The staff were really nice and the food tasted great! Had the steak and it was perfectly cooked with just the right amount of mint. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal.

Took a chance despite other reviews. Had the pepperoni pizza. Arrived quick, hot and delicious!! Staff were pleasant, and overall it was a good experience! Would come again!

Stunning meal. I had the salt & pepper said and my husband had the ribs. Thoroughly enjoyed them. Will be back next time we return. And we will be back

Lovely log burner fire on a cold winter night. Meal was Beautiful lovely seafood chowder and the pizza one of the best. Service great too as was the Beer and Cider

Would have marked this 4 or even 5 except for the miserly portions of takeaway chips, which seem to get worse each time we go there. Staff are friendly, nice atmosphere.

We were sat inside which was a bit tavern-ish for my liking. I think the outside tables looked much nicer. The medium-rare steak we ordered was surprisingly cooked exactly as we ordered and was quite tasty aside from a lot of gristly bits. The veges accompanying the steak were quite underdone which was alright for the zucchini and asparagus but not very pleasant for the beans and carrots as they were too crunchy to eat with a mouthful of steak. The real letdown on the steak meal was the “potato rosti” which was one of those frozen oven baked things from a packet. I would highly recommend changing it to mash or even chips as it has no flavour and tastes like sawdust. My partner got the the pork ribs which were tasty and came with wedges and coleslaw which were both alright but not impressive. We were very impressed with the local ciders on offer - left branch cider I think it was called. Highly recommend those as they are packed with natural flavour. I would go back but try to sit outside :)

Pizza, chips and drinks. Nothing fancy with the food but cooked well and flavoured. Reasonably priced, we went early and received our meal quickly. Relaxed atmosphere.

Last night we were a party of 10 which in itself can be challenging for restaurants. We arrived on time and were promptly seated. We ordered our drinks and meals. Amongst the 10 of us there were 6 different mains ordered. The meals all arrived within 25 minutes and without exception all were excellent. A throughly enjoyable experience and a well deserved 5 stars. Would highly recommend to all. Judy and Rod Liddy

Came back again this year because last year we had the best steak ever at Beached Whale. We were looking forward to come back this year and again steak was amazing. Also service was superb. We were going to order another steak main for our son, one of bar staff was super helpful - suggested a smaller steak for him and priced it accordingly. We all loved it and will come back next year. We looking forward to it :-) Thank you beached whale, the staff and awesome steak chef.

Great spot. Is very pubby so dont go there if you are expecting authentic wood fired pizza from a hippy. They smash out tasty pizzas and pretty good fish and chips for the masses when Kaiteri is heaving. Would recommend when you're thirsty and sunburnt and need a beer. Dont have to dress up - they don't judge. All these other reviewers must have been stuck up tourists... Enjoy the vibe.....and drink up.

Low quality ingredients on pizza, where is a good base sauce? Ham that is real or chorizo for that matter? One measly chorizo per slice does not a pepperoni make? Please chef be real. Would expect better, won't be taking our visitors here sorry as really thought it would be a better experience Don't order garlic bread, not fresh garlic or bothered to add any herbs. From a pizza enthusiast.

Had to stand at the bar for a bit for someone to serve us but once they did they were very polite and officiant. Our takeout was ready by the time we had finished our wine. Nice food

Just had green lipped mussels with Thai green curry was absolutely superb. My husband had meatlovers pizza and was very happy. Service was good. We will be back again.

The beached whale is awesome. It's a great place to grab bite to eat when you are in kaiterteri. It's right next to the kaiterteri lodge which is a great backpackers. The have awesome pizza and great prices on beer. Highly recommend spot. Check it out for sure. You won't regret it
