Ended up here sorts by mistake (thought it was somewhere else). A good mistake though. We had a mixed platter for two plus a chicken, bacon & mozzarella pizza & some drinks. The platter was excellent (wasn't fussed about the sopressa hot salami though). Pizza was also excellent. Special kudos to the waitress who was professional and was a credit to the restaurant. Would happily recommend to others... A word to the wise tho... Dress nicely!

Me and my partner visited this place last night and wow the food was absolutely beautiful. One of the best pasta dishes I have tried in a very long time. Service was really good and prices were really good.

A beautiful restaurant, love the aesthetic! Wait staff were super friendly and very helpful when we had questions about particular items. I ordered the prawn Gambrei , food came quickly and was absolutely delicious. Definitely will come back to try more from their menu.

This place has a great atmosphere and great service but I was really disappointed in a few things - mainly the food. When we arrived they offered us either sparkling or flat water. We chose sparkling thinking it was complementary as it’s a high end restaurant and this is typically the norm, but they added $10 to our bill for it which is annoying at best. Not a huge deal but just added to the overall disappointing list experience. In terms of food - My partner liked his pasta but I thought it was lackluster and without flavor. The main disappointment though was the scallops. They were so small and overcooked they were like mush to eat, and they did not have a great flavor which was such a bummer! We did get the pizza bread as an appetizer which was very yummy though- so that’s why I’m giving it 3 stars. I wouldn’t come back here sadly. It was worth a try though.

We've always loved Osteria, the food is top notch with great cocktails. Only thing we found in summer time, it can get extremely hot inside so choose your meal appropriately. Otherwise, amazing!

The menu, ambience, and smells drew us in, however the taste of the mains had sadly not lived up to our expectations. The noodles in particular tasted totally store bought, not freshly made as expected of a classy-looking and high priced Italian restaurant. Also, for a pasta dish, having to crack open and peel a giant prawn with your fingers makes it difficult to get into right from the start. At least the red sauce was great for this and the arancini balls.

Visited with a group of 10 people during really busy Good Friday. Service was great with friendly staff. Cocktails were probabaly the quickest we have ever had and the food was sensational. Out of the 10 of us there was not one dish that wasn't absolutley fantastic. For a really busy restaurant we were impressed with the quality and speed. thank you

Visited in March 2021. Yummy pasta and cocktails. Food came pretty quickly when it was busy as well. Nice ambience but can feel quite out of place if you’re going after the beach in your beachwear 😅

Food was good, however there was NO CUSTOMER SERVICE at all. The staff was all the time chatting each other, and we needed literally to screaming always when we wanted to order something. I order a second drink (and that never came). When I asked the waitress for the drink, she went back there for check, and said to me: "That was never been placed", that's all, she didn't ask me if I want that to be still done or not....🤷🏼‍♀️ After that, a asked (screaming of course) for the dessert menu. She bring the menu, and never came back for get the order. I felt like there was no manager or anyone else on that day for leading the staff (that's the only thing I could guess was happening).

Reserved a table midweek yet found ourselves at arguably the worst table in the establishment. Compliments to staff who were professional and did all they could. Starters were tasty but mains unexciting. Overall reasonable value but not a memorable experience.

The mushroom risotto and smoked salmon pasta we had was delicious! The food at Osteria has never disappointed. We had sides of mashed potato with gravy and an arugula salad too. You should definitely try the arugula salad, 10/10. The only downside to my experience was that the staff forgot about us for 30-40 minutes and we were trying to get their attention and we were clearly done and unsure if we should just head inside. I think it’s just because they were so busy? I still thoroughly enjoyed my experience

Had a wonderful time & experience at Osteria. We decided last minute to head out for a meal ... We walked into Osteria and all tables were take, we didn't fancy sitting outdoors although there was outdoor heating. Friendly acknowledgement as we arrived asking for next available table ... We were advised to come back in 5 minutes when a table would be prepared ... Which it was when we returned. Within couple of minutes approached with drinks menu, orders taken then meals ordered ... Service was great. Although restaurant was busy we didn't wait long for our meals. The linguini was delicious & the risotto cooked to perfection. Overhearing other patrons we heard similar comments. Weve eaten at their Matamata restaurant and it was great to see consistency from the food to customer experience Overall great experience. Certainly returning with our children post school holidays

Great atmosphere, wonderful service and the food was amazing. Our table of nine was well pleased with the mains. Be sure to order the garlic bread and make sure you phone ahead to book a table because it’s very popular.

Wow, we are so impressed every time we come here. This was our second time visiting (well third because our first time we came twice in one day). It was my husband’s birthday and we were greeted with glasses of Prosecco to celebrate. Such a simple touch made us feel so recognized and special. Then, the food came and was absolutely devine in every way. I was even telling my husband that this is probably my most favorite restaurant in New Zealand given the atmosphere, value for money, and quality of food! Lovely Italian restaurant. Pastas and pizzas are just perfect. I can not show the taste but guarantee that you will enjoy and be more than expected. It seems that all the cooks and owner are Italian. You can taste of Italian touch. Even service was nice and kind. Everything was satisfying.

Beautiful warm relaxing establishment, top food and selection of NZ and Italian wines. The staff are wonderful and really look after you as only Italian hosts are truly able. The food is without compare in Tauranga, freshly cooked by skilled chefs, I always have to ask for my food without any garlic due to allergies, this is no problem at all... ever, here I can eat with confidence and be completely at ease. Chicken Saltimbocca, prosciutto, sage, mash, carrots and cauliflower. plus a glass of delicious Chianti. A wide range of Italian dishes and afters.For special occasions or dinners it is the place to be. I can highly recommend this restaurant as your local google guide, it is unmatched by any other in the Tauranga and Mount Area, Top establishment. Try it soon and enjoy the food service and decor as I do..

All dishes were beautiful and perfect. I sometimes go to Italian restaurants in Auckland, their food are often too greacy and l cannot eat them all. When l visit Tauranga next time, l'll come back Osteria again.

Agree with a few of the previous comments that there was a general lack of 'wow' factor of the food to reflect the price. We came here on a Saturday evening and were sat at a table toward the front of the restaurant. Ordered the duck and lamb shank to share. The meat was good but the seasonal vegetables were nothing really special. The outside tables looked like they would be nice on a good evening. Service was okay but not great.

Alittle underwhelmed really - Was hoping it would be great but very expensive dishes that arrived really quickly. Mine was pleasant but not delicious and my wife was very disappointed with hers. The salad was painfully expensive for a few bits of rocket and nuts. Don't think i'd go back sadly based on the other choices in the area.

I LOVE this place! Anytime I travel to either tauranga or my Maunganui I have to have a meal in this restaurant. The place has a cool interior design whuch a earopean feel to eat. The portions are huge so you definitely leave full. The last time I was there I ordered chefs special- seafood risotto and OMG I think I liked the plate clean! I cannot stop thinking about it. That dish made my soul happy :)

A go to ,never fail, dining out best of restaurant at the Mount. Locals know it for awesome steaks.. I love the slow cooked meats. Always excellent staff, we had two lovely waitresses tonight with beautiful foreign accents to make us feel like we were abroad. Lovely night out, Italian red wine xx

Atmosphere at this restaurant is great. The main courses were delicious however, the flourless chocolate cake was very dry and like a rock. Two people in our party had the cake and both felt the same. Other than that, the main courses look and taste great.

Food was great, our waitress was excellent, very impressed and she went out of her way to make sure our toddler was looked after which was really appreciated. The only thing that changed my rating from a 5 to a 4 was the welcome. We didn't have a booking and the maitre d had a bit of an attitude kind of like 'we'll have to see if we can fit you in' rather than being accommodating welcoming extra customers.

Beef rib is to die for - serving size is so big and really reasonably priced. It comes with 2 amazing croquettes and perfect crunchy broccolini, along with some potato mash and delicious sauce. Easily the best beef rib dish I've ever eaten. Desserts are incredible - my favourites are the choc lava cake and the tiramisu which is heavenly!

Had a lovely dinner for a group of six. Seated in a very comfortable booth with two of us seated in the most comfortable chairs I've dat I like forever. Table service was excellent and everything g was to us in amazing time. Ambience is lovely. My only little point if was my pork belly was a little dry but still very tasty with amazing crackling. All in all we thoroughly enjoyed our evening and all 6 of us will be back. 3rd time here for one of our couples whose 1st visit was only a month ago lol. 👍👍👍👍

We were on our 2020 vacation in the Mount again so we came back here for dinner. On our arrival we were greeted with a friendly smile. After being escorted to our table we ordered Spaghetti Bolognese and Creamy Bacon Fettuccine. As always the staff were very attentive to their diners needs. The staff were friendly and were very fast at serving us. The food came out extremely quick considering it was fully booked and everything tasted divine! Although it was really busy and we were part of a large group the service was good. The venue had a lovely cosy atmosphere and we didn't feel cramped. Although the food was at the top end of our usual budget it was delicious and the portions good, you did have to pay extra for accompanying salads or vegetables though. First time customers we went to celebrate our anniversary. It was nice atmosphere but I felt a bit cramped between the bar tables and the window. When asked if we could move next to the fire, which was a dreamy table, the answer was no, though it was available. Later the manager said he would have let us have the table if he knew it was our anniversary. Was disappointed we couldn’t get a table as no one was seated in that area for at least 20 minutes 🙁 I guess a lesson learned for next time or for those reading review. Love winter time dining near a fire. The food was good, the servers and manager very polite.

My partner & I went here tonight, & it would have to be by far the best restaurant we have been to, the service from the waiters was fast, the food was amazing, and fast, will definitely be coming back. Thankyou for the beautiful food and amazing fast efficient service.

The lasagne was PERFECT! And was huge, so I strongly recommend to share it if youre not too hungry. We had to wait because was really busy on the 2nd of January, but the place is great so we just enjoyed some wine in the while, and spent a great time. Thanks!

The best dining experience I have had in a long time. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was relaxed and inviting and the staff were friendly and attentive to the customers needs. Each course arrived at the table in a timely manner to allow the previous course to digest a little and not rush the customer to leave. The food is superb, service is great, the tables slightly small in the middle, but the atmosphere is great and vibrant and felt really well looked after. The Ribeye is to die for the sauce is amazing and presentation really nice - unfortunately I felt the mashed spuds were not done properly and not enough of them. Mashed spuds are best made with a good dollop of butter, and some milk in them, light seasoning perhaps of some morroccan spice if your really feeling daring. Mashed Spuds were slightly too dry but other than that an excellent meal.

We loved their Iskender Meal with Chicken, which also comes with a generous amount of rice, hummus, beetroot dip, mixed salad, tabbouleh and Turkish bread, and also the Salad Bowl with Falafels with green salad leaves, hummus, beetroot dip, tabbouleh, sweet chilli and Turkish bread.
