Best Fish and chips I've had in a long time. Fish was fresh and chips plentiful. The Dutch snacks also made the experience a unique one and it was nice we could sit down and eat

Partner and I absolutely loved 😋 the meal we had from here, paua fritters, battered oysters fish and steak burgers teamed with garlic chips and super fresh! Definitely satisfied with our meal! We will be back! A+ from our bellies👌

For those who love garlic chips this is one of the best we’ve tried, straight off from the cook and onto the table they are covered with just the right amount of garlic to chips ratio and that the chips are just good themselves. It’s nice to have seating at a fish n chip shop and that the area is always buzzing with the community. Burgers here are really good too.

Decent fish but burgers were average and overal meal was a bit greasy. Small serving of chips, especially for the price. The wait was 50min for dinner for two (20min longer than we were told)!

Didn't intend coming here but the place I was heading to has gone out of business! Just as well, because these were possibly the best ever fish and chips - crunchy crumb on the generous portions of gurnard and perfectly cooked chips. Very moderately priced, too.

As a f&c connoisseur, the frying Dutchman offered a solid crinkle chip, good batter on the ol' crabstick and fresh fish. A little on the expenny side but f&c is always worth it xz

Nice clean premises, reasonable prices, and the nicest fish and chips I have tasted in a very long time! (We are them at the oceanside reserve nearby, in Hardinge Street.)

A pleasant surprise we went for takeaways but found much more, chips were excellent but add a few for good measure. Aoli has a strong garlic hit, the snapper (crumbed) was excellent and the spring rolls delicious, could have dined in but didn't , next time I'm looking for a feed in Napier, I know where to head for a chip feast.

Had crumbed snapper and chips, very well cooked fish not dry chips also very good. Would have had oysters also but at $3.50 each and minimum of three decided to leave off meal.

The fish of the day was great! A decent amount of fish with batter that wasn't a sloppy mess. Best I've had in a while. Reminded me of John's Lunch in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia..... Probably the best fish and chip restaurant in the world. Well....The Frying Dutchman would be a contender for that title. At least, on the day I went there it was.

The mural outside and the name drew my husband and I in, but they had really nice battered fish. Portions are on the large side. Servers were quite nice.

The fish was fresh, the batter was not too thick, light and crunchy, pretty impressed with the chips too. Obviously the fat was red hot which is essential in producing good fish and chips, best I've had in a long time...but ate too much...lol i wish the new owners well if they keep that consistently.

Bought $24 pack (5 fish 1 scoop chips) for (3) adults we enjoyed it best fish n chips so far in Napier. Cooked just right...batter lovely in crunchy and not fatty...chips crunchy. We could only eat one fish each they were a good portion for $24 a great meal by the beach. Highly recommend.

$15 Feed for 3 and still plenty leftover. A little oily but super delicious nonetheless. Drinks are abit overpriced so I recommend getting your drinks elsewhere.

Immaculately clean, wonderfully friendly staff and the food is fantastic. The fish is fresh and the batter is light and crisp. Beautiful. The chips are fried to perfection. The beef kroket are to die for. Close your eyes taste them and you are transported to the Netherlands. Except they taste even better than they are in Holland! Thanks Frying Dutchman for the wonderful food and my nostalgia hit :)

This is our go to fish n chip shop. I get the vegetarian spring roll and my partner gets either a fish, crab stick and/or a normal spring roll. Usually we go for kumara chips when we feel like chips too. Always yum! Never been a disappointment.

Battered blue cod and chips. Amazingly good and we should know as we eat a lot of fish and chips in England. Definitely come here again and recommend to all.

Loved fish n chips here and their steak role and crab stuck were really good...friendly staff and plenty of parking across the road. Had to wait 30mins for the order (they've clearly mentioned that there's a 30min wait) but worth waiting

Only ordered the Chips as I'm a Celiac. Spoke to the Owner who said chips are offered as a Low Gluten option as they can't promise that cross contamination has occurred although their training endeavours to prevent this.
