T.Friendly service, meals came out fast and to top it off, I had the best squid ever! A wonderful restaurant located in an amazing part of New Zealand. A visit won't disappoint you, especially on a beautiful hot sunny day.

A.The food was tasty, although we ordered the lunch platter for two, and were very underwhelmed by its size. It would have been more appropriate a meal for one adult.
The service was good, and when we arrived they did advise of longer wait times due to being very busy (which they were).

P.We enjoyed a delicious meal here on Friday. The crispy squid was a perfect way to wake our taste buds, ready for the beef eye fillet and pork fillet, which were prepared perfectly, with just the right accompaniments. Unusually, we were tempted by the dessert menu and didn't regret it - the panna cotta and eton mess were delicious and beautifully presented. Plenty of variety on the drinks list allowed everyone to find what they wanted, including some great local wines and beers. Thank you for a lovely meal.

R.I was a part of a large group having an end of year function, so we only had access to a small subset of the total menu. I had the chorizo croquettes, a medium-rare ribeye steak, and the brownie for desert. The food was simply amazing. The croquettes were delicious, and the steak was the best I've had for a long time - everything on that plate was just absolutely perfect. I also had a few bites of the banoffee pie, and it was outrageously good. Thanks for a great meal!

P.The Jellyfish has always been our go-to restaurant and it never disappoints. On 9th Oct we had the most beautiful meal starting outside with a very generous JF board. The rain arrived so our waiting staff quickly found us a table inside where we could continue to watch the ebb & flow of the estuary, with the log burner close by!
My mains choice was the fabulous and very tender pork belly, the crispy bit was over & above - cannot recommend more highly. Bill had the seafood chowder which was creamy and overflowing with fresh seafood. The staff were just lovely and, to top it all, our waitresses came out with a lovely, personalised dessert for me as a birthday surprise!
The hospitality sector overall is experiencing difficult times as a result of covid, with it's impact on staffing, supply delays in some cases, and financial stress in many cases. It's always been my ethos that if you're out for a meal, allow time, take a breather, inhale the views and treat waiting staff with respect. No better place to do it than at the JF.

The metal chairs however were extremely uncomfortable - they dug into my legs and the chair cushion had a mind of its own 😂 I will try to get one of the bench seats next time.

L.As I'm Gluten intolerant I was disappointed with the outcome of my meal!! Delay in informing me of choice I made that it was unavailable! My group were almost finished their meals when mine finally got sorted! I had three visits from different staff informing me of available meal options! Won't go again! Very disappointed!!

A.Wonderful view, amazing food and fabulous service. Our first visit here for lunch, the snapper and gnocchi was excellent and exceptional value for money. The sharing dessert platter was equally as good. We eat out a lot and this is certainly among the best in the Nelson Tasman area. Especially good customer service from the American guy, very welcoming and friendly.

g.Absolutely outstanding food. We walked in the restuarant for lunch on a Tuesday in May and it was no problem to work out why it was full. Simply because the food is so good ! The seafood chowder was just superb. A taste sensation and the crumbled Fresh Snapper just superb. 25% of the staff are international workers, and it is a crying shame that because Jacinda will not renew their visas, the restuarant may have to close two day's a week as she just cannot employ more international staff. Do not go through Mapua without visiting this restaurant
A.A special sunny place right by the Mapua Wharf. Excellent coffee and muffins, food. The staff is always pleasant and service is very good.
B.Had lunch here and the service and food was so amazing I just had to come back and try their dinner service. Fine dining food with a family cozy environment and nothing but the top qaulity service it feel likes the silver service. The food is what you'd expect in a fine dining restaurant with locally sourced goods. Seafood is to die for, even if you're not a fan its worth a try.
J.Our first choice for drinks and nibbles on Fridays. So much so we reserve a table each week! What can you say about Debbie and the team that hasn't already been said? Its always good. We had a girls Saturday night last weekend for 9 ladies and it was great at the 'Jelly' as usual. A friend and I shared the lamb which is divine. Desserts are awesome😍

j.Not impressed my wife ordered GF meal. They left it till all our other meals were served then told her they could not do. Re ordered another. And had to eat by her self. May not go again. Not good. Waitress was very polite!!

M.I visited Jellyfish Restaurant & Bar on 30/12/2020 with a friend and it was a beautiful warm day. All restaurants were packed with customers and some other restaurants told us that we had to wait for a while to be served.
At Jellyfish, even though it was also packed, the waitress was extremely helpful and sorted out a table for us very quickly.
She even adjusted the blinds to give my friend a bit more sun since the table we were sitting at was a bit windy and cool.
The food was delivered very quickly and it was delicious.
In overall we had a great time, great food and excellent customer services.
I will definitely recommend Jellyfish to a visitor to Mapua.

G.A nice setting and friendly staff. Had 2 meals - the beef burger was nice but my wife had the snapper and this was unfortunately not so good. It came with some type of black barley base which was under cooked and quite rubbery. The fish itself was a bit underwhelming in taste and texture as well. One of our friends also had the snapper and she was also disappointed. The desert was a combo platter of 4 small desserts and was delicious.

S.My husband and I shared the platter and it was the most delicious selection we have experienced. Went exceedingly well with a delicious Chardonnay Kahurangi Reserve. We indulged our palates by following with the dessert tasting plate. Everything delicious but must make mention of the berry brûlée and the lemon meringue pie 😋. The staff in this place were also first rate. Well done Jellyfish. We’ve got more days in this area and it wouldn’t surprise me if we come back!!

She on-communicated this to our chef Alex and he translated that into a deliciously satisfying meal. Totally reccomend and will return.

A.This place deserves so much recognition for their beautiful food, staff and location. The set up of the restaurant is every kiwi's dream. Sitting on the deck, with sun shining, looking out to see boats, a little bay and rabbit Island in the distance. The food is unreal. The fresh ingredients and quality finish had us wanting more that we visited again for the same meal. The French brioche for breakfast is a winner and the staff are so welcoming and friendly! 10/10 overall experience.

The fish of the day was salmon and came with ratatouille. That was next level. Very beautiful and juicy. The cheese board was absolutely beautiful. Lovely waitress that took a photo of us and later on when it got a bit chilly brought my mum a blankie. Definitely will be back when I'm in town again.
l.lovely sunny corner spot with great views out to sea and Rabbit island. excellent service , best Ceasar salad we've had in a long time and excellent bread board with Dukkah , herb butter and oil. Will be back.

K.Wow it was really busy, even though they were pretty much booked out, they managed to find a spot for the four if us. The service was efficient and friendly and the food I had anyway, the duck was really nice. The only reason I have given it 3 stars is because it was really loud, it was hard to talk to there person next to me. I would go back, maybe at a quieter time
Ç.The Jelly Fish Cafe has the potential to be a truly fantastic cafe. The outdoor seating is situated in the perfect place to capture the essence of being by the sea. Credit where credit is due, the Jelly fish cafe staff are very hospitable and make you feel very welcome, however I was NOT impressed with the quality of coffee. The coffee was spilt over my saucer and tasted like fluffed up milk. I could almost have mistaken it for a cup of warm milk.
Overall the Jelly fish Cafe was an enjoyable experience, I loved how the cafe perfectly encapsulated the 'sea side vibe'. I would return, but would expect a much better standard of coffee next time.

A.Friday evening having drinks with friends then dinner. Try the whole lamb shoulder for 2 to share it is divine and you won't need too much else as it's a lot of food . Staff are warm and welcoming as always. Back on Saturday for brunch but we just missed the 11.15am deadline b4 lunch. Wish it was a bit later but the salmon entree was just the job

N.A great location to people watch on a summer's day. The food is tasty and it has always arrived at the table quite quickly. It gets very busy at peak holiday times. so making a reservation is a very good idea.

Great staff, even in the busy months, they are friendly, welcoming and fun. Beautify outlook over the estuary and water. S.In December 2014 we enjoyed a meal at the Jellyfish restaurant before leaving NZ for Australia.
The restaurant is in a pleasant location on the wharf in Mapua and the ambiance of the building is quite simple, a little rustic, but very pleasant. I ordered an eye fillet steak, cooked rare. The steak was served in good time and came with a flaked smoked potato dish.
I am pleased to say that the steak, perfectly cooked to order, was tender, juicy and succulent. It was perfectly complimented by the smoked potato dish and some good NZ red wine.
Having travelled widely to all the worlds continents where steak is considered of some national pride, (Australia, the States, even France) I can, without reservation, say that the Jellyfish served the finest steak I have ever eaten. It was exceptionally good. Well done.
B.Nice setting and all that but not impressed with the small size of the meals. I ordered the "market fish" (John Dory) as a main and was served a piece of fish on a small nest of vegies. Cost: $26.50. Thought the price was a bit steep for what was essentially a starter.

D.Not only does this place serve great coffee and have excellent breakfast choices, the location is perfect. Located on the wharf, in an industrial turned chique social place it has fantastic views whilst remaining peaceful. The servers were great and prices reasonable. Definitely worth a visit or the detour along the sceanic route!
V.Whatever restaurant has been in this place has always offered fantastic views. Today I didn't have any food other than a platter, because lunch was finished and dinner hadn't started yet. However it was good and the service was very friendly and helpful. Try a glass of chardonnay from mapua winery!

D.This is a great cafe restaraunt. The food and the service is top notch. The outdoor patio overlooks the beautiful mapua wharf. There is a piano outside that is free to use for anyone and offer talented stangers take turns having a go.

J.Morning coffee + poached eggs on toast? Midday brunch? Evening dining, casual or fancy, or just for dessert? I love the Jellyfish cafe at any time of day. The food is great, the service excellent, as it should be for every decent restaurant ...but there is nothing that even closely rivals the ambience of the Jellyfish with it's pristine position on the Mapua wharf. It's morning, you've been for a walk around Mapua or a cycle ride up in the Moutere hills, and what you really want is a relaxed coffee, maybe some breakfast, on the Jellyfish verandah, talking with friends or simply reading your book/newspaper/tablet alone ...with fresh sea air, morning sunshine, the sounds of the sea. This is IT. The ebb and flow of the tides in the estuary, moored boats - working class and designer yachts alike - holding their own against the tides, Rabbit island in the background, blue blue skies against green green trees. Sights, sounds, smells, touch...every sense touched lightly by the surrounding natural beauty. A wine in the evening, the social buzz of the Mapua wharf all around you. Perfect!
