Right near the forefront of Mount Maunganui, not far from the hot pools. A great place to relax and have a quiet dinner. Extremely friendly and helpful staff. We had fast and efficient service. The food is excellent and a large selection of dishes. I enjoyed a surloin steak with BBQ sauce, my wife had a fish burger. Delicious. Highly recommended.

Potential for a 5 and definitely not to be over looked. Stunning spot. Staff are lovely, accommodating etc. Food is really good couple of extra minutes of cooking for the fries and maybe aioli. $9 for a handful and no aioli or scummy sauce and under seasoned probably the biggest reason for 4 stars. If 4.5 was an option that be it. Will be back tho to look for that extra star

Was a great night out with friends. Service was a little slow but it was really a busy night. Only one diner had an issue with one part of their meal being a little over cooked but the rest was fantastic. I'll be definitely going back again.

Food and atmosphere was perfect as usual! The food is absolutely the best of the best! Dessert was nice, but PLEASE bring back the Candied Pecan Fudge Sundae. Was the only dessert we ever ordered!! I chose Dixie Browns to celebrate my Birthday. The restaurant is situated on the Marine Parade of Mt Maunganui, Tauranga, New Zealand, across the road from the main beach and a few meters away from the base of the Mount. This location and setting makes for a wonderful night out. As you walk in you are greeted by a cabinet of wonderful desserts tiered on a rotating stand. The greeting at the entrance was pleasant yet at the same time professional. My choice was the lamb Shank, which is my favourite at DB and my wife chose the half portion BBQ ribs while my son ventured for the full portion BBQ ribs. Dessert consisted of a Creme Caramel for me, the Lemon Meringue Pie for my wife and the Croissant Bread and Butter Pudding for my son. Everything was cooked to perfection, well presented, reasonably priced and with a first class service to boot. A walk along the promenade after the meal was a perfect end to an absolutely amazing meal.

Excellent service even when busy. lovely meals with generous proportions. I had the prawn cocktail as an entrée and the T-bone steak which was cooked to perfection. The prawn cocktail was almost a meal itself. defiantly going back here to try the ribs.

Absolutely loved my experience here! Stunning view and a great atmosphere, both inside and out! Friendly staff on hand to help, and the food is excellent! I f you are visiting the Mount and don't get one of their Belgian Waffles, you are definitely missing out! Portioned big enough to share. Friends from the mount took me here for breaky saturday morning of ANZAC weekend. Place was busy but they had a table for 5. Staff seemed friendly but appeared to be struggling with how busy they were. We after a while of being there had to ask for water. Our orders were taken but it did take forever for the meals and coffee to arrive. I had the corn cake breakfast stack which was 2 corn cakes. Not sure if that justifies a stack but the meal was delicious and I did enjoy the meal. If your not in a hurry then I wud recommend this place for breaky brunch.

Very busy and have been before and had a good breakfast experience so decided to come back today for another and were very let down - food was average at best and not value for money - dirty cutlery on our table so had to swap it out ourselves. Sadly won't be coming back again

Food - ordered fresh scone with homemade jam and cream as advertised outside. Came as two(!) plain scones which were light and fluffy, delicious jam, cream and a packet of butter. 2 things here - one, would have been much nicer if butter had been in a dish like the jam and cream (for aesthetics and the environment) and two, the proportion of jam to scone was insufficient. But asked for more jam and was not a problem. Service - Was busy due to it being a rainy Sunday, everyone seemed to want to get out of the rain. A table was cleared for me and I was seated very promptly. Scone took slightly longer than I anticipated but arrived warm hence the wait. Aesthetic - Nothing to write home about, not a fan of the layout, the half wall between the bar/till area is not needed and would open the space up much more if it wasn’t there. Laminated sheets of paper on the wall which look slightly tacky and random shells on the walls which add nothing. Spinning cake display takes up too much room where a small table could be - also not needed. Booths are nice enough. Lovely plates. Some small changes and it could be better.

I love the food here, it's always to a high standard. They lost a star due to the staff no being competent. We ordered drinks and then another member of staff came by to ask if we wanted to order drinks, the same happened with meals too. It appears there is a lack of staff communication which is a pity. I can't fault the food on the other hand.

There was no pear in the Halloumi and Pear salad and appeared to be replaced with carrot? It was a decent portion size, the grilled halloumi was well cooked and the quinoa has a tasty sauce. Cajun chicken had a medium spice which was well balanced with the creamy sauce

Not a great review from me today. Our shared chicken wings was sent back as it was presented to us cold inside. Replacement was great 👍. My husband had Steak and Ribs. That was really nice and well presented. I had calamari served with Dixie rice and green salad. The calamari was soggy and salty and rice was just not nice at all. The salad was great. Very sad to offer this report as we have eaten there many times and really enjoyed our meals. Not upto their usual standard, was disappointing unfortunately. 😕

Located in the busiest part of the Mount, seems to be a bustling place so make sure to book a table if you have a big group. Outdoor and in door seating. Food looked great but only tried a thick shake.. which was one of the best thick shakes I had! Great staff, very friendly and accommodating, the provided a baby seat and fixed it to the table. I would say some seating is a bit crammed but easily forgiven. Parking will be hard to find at peak times of the year.

We go here every week. The coffee is good but the service could really use a tweak. Greeting staff are disinterested and don’t listen. Two coffees take 15 minutes to arrive. There is usually much confusion when we go to pay. They ask us what table we were at; but no one tells you that. We have learned to ask but we shouldn’t have to. There seem to be different staff each time we go and we wonder what that says about wages or management. We do like that they offer a loyalty system. I and L Manson

Great ambience inside Dixie's on a rainy day. Had the best salad ever, Cajun Chicken and bacon. My friend had a haloumi salad, and raved that hers was surely better than mine. Service was above excellent. I highly recommend Dixie Brown's.

The establishment was only 1/3 occupied at 9.30am. As a group of 4 adults and 1 infant we had meals come out before all our hot drinks which ended up being over an hour and that's only because we had to approach the barrister to check up how much longer it would take. The hot drinks were luke warm and the earl Grey tea came with no milk until asked for. The food wasn't great but not bad either, satisfied hungers. Overall a disappointing experience which I would put down to the barrister and wait staff not the chef.

Great breakfast. Lovely aspect on the beach for early morning sun. A little disappointed by the streaky bacon. Why people don't serve proper bacon instead of these little fatty salty portions I can't imagine. Everything else was fantastic including service.

This place is good only because the food is amazing but staff needs a little more training. To start with, staff were not welcoming and 2 staff didn't acknowledge that we were waiting for someone to offer the table. One Indian lady came later and asked us to leave the number so she can call us when the table is available (really), common there was one table empty right there 😳 anyway we got the table at the end. Service was slow, coffee took ages to come but understandable they were busy. Food took 35 minutes to come out when came out was cold , however restaurant manager was nice to replace and brought hot 🔥 food. Understand its a busy restaurant but little smile on your staff faces would be nice 👌

We always eat here when visiting Taupo. The food is soo good. Never disappointed in any meal. It's a very popular place so you may have to wait for a table or it takes a little longer for your meal which they advise you (definitely worth the wait). The customer service is good most times. Except with one lady when we wanted to change to the table right next to us as it was chilly where we were, we were told something along the lines of no but I'll have to ask and it was said with attitude! (We only sat at our table for a couple of minutes) Then the lady put a reserve sign on it and walked inside. The customers around us just said to move it. But she had just cleaned the table then said we could sit there. Other than that one situation we love dixie browns.

Fantastic. We love going there, it's a 40 minute drive for us but worth it every time. Generous, well priced, really good quality food. Their burgers on brioche buns are delish, as are their hand cut chips. They are right opposite the beach and it is always bustling.

The only thing, we were really hungry and they forgot one Pizza, so two of us were waiting. But besides that, it was great and we will be definitely back!

Great service and the food is ok. However, this place offers the illusion that it offers good mobility access, but if you are in a wheelchair or use a walker, once you get up the ramp, the only tables you can get are two tables right by the ramp, both are outside seatings. This is because a very long table blocks the end of the entrance to the inside of the restaurant so there's only wiggle room left if the restaurant is full, even for an able bodied person. If you are lucky to get one of the tables by the ramp and hurray it's summer, but you'd like to go to the bathroom at the end of the meal - then you might be better off holding as the toilet is in the very inside part of the restaurant, and the other side is also blocked by an extra table, and the only last option left to enter the place is through some stairs - not an option if you have access troubles. The restaurant is still better than the other places at the water front in many other ways. However, it's also very intriguing which option is better : to offer no access or access-ish?

Fantastic restaurant to take the family in really beautiful surroundings, awesome menu with some great breakfast options, I think Dixie's has one of the best kids menus too absolutely loads to choose from including coffees and cakes. The staff are very friendly and helpful, I recommend a visit for breakfast, lunch, dinner or even a coffee stop if your are at The Mount.

Mine and my husband's favorite place to dine in Tauranga / Mount area! The servings are SO generous, and always cooked to perfection. Lovely views and can dine either inside or outside. Staff are always friendly. Great for couples, groups or even dining alone. Can can even order takeaway if not wishing to dine-in. Prices are very reasonable .

I come to the Taupo branch alot and I love Dixie Browns. It's a great restaurant. I'm rating it 4 star because the meal was slightly, well lack luster. I order the lemon lime chicken, and for 31.90 I expected more. More finesse, just better really. It felt basic, and the chicken wasn't succulent it was just meh. Also for 31.90 throw in quacamole!! Just could have been better. I will come back in year and see how it's going.

I was really looking forward to taking my family out for my sons 21st, we could have gone anywhere but he chose Dixie Browns....what a disappointment. Very average service, felt like we were an annoyance rather than being welcomed.....food was ok...one meal which happened to be my sons was inedible, we weren’t charged thank goodness. Table of 8 of us. We all thoroughly enjoyed our meals. The only gripe I have is that 2 of us shared a lemon meringue dessert because we'd had substantial mains and the dessert portion was laughable. In fact I did laugh when I received my half. Maybe Dixies cut it down because of the audacity of asking them to split it onto 2 plates? The thing is, I'd earlier seen a diner on a neighbouring table receive a huge piece of lemon meringue pie so knew that a piece that big would be too big for just me. Thoroughly recommend calling in for a meal when you are there.

Breakfast was just perfect really nicely presented and well priced. So I decided to go back for dinner, Had a steak meal and I was not disappointed. The steak came out on a hot plate still sizzling and was cooked to perfection (med rear) the meal was well priced and the atmosphere was very nice, warm and welcoming. Took my wife out to breakfast we had never been to this place before and were looking forward to it. We had just sat down when one of the waitress came over and asked if we were ready to order to which we replied no, she stuck her order pad in her pocket and commented "ahh so you are not ready then " and took of. We looked at each other and thought what was that all about. A little later another waitress came over and asked if we were ready to order, she was very pleasant and took our order. My wife had pancakes which were nice but soggy in the centre my farmers breakfast was ok apart from the toast which was very crisp around the outside edge. Just an average meal.

We booked for a 10.30am Brunch and this was not a problem. There was a great menu however no consistency in the waitressing. We dealt with 4 different staff and it was evident that communication was not great internally. The food was prompt and reasonably priced. Although the corn stack lacked flavour, presentation was awesome. (Could potentially have done with some sweet chilli sauce in the corn mixture or on the side) we would definately go back and love the location.

This place has had awesome food and and a good variety with something for basically all..sometimes waits can be kinda long but it doesnt matter, that's what talking to the people you're with is for. Everytime ive gone there been seated straight away except for one night where it was packed. And within minutes water brought over and taking drink orders then being checked on in 5 for food order. Highly recommend...especially for those date nights. Not too pricey and good quality food and service(note to complainers...treat staff with respect and they'll give you respect)
