Awesome everything. Food amazing. Service brilliant. The calamari was the best I've had anywhere.

Great atmosphere, our server was lovely and she didn't mind that we moved tables a few times to get a good one outside 🙈 The salmon was under cooked but when we mentioned it they gave us a fresh plate and took it off the bill. Will definitely return when back in the Mount as the food was really good and they had great customer service!

Food was ok. The mussels were good but the seafood chowder was average (for the price it charged). Good atmosphere though with all day happy hour menu on Sunday which included some pretty good cocktail options.

Took my mum for lunch, greatly enjoyed the seafood platter nice outdoor seating and great service

We've been there a few times trying different dishes and all of them were really good, especially the snapper ones and curry! Desserts were also amazing! We had a banoffee pavlova and a sticky date pudding. Delicious!!

Seafood chowder was absolutely Devine, thanks to the chefs! Salted caramel espresso martini, on point and the best one I have had to date, delicious. Staff are very friendly and totally accommodating, absolutely made our night so thanks heaps!

Only visit once，the food was good and always been delivered quickly，the desert is superb，however，I'm not sure what was because we visited at around 2:30 and interrupted the staff to take rest，the lady who served us looks unhappy and make me feel that we are not welcomed.

This is a lovely little restaurant with terrific food and service. We had the fish pie, which was delicious, and the spaghetti marinara (spaghetti with seafood) was fabulous! Just a note: this place has the best restaurant website we've every seen with photos of every dish. This makes it easy to pick exactly what you want before you come here.

A very hearty meal. We all loved the seafood chowder. Outdoor seating area was nice, big cosy cushions - though lots of flies when we first sat down. Somehow they miraculously disappeared once we started our meal lol

Great food here with very fresh ingredients and well assembled dishes. The snapper with potato gratin was delicious with the cream sauce and my friend had the Laksa which looked so yummy. We all had dessert and the cheesecake and sticky date pudding stood out. Service was friendly and attentive without being overbearing. We stayed till the end and they didn't rush us out. Will definitely come back again to try the laksa.

The seafood platter starter is amazing! Oysters, garlic prawns, fish, smoked mussels, and ceviche. For mains we had the Asian mussels - yum, so big and tasty! Also the octopus salad was nice but a bit too much dressing. Great service and wines too.

First night in NZ, and best meal of the trip! So many enticing choices on the menu, a great selection of wines to choose from, and service with a patient smile. I had the Balinese seafood curry and could not have been happier. My friend said the Fish Chowder was one of the best things she’s ever eaten.

Wow! I'm not a regular review writer but this place is special so I'm working out how to tell others. Seafood platter, rocket salad and two glasses of wine add up to an experience I can only describe as decadent. Stopped in for the funky name but found Bluff oysters, pine nuts, roe applied in a taste explosion that I actually like and service that was optimally sincere and competent. Best meal I've had in years!

Good but not amazing. They could also add a little bit of quantity on the platter. Again, not a bad place but the best either.

Love the food and the atmosphere! My husband and I went for Mother’s Day with our 16 mo and at the end of our dinner our little one was getting a bit fussy. The owner came over and offered to hold her and walk her around while we finished. It was such a thoughtful gesture and was so appreciated! Highly recommend if you’re in the mood for great food and service.

The meals are divine, the mussels in coconut cream and tamarind is mouth watering delicious. Service could do with a bit of a smile. The oysters are super yummy. The kids meals were a decent portion as well.

The staff were lovely and the food was delicious. We had the seafood platter which was $60 which for what you got we thought was really good value for money. Don't be put off by the plastic chairs and simplistic decor because the food was great and the service was even better.

Ordered half a dozen of Coromandel Oysters and ended up ordering another half hehe. About $16 for half a doz. Comes with rice wine vinaigrette at the side. The Coromandel Scallops was very tasty as well. They don't do takeaway though (at least for oysters). :D

It has exquisite seafood options and a very busy/vibrant atmosphere.

Lovely Lunch here on a Sunday. Restaurant fairly quiet so had pick of seats. Inside and outside sitting which is great for summer. Everyone's meal was delicious. Do have other meat options if not into seafood.

Fabulous meals. We had oysters on the half shell to start. Extremely fresh and tasty! Then we had the snapper with a creamy prawn sauce and potatoes. The main was so rich and filling. Really exceptional meal all around. Highly recommendable!

Great experience! Had a lunch there. Fish was perfectly cooked and well seasoned. Calamari were really tender. It is crucial for fish restaurant to use fresh ingredients and Fish face exceeded my expectations! Highly recommend!

Best Prawns in town! And the service outstanding! Fee and Kate will make you feel welcome and didn't even charge for my beer that I forgot to pay ;) Don't forget to take a photo next to the big fish on the wall :)

Food here is delicious. My son felt like seafood for his bday and our friend recommended this place. Cost just over $200 to feed all 5 of us and no one was disappointed!

Absolutely awesome! I have dined here a number of times and have never once been disappointed. The food is to-die-for and is definitely the best seafood restaurant in Tauranga! Friendly service and they will go out of their way to fit you in at short notice. I would highly recommend booking though as you really don't want to miss out.

Food was amazing. We had natural oysters and they have been the best oysters we have ever had. We also had the seafood Mornay pie, there was so much fresh seafood in it. Delicious. and then half a dozen mussels which were also amazing.

Fish Face definitely deserves all it's high ratings. The food was quality and super tasty. I had the Spanish mussels and it was awesome. Highly recommend but I think you should make a booking if you decide to go. It was justifiably popular and busy.

Very nice beer battered Snapper and green lipped mussels and cold beer

The interior is very tastefully decorated with Indonesian cultural objects. It had a really nice feel to the place, and the people working there clearly cared a lot about the place. Apparently it's been owned by a number of different Dutch owners over about 30 years. They acknowledged the Dutch colonization on the menu in a way that was incredibly respectful as well - noting that it was nothing to be proud of, which was cool in my book.

Fabulous meal of Snapper Ceviche and Calamari and Snapper and Chips. Fresh , hot and super 👌 tasty . We turned up just before 1.45pm Saturday so it was relatively quiet . We had a great chat with the waiter from Canada and the Pommie chef . Nothing was a problem. We asked for a change from battered Snapper to pan fried and we were accommodated straight away . It meant that our fish wasn't pre prepared so that's a bonus .My wife and our friend had the homemade Sticky Date Pudding. Wow what a delightful and delicious dessert. Highly recommended .

We came here for our wedding anniversary. It's a small yet cosy setup with minimal decor but the food is oh so good, with a great selection of meat and seafood dishes on the menu.

A busy little place in Mt Maunganui. It can be very busy and the sun can be a problem if you're looking onto the road at sunset. Nicely cooked food at reasonable prices but the staff do get busy so expect some delays

Glorious! Tons of staff. Super attentive service. Despite being crazy-busy, they gave us a table and fed us promptly. The steak was utterly magnificent! I know, it's a seafood restaurant... but we all left with very satisfied bellies.

Quaint, fun decor with friendly staff and a diverse menu. Fish and chips are pretty good, but the seafood curry blew me away. A unique spin, a light curry that has a pineapple like taste accompanied by jasmine rice and a plethora of fish (prawn, muscles, white fish, calamari), that is a cannot miss!

This place absoultly blew me and partner away! Sadly we did come to dine on oysters, however they were sold out. But this was soon forgotten when we were treated to a culinary delight of other seafood dishes. Service was great and noticed they when miles above for locals and travelers alike.

The food and service was amazing. My girlfriend isn't a big seafood person but she is now converted. Never thought I'd see the day when she would eat half a kilo of mussles. Was one of the best restaurant meals we've ever had. We will definitely be returning.

The food is fantastic here! All the dishes our party ordered were thoroughly enjoyed with nothing left to show of them at the end. Service is very good and the knowledge of the menu by the wait staff is very good. Will be back to Fish Face next time I am at the MT.

I have many dietry requirements and everyone went out of their way to make sure I had a lovely meal. If you are looking for seafood you couldn't ask for better. The desserts were lovely as well. Very enjoyable meal.

I was there with my family and we were really surprised. Every single dish was delicious and the desert was amazing. Even my mother in law who is an awesome cook was absolutely amazed by the food and that never happened before :D

Delicious seafood in the heart of town. The seafood chowder and mornay pie were great. Went on a Monday night and it was fairly quiet and chill. Ample parking in the nearby area.

Nice food & Unbeatable customer service! I wasn't feeling well and the staff there allowed me to take a break in the restaurant, checked on me, offered me cold water, and then made me a short black which saved my day! I was so grateful and I felt that I have to pay for the coffee although I knew that they were not going to charge me for that. I couldn't pay enough for what they have done for me. Without their kind help, I might have to spend my holiday sleeping in my car... Thank you very much indeed! Wish you all a fantastic 2018!

It’s wonderful when the setting, service and food are all in synch. This is a nice relatively small place on the main road in this busy beach town. The service doesn’t get any nicer or better. Lots of seafood options here. We had snapper prepared really nicely served beautifully on a bed of kale and quinoa. The NZ muscles were perfect. I had the tomato pancetta sauce and it was extraordinary. Muscle sautés can be so buttery they have little other flavor. Not so with this one. The Vietnamese spicy salad with prawns was also excellent. The salad portion would not have been enough as a main, but with the muscles it was perfect. Wine list was also very good. We appreciated the friendly service from everyone in the place and the great meal.

We had a table of 8 people and 4 of us ordered the surf and turf. My order was for medium rare with prawns. Instead I had a well done with no prawns, the waiter quickly added prawns. Everyone else's meals were good however. Might have just been a simple mistake

We ordered the snapper with quinoa, kale, pumpkin and feta and the seafood risotto. The snapper with quinoa sounds like some super healthy, "no thank you, i'm on vacation dish" but don't be put off - it was really good and satisfying. The seafood risotto was delicious as well, it was very creamy with lots of seafood in it. The portions was generous so you could do starters and then split the a main.

Best food we‘ve had in NZ so far. Starters: King Prawn and Chorizo Bruschetta ad well as sesame seared tuna with wasabi and avocado mousse, mains were pan-fried snapper on quinoa salad and Spagetti Marinara. We finished our meal with chocolate and coconut mousse. All in all, awesome and very yummy experience, great wines with the meal, very attentive and friendly service. Highly recommended!

The food is tasty I ordered chowder for 28$, was small size but it contains smoked salmon, scallops and jumbo shrimp which add another dimension to the dish even I was not full lol The mains prices from 25$ to 55$

Great fish menu. The standard dishes are nice, however I would recommend the "day special"- the risotto or the catch of the day (last item on the menu)- finger-licking-good

Lovely food with pleasant casual dining. Menu has a wide variety of different types of seafood and preparations. Cod cooked in banana leaf is a highly recommended.
