S.The Villa Walton! Where to begin! Neil and Sue, wow! The accommodation is breathtaking, the gardens are beautiful but it actually comes down to you two (Ted and Jimmy top of course). You guys make this place absolutely incredible, the details, the food, the thoughtfulness, just everything. It’s perfect!
Tara and I had such a special and beautiful stay, getting wedding ready and being able to share that with family and friends. We ALL loved The Villa Walton. We truly couldn’t imagine being anywhere else! If you are looking for a place to stay and unwind, get wedding ready, or just indulge.. look no further The Villa Walton is the dream!

S.On the first day, landlord showed us the whole house and recommended us an Italian restaurant called Osteria in Matamata. Although the house was built in 1904, the interior decoration was very delicate. Each room has ensuite. They are perfectly clean. The internal sound insulation is very good and quiet. In general it is like a five-star hotel. The breakfast is really delicate and all homemade. I highly recommend Villa Walton👍👍👍
S.From the moment we arrived at Villa Walton we felt at home. The hosts gave us such a warm and friendly welcome, they really go out of their way to make your stay feel special. They cooked us a really delicious, healthy and fresh meal for dinner. The house itself is beautifully decorated and luxurious. It was lovely to wake up to birds singing and the beautiful views of the countryside. The breakfast was also 5 star. We didn't want to leave! Would highly recommend this lovely place to anyone, it's incredible!
T.Haven't had the full experience ourselves yet as we only visited. But it was lovely to have met the owners and were given a lovely tour and history of the place all the same. It's beautiful what this couple have achieved in such a short time and I look forward to recommending it all the same. The B&B is a 1904 charming villa with all the modern accents, every bedroom has its own ensuite and there's a cottage too. This particular occasion it became a small intimate wedding venue indoor/outdoor options. The immaculate grounds making perfect backdrops for photos.
C.Villa Walton is a beautiful property with very friendly and welcoming hosts. They recommended great restaurants in the area and even helped us make dinner reservations while we got settled. The breakfasts were fresh and delicious, straight from their own garden. The rooms were spacious enough for two people and three suitcases, the bathroom was modern, and the shower had amazing pressure and temperature.
S.Outstanding Victorian house! We have been welcomed by the most caring host. The room was perfect, clean, warm, cosy and stylish. We also had an amazing dinner, the lamb was exquisite and the fish excellent. The wine lived up to the expectations, so did the breakfast... Wished we had spent more time there!
B.Unbelievable, we stayed 1 night at this Villa and were so impressed with the way we were welcomed and the very time we entered the property to the time we left. The breakfast was amazing, fresh vegetables from there own farm with fresh eggs. The rooms were 6 star, very comfortable beds, the carpet soft and tge bathroom was just so clean the we had no issues at all but just praise the owners.

Villa Walton is a restored upmarket Villa in a beautiful leafy setting surrounded by working Dairy Farms. The views are lovely and the rooms and beds really are comfy with lovely large modern ensuites.
The food genuinely was amazing especially the delicious home cooked muffins!
Thanks Diane for making our stay so special. I can highly recommend Villa Walton to anyone wanting a superb New Zealand experience.
E.Our stay was beyond wonderful. The hosts Glenn & Mark are funny, kind and charming people that will do everything in their power to make your stay as pleasant as possible and will ultimately make you feel like you are staying at a friends house.
The hotel itself is super clean, romantic and is the most picture-perfect B&B that you could ever imagine. Not only does every room look like it's straight out of a home living magazine, but there are actually too many thoughtful little details to count, like e.g.: homebaked cookies, wonderful bath products, an honesty bar where you can get drinks whenever you like, a heating blanket in the bed so you're always snug and warm in the winter, wonderfully soft bath robes, etc.
The two also took an amazing amount of time to get us familiar with all the sights and attractions in and around Matamata, making not only our stay in the hotel itself but also on the North Island in general more than special. The breakfast is delicious with home-made jam, super coffee and eggs from their very own chickens. Luckily, we also had dinner at the hotel which was amazing not only because of Glenn's fantastic cooking skills, but also because of the amazing regional wine we were served and the roaring fire place making it not only delicious but also very romantic.
One last thing that is worth mentioning is how well my gluten intolerance was handled. Anyone suffering from a food allergy of any kind will know that traveling can be very frustrating at times. However, Glenn and Mark went to great lengths to accommodate my allergy by getting me gluten-free cookies, gluten-free bread for breakfast and dinner and serving me a gluten-free dinner option. So, anyone suffering from a food allergy will be in very understanding hands.
In summary, anyone coming to the area absolutely has to stay at Villa Walton! Although we're hoping that the hotel will not be booked solid for the next couple of years, seeing as we want to return as soon as possible. Thank you Mark & Glenn for our wonderful stay!
Z.This place is a DREAM. The photos don't do it justice and the hosts (had the pleasure of being catered to by Glenn) are a joy. I wish I could have them decorate my own home. Had I stayed any longer than the two nights I did, I feel like the beauty of the area would have inspired me to write a novel.
I stayed there to be close to my wedding location, Hobbiton, and I did not want to leave!
Next time I'm in NZ, I will skip the city and just go directly to Matamata and Villa Walton.
A few notes:
-You have never had good yogurt until you have had homemade yogurt
-If you're not a cat person, you will be after meeting the most darling cat in the world, Willis.
-You will question your home decor after seeing the interior. Beautiful.
-You may consider moving to the country side after staying here.
E.From the minute we arrived at the Villa for our 22nd Wedding Anniversary we knew this this night away was going to be special. The immaculate 1904 Villa has been restored by hosts Mark & Glenn who go out of their way to make the guests feel special with many thoughtful touches and special treats.
We were in awe of their styling & attention to detail.
The breakfast was spot on also!

We stayed for a night on the way to Rotorua and were blown away by the exceptional food, the comfortable and beautifully appointed rooms, the garden, and the hosts, who are absolutely delightful. S.We stayed here for only 1 night earlier this year, but I wish we had stayed longer!! The building and grounds are beautiful, the bed was comfy and everything was new and sparkling clean, breakfast was delicious, the hosts are SO kind and thoughtful and have thought of so many welcoming touches. I wish we could have stayed longer just to curl up with a book and enjoy the space!

Das Abendessen und Frühstück war sehr hervorragend. Viele Speise selbst hergestellt, wie Marmelade, Eis usw. Salate frisch aus dem eigenen Garten.
Wir wurden herzlich empfangen und bekamen Empfehlungen für den nächsten Tag.
Jederzeit würden wir gern wiederkommen.

Unser Aufenthalt war wunderbar. Die Gastgeber Glenn & Mark sind witzige, freundliche und charmante Leute, die alles in ihrer Macht Stehende tun, um Ihren Aufenthalt so angenehm wie möglich zu gestalten und Ihnen letztendlich das Gefühl geben, in einem Haus von Freunden zu wohnen.
Das Hotel selbst ist sehr sauber, romantisch und ist das beste B & B, das man sich vorstellen kann. Nicht nur, dass jedes Zimmer so aussieht, als wäre es direkt aus einem Home Living-Magazin, aber es gibt tatsächlich zu viele nachdenkliche kleine Details, zum Beispiel: hausgebackene Kekse, wunderbare Badprodukte, eine Ehrlichkeitsbar, in der Sie zu jeder Zeit Getränke bekommen können. eine Heizdecke im Bett, so dass Sie im Winter immer kuschelig warm sind, wunderbar weiche Bademäntel usw.
Die beiden haben sich auch erstaunlich viel Zeit genommen, um uns mit allen Sehenswürdigkeiten und Attraktionen in und um Matamata vertraut zu machen. Als letztes erwähnenswert ist, wie gut meine Gluten-Intoleranz behandelt wurde. Jeder, der an einer Nahrungsmittelallergie leidet, weiß, dass Reisen manchmal sehr frustrierend sein kann. Glenn und Mark haben sich jedoch sehr bemüht, meiner Allergie zu begegnen, indem sie mir glutenfreie Kekse, glutenfreies Brot zum Frühstück und Abendessen besorgten und mir ein glutenfreies Abendessen servierten. Jeder, der an einer Nahrungsmittelallergie leidet, wird in sehr verständnisvollen Händen sein.
Zusammenfassend muss jeder, der in die Gegend kommt, unbedingt in der Villa Walton bleiben! Wir hoffen zwar, dass das Hotel in den nächsten Jahren nicht gut ausgebucht sein wird, da wir so schnell wie möglich zurückkehren wollen. Vielen Dank Mark & Glenn für unseren wundervollen Aufenthalt!
