Reviews of Aki Sushi Nelson
Always love to eat here. I have dined-in here for several times but on my recent visit here with my friend, we’ve ordered the rice bowls and they were amazing!! Other than the rice bowls, my usual order here is the teriyaki chicken rice. Definitely not my last visit!
Like most towns around New Zealand - Nelson has a plethora of Sushi stores, some great - others not so great.
"194 Eatery" falls well within the category of the former, this place is amazing!
Something which I am preferring from my Sushi eating experience lately is the ability to actually SELECT the individual sushi pieces, rather than buy a predefined 6 or 12 pack.
194 Eatery lets you do this, and from a wide range of amazing sushi options.
There is a good selection of choices, including but certainly not limited to:
Salmon based Maki, branching out to the popular avocado and cream-cheese combination (a personal favourite) to Inari topped with teriyaki chicken and kewpie mayo. Nigiri topped with prawn and salmon options as well as an oven packed with Panko fried prawns, Takoyaki (Octopus balls) and Chicken Katsu.
All of the foods I have mentioned above are just a small example of what is on offer, and if I were to try and list them all I would be typing all night!
All of the produce used in these dishes is fresh and of the finest quality. This tells me that the staff who prepare the food are very experienced, and treat the food which they create with a dedication and care worthy of the most discerning of patrons.
The layout of the restaurant is ideal, with an 'island' containing the fresh sushi options placed down the MIDDLE of the restaurant, allowing diners to walk down each side of the display, selecting their options from either side which keeps the queue for food moving. There is plenty of seating also with a couple of seats outside if the weather is suitable.
The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable and we were provided with REAL wasabi, ginger and soy sauce.
My wife and I really enjoyed our lunch here, and will certainly be back.
If you love sushi, go here. If you don't love sushi, go here too - maybe you were mistaken!
