quickly. Not a big issue just something we noticed. Food was DELICIOUS! Corn ribs were seasoned and cooked well. Luckily there were 6 as I could have eaten 50. The tacos were really fresh. Prawns cooked very well. Generious anount of salad. I dobbed a bit of salsa verde (I am assuming made in house ) which tied it all together. The churros were fresh. The cinnamon ice cream was to die for. We couldn’t have been more impressed. Portions very generous. The service was good. The casual atmosphere was very inviting. Staff were friendly. If in Mangawhai, we couldn’t recommend this place more. Price wasn’t too bad considering the quality of the food and service.

This food is the best I’ve eaten in New Zealand. So fresh. Love the NZ inspired twist. Usually don’t like Mexican as they add so much yuck stuff but Gringas keeps it simple, while still having so much flavour. Price is so worth it. The food is so filling. I don’t know anywhere you can get a main this delicious and filling for $19. Girls in the truck work so hard and it shows. Highly recommend! Wish this was in Auckland!

This has to be the absolute best Mexican in all of NZ and it’s woman owned. I grew up on the west coast of the US and have desperately missed my tacos and burritos. I’ve tried many places around NZ, but they’ve all been so awful. Gringas has fresh and authentic flavors, and not to mention hearty options for pescatarians and vegetarians. Take all my money. Those tacos could have been $20/pop and still worth it.

Yeah... Fine. Not very mexican in flavour. We had the chicken tacos, fish tacos, chicken quesadilla and churros for $49. Plenty for 2 people. Chicken quesadilla and fish tacos were too plain. The chicken taco had a bit of flavour and the churros were all good. Expensive for what it is.

If I could give this six stars I would. The best day of the week is Thursday when the Gringas girls open! Their food is so fresh, amazing quality, and clearly made with love. When I'm feeling healthy - their salads are the BEST - and with so much in there it's a struggle to get through a whole one (and I LOVE my food). Otherwise - the pork tacos are AMAZING, that little hit of sweetness from the pineapple balances out the amazing pork flavours. I've taken friends from the US here, taco aficionados to be sure and they loved it too. So - if you're on the fence, get down there - just don't take my taco!!!

"If they don't serve Steak and Eggs then I won't eat" has been my mandate when buying take-out since forever. Even my kids said I need to live a little when it comes to satisfying my ( void of anything spicey or hot ), boring and scripted palate. So last Thursday on the advice of a trusted friend and not wanting to go home and cook after a long day at work I took a dive into the deep end and ordered Guackamole with Chips a Chicken Burrito for my wife and a Pulled Pork Burrito for myself. Short version review: 1) Awesome Ladies and service to start with 2) Ate the Guack and Chips like a man possessed 3) Wife adored the Chicken Burrito 4) Speechless after eating my Pork Burrito-absolutely the best "Meal" I have ever had in such a compact package and I say meal because it was so dam filling I never ate a thing on Friday. Not a bad experience for a bloke dining outside his culinary comfort zone. 100% rating Ladies - Cheers Mr Converted.
