A simple meal of steak, eggs, and chips taken to another level.
Service from the staff outstanding.
The atmosphere, good music, nice lighting, tables and chairs comfortable.
The meal taken to a whole new flavour level. Steak medium rare and delivered exactly like that. The steak beautifully presented on the plate. Eggs perfectly cooked. Enough chips to not overpower the plate of food.
I rarely give 5 stars but seriously hard not too. Having eaten in various places in Nelson over the last three days this is the best by far. Value for money is here.

The outdoor setting was perfect, the staff were amazing went over & above nothing was a problem. The drinks specials were very generous, as were the platters of food and they even provided us with extra free of charge. I can't recommend 623 enough we will definitely be having our next function there.

They have crusaders icons inside, im from Christchurch so i noticed that being in nelson city.. cafe, bar, lounge.. the porterhouse n the chicken breast i had both separate days n enjoyed it completely had no complaints at all 5stars. Go get something

They particularly helped us with the menu selections upon learning about our gluten intolerance.
Bravo to the staff and the chef!!

P. B.I don't leave many low star reviews but this place was pretty drab and moreso given the prices. We went for brunch/lunch. The service was good and friendly but the decor and food were poor. My breakfast was missing sausages and the bacon looked grey and tasted worse. They must only survive on passing trade or we went on a poor day. It was too pervasively depressing to even bother complaining.

J. Y.This place is not on the google map or yelp as of Apr 2017. We went in because we couldn't find anything we were interested in the area. Very tasty salt 'n' pepper squid, so was the rump steak. My friend had the big beef burger, and she said it was her best burger EVER.

K. D.We were there as a reserved group for a farewell. The pub did a set menu for us at reasonable price. Our waitress,Victoria, was excellent taking orders calmly in an organized way. After the orders were taken, she took extra drink orders and these were served quickly. She was very friendly and helpful,announcing that the meals were about to be served to allow extra drink orders as required. The food was excellent, beautifully cooked and well presented. The portions were generous, and delicious and fit the menu descriptions. Well done that chef! After dinner drinks and superb coffees topped off a great evening! Thank you 623.

J. R.623 is just fine. The food is pretty standard pub food. It's neither terrible not amazing and exiting. The pricing is neither great value nor a rip off. I've been quite a few times and tried a lot on the menu as the location is great for casual functions, upstairs can be booked out and is handy for birthdays/work do's etc.
I've had lots of average meals, Desert menu is very plan. I've had one very bad fish and chips where I cut into the fish and a load of salt water came out and soggied my batter/chips/meal, on the other hand I've had the vegetarian cannelloni that that was very flavorful, tasty and filling.
Staff are generally pretty good.
