Service was great, very efficient and friendly. Food was just what we wanted, the ribs are always amazing! Only negative really was the brownie kids dessert tasted like cardboard. I assume it is just out of a box. My brownie loving child wouldn't eat it.

We opted to have our meals takeaways. What fabulous dishes they were. Beautifully packed in compostable containers. The food was so much and so delicious we managed to have plenty left over for the next night. Thoroughly recommend Shani's. The bottle store next door is handy if you're going straight home like we were.

This is my top pick for a keto or zero carb dinner out in Napier! They have fantastic service and gave us great portions of meat and some veg without sauces. Everyone was full after dinner. They handled the keto modifications really well and came to check with us when they weren't sure if any of the components would meet our dietary requirements. Truly outstanding food and service. The 400g scotch is worth the wait for the long cooking time but if you have kids with you you may want to get their food brought out before the 400g steak, you will need to ask for this explicitly or they will bring all the food together so everyone has to wait for this amazing steak to cook.

Lamb shank oh my god! The most tender meat ever, it fell of the bone with the lightest touch. Sitting on a beautiful potatoes mash. Rosemary sauce all over. Side with broccoli and cauliflower. Highly recommend this, but make sure your hungry its a huge shank. I will be back over and over again. Yum!!!

Service here was too notch! Good atmosphere for casual dining and has kids area. Each table has a rock salt jar to hold a tea light candle. The food was lovely and served in good time. Spacious and clean restaurant. The parking isn't the best but the food well makes up for it. I had pork rack and saw other meals served while here and they all looked really nice.

Went here for a family birthday dinner. Was overwhelmed with the portion sizes! Ordered the full rack of ribs for $40 and needed help from the family to finish them! Could easily share between two people. Lots of meals to choose from and an extensive desert menu. Went on a friday night and it was packed, so probably best to book!

They manage to "sneak" us in for dinner which was really good. When our orders arrived though, food wasn't exactly what we ordered -- Hawaiian burger did not have pineapple, we were served regular chips whereas I upgraded all our chips to Curly chips and my kids didn't get the juice included in their meals. Food tasted amazing though, so I still give them 3 stars but yeah.. maybe a little improvement on checking the right orders before serving...

This is my first time visiting NZ from Australia, we had amazing service from Taneisha from the moment we walked in the door until the moment we left. Right from door we were greeted with happy and kind customer service last night! Showed our table of 3 to our seats, took our drink order and soon enough we ordered our food. The wait time was only about 15 minutes for our starters and mains, which were 2 buffalo wings, 2 garlic breads and a burger. Food was piping hot, perfect portions and freshly cooked. Amazing! So delicious! One of the best food ive had at a restaurant! We had sharp table service who topped up our drinks and soon enough bought out large portions of deserts (banoffee pies, chocolate sundae). I must say, the restaurant was busy with a large birthday and many tables full, BUT that did not affect the service we received at our table, everything was perfect. Thanks so much! Will definitely be back for more!

So we went to shanis last night and had a fantastic time, food looked great and was served in a timely fashion. We had mixed thoughts on the food, between us we had the famous ribs, steak, chips, mash potato, chorizo sausages, garlic bread, grilled chicken breast, brocolli and cauliflower with cheese sauce and for dessert we had death by chocolate, banoffee cheese cake and the chocolate lava cake. Most was delicous but the steaks were quite chewy and undercooked, the mash potato was lumpy and the chocolate lava cake wasnt great. If you go here stick to the ribs.....they are the best All in all though shanis is a fantastic friendly restaurant to go to and they even have a kids room to distract the brats We gave 3 stars because the above mentioned but will definately go again

Quaint place to come for decent meal. We came in with 2 children, and the kids meals were presented so nicely. Impressed by that. My steak was cooked perfectly how ever my cousins was overcooked. She still ate it and didnt want to make a fuss. The sauce on the salad did not go with meal. Too sweet. The crispy noodles are not necessary and the salad overall would go much nicer with a vinaigrette. My partner and cousin ordered the burgers which were huge and apparently quite delicious. Everything was really well priced. Staff were nice. So overall it was good.

Fantastic! My workmates told me about this place, I must admit I wasn't expecting it to be as great as it was. We had the $15 steak special (Wednesday nights) and the piece of steak that came out was perfect. Thick, yet perfectly cooked and juicy. The fries were fantastic. There is a separate little kids room with books, toys and even a PlayStation. The service was excellent and all the meals really nice. Very pleasantly surprised, we'll be returning soon.

REALLY expensive for the experience - similar prices to upmarket wineries, and the food was far from it. Steak was overcooked, and meals took an incredibly long time to arrive, other meals were nice enough but not amazing. Will not be returning in a hurry.

When I first looked on line for a place for the family to eat out on our trip to Napier, I skipped over this place because of the unusual name! Boy was I wrong!! What a lovely place! So glad we went to Shani's, it was amazing. The staff were friendly and helpful, our kids loved the kids area and we all loved the yummy food! We had the Mates rate special calamari, cooked to perfection, and at an awesome price! There was an add on side of ribs for $10 - wow! Perfect again! Starter's, desserts, mains - it was a feast from start to finish, portion sizes great, lovely space inside. Recommend!

Loved the stone-look feature walls and the roaring hearth. Service was prompt and friendly, the handles generous, and the lemon lime and bitters made fresh, with good ingredients. Shani's also boasts a rather unique method of burger ordering, where you can choose your filling (including veg*n options) and then the style you'd like it. We had the beef burger, in cheese and mushroom style, and a starter portion of cajun wings (more than sufficient for a lighter appetite!), and both were delicious, if quite messy! The finger bowl of lemon water was a lovely touch. I'm definitely going to be back to sample their famous ribs, with high expectations.

Beautiful food best waitress ever high 5 Brooke. Lots of staff out front walking around trying to look busy but not doing anything. The no 1 worker was Brooke you need a pay rise.
