Yuuummm! Tried the blue cheese burger & the pulled pork burger - both so so good with a delicious char-grilled taste! I've had mates talk this place up so much, so I came in with very high expectations; it more than delivered. Will probably go back to try other burgers tomorrow.

Amazing veggie burger. Probably one of the best ones i’ve had in a long time, the patty was crispy and delicious, as was the rest of the burger. Also got one of their house made sodas (Pineapple) which was really tasty.

So good, excellent burgers and sides. And really good cider! Awesome service too, the girl that served us was so friendly 🙂

Great time at Burger Culture - great vibe and super helpful, friendly staff that all looked happy to be there! Always a plus. We both had awesome chicken burgers the best I’ve probably had. Definitely will return when next in Nelson!

Amazingly delicious burgers! Been there twice and once we got an amazing customer service. Second time we were ignored for 15 mins watching staff having a chat not even looking at us. So it seems like it can be a hit or miss

Absolutely smashing experience! Anytime I'm visiting from Christchurch, I always seem to gravitate to Burger Culture. To attest to other reviews, quite possibly the best burgers on the South Island! Did it takeaway on my last visit. Cookie and Creak Super Shake, Double Cheazy-E... Raspberry Donut, Loaded chips. Winner!

What a surprise! I just had the best fish burger in NZ. Bun perfectly toasted. Crispy fish fillet with Cajun spice. I’m from New Orleans and know what I’m talking about. Creole mayo,pickles and avocado. I was half way finished and tempted to order another. But alas, I am trying to lose a few pounds and can’t give up a new year resolution on day 7.

Had a burger after watching jackass last night. Good service but the beef burgers were a bit dry and crumbly. The others had the chicken burgers and they were good. Busy place with a good atmosphere.

Been here twice, found it alright. Unfortunately, I still prefer other large joint burger places for flavour. The price is a bit steep for the size of the burgers. The curly fries are great though!

Went here on a Sunday afternoon. I have to say, this was the best burger EVER! Highly recommend, did not have to wait too long and these burgers are made with passion. Will defiantly be returning! The shakes and donuts looks amazing too!!!!

Best burgers in the top of the south hands down! Fried chicken is fantastic, milkshakes are awesome and the portions of chips are epic. You will leave feeling satisfied. There are loads of outdoor tables at various sizes with heaps of sun umbrellas. Staff are super friendly and attentive and service is quick. Great food, great atmosphere and good music

Love the burgers! And I really appreciated that I could choose what to add or minus from the burger on their website. Tried the fried chicken as well. It’s good but feel like overpriced. Anyway, all ingredients are fresh and high quality

Was an awesome meal, I went back the next day! The burgers were huge and they had just the right blend of flavours to be familiar yet exotic. Their smoothies are really cool too and come out with cream on top. They were very accommodating of our dietary needs, and the whole vibe there is so cool. I loved that the staff were wearing beanies and jeans. Our service was prompt and polite, especially given how busy they were, and they were happy to answer any questions we had which was awesome. Had a great birthday dinner and following day brunch here for my friend :)

Best burgesr I had in New Zealand! (and maybe even in my life...!) I've been there several time and tried different ones, it was delicious everytime! Don't forget to get the curly fries wich are amazing!!

Despite very strong competition I would rate these the best burgers in Nelson. Sit outside and watch the world go by while chowing down on Nelson's finest Burger and follow up with a doughnut as they are not too shabby either. Honestly, couldn't pull the blankets over me that night - just too full.

Interesting selection of burgers, the black burgers were particularly appealing, though just a little lacking in truffle flavour for my Truffle Shuffle burger. Good truffle fries and wide range of beer. The hot wings were just a tad salty. But otherwise great vibe.

Good selection of gourmet burgers and hop federation craft beers. Their black bun burgers were interesting. I particularly liked their truffle fries. Waiter service was decent. Honestly burger patties were just average with quite standard toppings. I preferred the outdoor covered seatings.

Loved the food especially the awesome milkshake! We went at the busiest time so the wait was bit long but it was well communicated as soon as we sat down. Lovely service and great dining experience! Would highly recommend it if you craving good burger in Nelson! Don't go elsewhere! :) Ps. Don't sit outside if you are not a fan of the seagulls. There can be quite a few surrounding.

The burger (truffle / mushroom) was lovely and I'd have given a 4 or even 5 stars but the onion rings despite looking great and the onion being super tender.. The oil they were cooked in went from yummy to yuck at it cooled and really distracted from the burger. I rarely leave food but lost my appetite. Lesson learned just have the burger and then if you're still hungry order additional. Service was fast and friendly.

We had driven a long distance and were hungry. We wanted to try as much as we could but we definitely over ate. It was a Saturday night and the place was extremely busy with takeaway orders crowding the entry and reserved tables everywhere. We decided to order takeout and if a table came up while we waited we would eat in. The house staff were very positive and managed the premises well, I didn't see any sign of frustration which is rare in a busy atmosphere. We ordered a total of 3 burgers and 3 different types of fries. The burgers were amazing. The fries were a meal on their own. I would have been happy with a small side of fries with the burger. I enjoyed the fact i could have a pint of beer with my meal which consisted of local handcraft beer. This was accompanied by various non-alchaholic beverages. For our kids I noticed there were $2 lolly bags on the counter which were a nice small sweet treat following a savory burger instead of a desert.

Friendly staff, good quality burgers. Spicy fries were great but they got cold very quickly and the cheese made fries stuck together at the bottom of the plate which was hard to eat. I would have liked the Jalapeno fries better without the cheese.

Went on a Friday night and it was very busy, had to wait a while for the burgers to be made but it was worth the wait. To pass the time they have an arcade machine and hand held game boys if some retro gaming is your thing. The burger was full of flavour especially the patty, it did not disappoint. The menu has a wide range from milkshakes to doughnuts. Would definitely recommend 👌🏻

It's ok nothing really special. The onion rings were a bit oily. The burger patties in the kids beef has weird milky/ dairy flavor. Nice staff.

Our party of four had a great first Burger culture experience. We chose to sit outside and enjoy good weather. Burgers looked and tasted amazing, not a fan of the jalapeño and cheese loaded fries though (a bit soggy). The pricing was good. Music would’ve added the ambience. Parking can be tricky, probably best to walk from Buxtons car park if it’s busy. Looking forward to trying their donuts next time we visit.

Best burgers we've had all year! We went twice in a week while in holiday in Nelson. Burgers on the menu feel crafted, not just assembled. Great flavours, a good drinks menu, and excellent desserts and shakes to go with it!

It was OK. They may have been short staffed during our visit as they seemed pretty stressed when we walked in and were in a hurry to serve and move on. I ordered my burger without the bun but when it turned up they'd forgotten to make it as a salad. I had the Mmm Bop as a vegan option from the menu. The pattie was a little mushy but the eggplant Tahini dressing was delicious!

This place is new hip and awesome, I've eaten here my times and the food is always great! Sometimes it is a touch undersalted for me but then again I like salt and I don't mind extra salting my own food. I haven't tried the vegetarian or vegan options yet but that's next on the list. The donuts are amazing and the shakes are delightful, but maybe for the future a laktosfree option would be great? Anyways this is a awesome new restaurant which is worth a visit, there is still some room for improvement but I look forward to seeing it grow.

Burger Culture is a must visit from the Sweets to the Shakes to the Burgers they make wow factor.

Our lil family were hanging out for some fried chicken so we thought we'd try this place as the menu looked pretty good, we weren't disappointed, the chicken is def up there😁 I think the best I've had, wife n kids undecided but def top 2, juicy chicken with just the right crisp on the outside and so tasty, kids loved the well presented shakes and curly fries were a hit, thanks guys.

Great vibe, friendly staff and has a vegan option. A bit disappointed that their sides aren't considered vegan but appreciate their honesty. Love that they paid attention to dietary restrictions and also changed the bun without being prompted.

Brilliant burgers and beers. Stunning service and spiders. These guys have a great spot at the top of Trafalgar St. The alfresco dining was amazing on a sunny Nelson day. My wife ordered the cheeseburger and a house peach tea spider. From all accounts it was top notch. I got a black bacon cheeseburger and local pilsner. The bacon was cooked to crispy perfection and the pilsner was crisp on a warm sunny day. One of the best burger joints I've been to.

Great retro place to enjoy a delicious burger, fries and a shake, staff friendly and helpful and food amazing, 80's music to dine to and arcade games to get competitive with. Highly recommended.

Wow, wow, wow, wow, wow! This was the best burger we've had in New Zealand. Along with the amazing onion rings and fantastic shake, all at a very reasonable price make this a place we'll come back to often. Oh, I forgot to mention the fantastic, fast, friendly service.

Fast and attentive service and a good range of sides. Burger was nice and juicy, full of flavour but everything was a little heavy on the salt. The patty was nice and thick, properly cooked. The lettuce, tomato and pickle were generous as was the crispy streaky bacon. Not sure the black bun added anything to the taste but it definitely made it pop colour-wise.

Burgers were great although the shoe string fries were stale tasting witch was disappointing afther spending $97 on a delivery meal was such a let down will not be buying this via delivery again

One of the best burgers I’ve had since I’ve been in NZ. I had the baby got black burger, I was hesitant because of the black buns but I’m happy with my choice. Also the only place I’ve been to so far in NZ that cooks bacon crispy like in NA. Everything about the burger was good, if I don’t have to question the ingredients, they’re doing something right. I also ordered the Mac & cheese which was one of the best I’ve had anywhere. I highly recommend it. The service was okay, they were busy but it was 4:30pm. Can’t knock points because they did they’re best considering. Overall if you got a burger craving in Nelson, this is the place to go!

I've been eating keto for about two months now so imagine my absolute delight to find that these guys offer a keto bun option!! Aside from it fitting my fussy eating the Baby Got Back burger was absolutely EPIC. It's a deeply messy experience, in the best way possible. You know it's a good burger when the juices are running down your arms 🤓 The fried tofu with satay dip was also a great sub for fries. And yummy! Loved the service, the decor and the food. The shakes that were being made looked totally decadent... But definitely no keto option haha! Great place. Make sure you check it out.

Was down in Nelson last week for work, popped into burger culture Wednesday night, the price for the burgers was actually worth it, we got our order fast, the burgers were really satisfying and the customer service was 5 stars,

10/10 service. Staff are super friendly and helpful even when under the pump. Burgers were great. No complaints.

The burgers are truly amazing, hard to describe what makes difference but I'll try: nice bun with grill marks - not breaking up or falling apart, patty was super flavourful, sauce and pickles made it perfect, just enough to not have a dripping mess but you could taste all the ingredients including the coriander which works surprisingly well on a burger. So....try the "Spice up your life" burger. Apart from the food the place itself is really cool.

Booked a booth table and glad we did as it was very busy on Saturday night. The shakes are a real treat, taste as good as they look. Some burgers have no salad greens in them which we would have requested if we'd noticed...still delicious but missed the lettuce crunch. Fries really good, both plain and loaded. Too full to have desert but took away some donuts for later! Great atmosphere and decor.

Coming from Argentina, used to double hamburgers with cheddar and bacon, the place is super delicious but with super rare ingredients that apparently here in New Zealand it is normal to mix everything haha but well, generous portions!

Quick and friendly welcome, we could choose our own table. The order was taken immediately, though it took a while until the food was served. 2 out of 11 burgers are veg*n. I had the Tofoo Fighter, which was deep fried tofu. For craft beer drinkers: they serve Garage Project and Hop Federation beer. Accepts credit cards.

Let's start with positives first, The supershakes are pretty delicious, the donuts have a yummy glaze with various toppings. Outdoor seating is a plus. The negatives, mediocre burgers which are poorly seasoned, overcooked patties and too expensive for a single burger that I could cook better myself. It was 13.50 for the blue cheese one. In summary would only come here for dessert and a yarn in the sun.

Best burgers ever! So much tastier than your standard meat, sauce & veg. These burgers had nuts and picked veges and all the great flavours that make a great burger without relying on sause to smother it.

I'm glad I got this photo when I did, because the burger didn't last long after that. 10/10 would eat again. Rightly so, the chips are more for sharing at the table. By the time I was through with the burger, I remembered the chips bro! I'll be back to sample the donughts next time.

I have been here twice and had the same experience both times. Good aspects were the tasty food, reasonable price and friendly staff. Lesser aspects were 15 mins from ordering to being served and the noisiness of the restaurant. Menu has an interesting variety and they use fresh local product served on metal dishes. I still intend to support this place.

The best burger I've ever had. If you're coming to the South Island forget fergburger, this is the place to visit. Amazing food, lovely staff, great selection of drinks and treats.

The staff are honest about how busy they are - great. Nobody wants to be told "we can seat you", only to find out it takes 40 minutes to get you your order. They are busy for good reason. This place gives fergburger a run for its' money, maybe even surpasses it in quality. the price is not extortionate and about what you would expect ($15ish for a burger). If you can find a quiet time to go, it is well worth it

One of the best burgers I have ever had. The Truffle Shuffle was absolutely amazing and so were the fries, on point! Also a good selection of homemade sodas and craft beer at affordable prices. Would definitely recommend!

So good I asked if they had any plans on opening a store in Wellington. Had it two days in a row, both burgers were great. Cool music, awesome shakes as well. Noiiiice

Great burgers and curly fries. $38 for two burgers and fries. We got Kanye Pesto & Ranchin on the Ceiling, no regrets. This can easily be best burger place in town! Edit Went a second time. Food was a bit fatty and not as good as the first time. Menu has just changed.

Such a delicious burger joint! A number of great vegan/ vegetarian options, and choice to substitute meat burgers with beyond beef vegan patties. The meat burgers were also very tasty and included “normal” flavour combinations as well as a few different flavour combinations. The fries were also delicious. We can’t wait to return again.

Food was great but customer service let them down, this is another example of how NZ customer service is really poor. We went for dinner and even though there was 4 minutes to go before they close the kitchen there was still customers in the restaurant eating and the staff ignored all of them and we tried to get there attention but they were busy talking rather than attending to their customers. This kind of service would never go down well in the UK but it seems the norm in NZ. Very disappointed by the customer service at this place, seems like the staff don't care and its just another job for them.

This is by far the best burger bar in New Zealand. Especially the shakes are out of this world. They even have gameboys for the younger crowd!

Absolutely amazing. The best burgers in town, if not the top of the south. Service is always great, despite the fact they're practically always busy. Ive tried almost every burger and not one has let me down yet. They all taste amazing. Their sides are also wonderful. Definitely coming back here, not to mention the tables are always kept nice and tidy, available for the next customer. Also the atmosphere is quite nice, keep up the great work guys and gals :)

We went to Burger Culture last night at request of Birthday Girl on her 12th Birthday. Amy served us and was 100% amazing and made the whole night magical. It was full when we arrived so we grabbed drinks and waited, and she arranged a booth for us when the next one became available. The food was brilliant, birthday girl got bonus extras and at the end we even got a birthday donut with candles. Nothing was a problem and Amy and the team went out of their way to make it special. Huge selection for vegetarians and heaps of choices to swap things in and out. We love going there and will be going back again soon for birthday boy turning 5 as this is now his request as well. Very reasonably priced and delicious. Super recommended!!!!

Busy, busy, busy! But what a vibe! As we entered we had been pre-warned of a 40 minute wait. Our first time, but we chose to wait. Excellent choice, your honour! Then we were happy to be told that the waiting time was down to 30 minutes. The food eventually arrived after 50 minutes, bit it was the service before that that was outstanding! More than one wait person came up to us to apologise for the wait. We were given complimentary food and drink. This place deserves to be rated number One in New Zealand!

Not sure if the burgers we ordered were just not our style but neither my partner nor myself loved our food and the truffle covered chips were so overpowering it made us both feel sick. However the atmosphere was good and everyone seemed to love their food so I assume it was just us ans staff were really lovely.

We ordered from home with the delivery app. Order arrived promptly. Burgers and all food were tasty and awesome. What my son and I were most impressed with was the takeaway order contained no plastic! All paper and cardboard, very impressed with this. Keep up the good work

Burger Culture is a great place for a meal and a few drinks. The food is outstanding, with well constructed burgers and a robust range of flavors and styles. The service is excellent, Burger Culture's staff are down to earth, friendly, and professional. It is situated in the centre of Nelson, and I would note many times Burger Culture is one of the few places in Nelson that has a good vibe going all week long. Keep up the good work!

Great burgers, pricing is a little steep though considering size of burgers. Would be nice to see more offerings for those that a gluten AND dairy free, appreciate you have buns for each but not both. (Eg a vege made bun or bun free option)

Went for lunch in Spring. It was packed. Our order came promptly and the burgers were pretty well priced for what they are. The burgers were made of great material but didn't stand out for us. My beef patty was pretty salty. They have plenty of table seating and bar stools. The onion rings were just great and the popcorn cauliflower was nice too. It got pretty noisy in there.

I have had several really good meals at Burger Culture. Those of which are usually pretty damn good, although the batter is sometimes a bit over done, I never walk out disappointed

Great relaxed atmosphere. Burgers are flexible for dietary requirements (2 vegetarian options). Was a nice burger but not my favorite (sort of like a very fancy fast food burger - too much mayo and stuff for me), also had the onion rings (bit on the oily side) and fries (the fries were quite nice).

This review is for both my wife and I. I found the burgers a bit salty but good, and well cooked. My wife found them to be too salty, to the point where she couldn’t enjoy them. So maybe a good place to come with the boys for a burger and beer, but maybe don’t bring your grandma with congestive heart failure.

I've never had a black bun burger before, but it was actually good. I ordered the Ranching On The Ceiling burger with a side of Onion Rings. Well worth the price. Their hot wings are also good. Next time I'm not going to be a wuss and order the 10 hot wings instead of the 5 hot wings with chilli beef fries and onion rings. I would also add that these guys have Online Ordering. It makes things much easier. Works really well. The only thing I would add is a comment section. Just in case there an extra request that needed to be made.

Probably the best burgers I've ever had. Curly fries are flippin' mean, and the decor spoke deeply to my soul as a millennial. The $2 Lollie bags hit the spot as an appetizer, I highly recommend this place.

Truffle shuffle was great maybe could use a little seasoning on the burger patty itself but the truffle sauce was delicious, the truffle and cheese fries were yum! I have tried the plain fries from here too and they are good quality good job guys!

I loved their sake list as well. We quickly emptied the bottle of sake I brought, and needed another one, but I was worried if what they had wasn't as good as my sake because I knew that would ruin my mood. The restaurant carried quality sake and I was very happy about it. Also, they served sake with a flask that was made of bamboo, and I loved it.

Had Raspberry pistachio cheesecake donut, and it was devine! Highly impressed ❤️

Had the Baby got Black beef burger and it was comfortably in the top 3 burgers I've ever had. Side salad and fries were ok but far from inspired, but this is probably why most of the fries are loaded. Still gets 5 stars from me because I didn't go for the salad or fries... And the burger was enough for a meal without me really bothering with the fries anyway.

We've been twice for lunch. The hype the built was followed by being almost packed out each time we walk by and the presentation of food and overall look is great. However the burgers are too small for the prices charged, and the descriptions look great but in reality are not memorable. Last time I got the fish burger with wasabi mayo and even that didn't make an impression. Sides are fine, we found one chips of onion rings is enough for both of us. I also had one of their monster shakes that was quite cool. We gave it a go twice but don't think we'll go again - it's just not worth the amount of money they're charging to me unfortunately.

Went on busy Sunday afternoon. Was very underwhelmed. Burgers were good but very over priced. They were very small. Chips were a rip off for 5 bucks. No wings in stock. Only chocolate milkshakes available. Got the feeling they were running out of produce. The onion rings were not great. Very friendly helpful staff and service was quick despite it being very busy. Woupd give more stars if the portions were a bit bigger.

Awesome burgers and beers! Highly recommend the tasting board so you can try four varieties of Hop Foundation's beers, which is a local brewery. Staff is super friendly and attentive, I will definitely come again in a future visit to Nelson!

Our 'go-to' place with the kids. Pretty consistent burgers, good milkshakes and doughnuts. Not huge burgers for the gluttons among us, but add an extra patty and a side of mac'n'cheese and wash it down with a tasty pint of Hop Federation ale, while kids amuse themselves on the arcade machine. Recommended.

Burger culture is literally the best burger place in the world. We are from the US and we’ve been to a lot of burger joints, and burger culture tops them all. The Run BMC and Dirty Fryana were family favorites. The kids also loved the spiders. Great beer selection too.

Went yesterday for the 1st time. We had 2 burgers fries & slaw. We found it all abit under seasoned! Lacking in salt. Sides were also on the small side for $5 a pop! Great atmosphere though and friendly service.

Best burgers around!!! Never disappoints, great selection of burgers for meat lovers as well as a decent selection for vegans and vegetarians (the beyond meat patties, jackfruit burgers and tofu burgers). There is also a fish burger for the pescatarians. The curly fries with truffle salt is an absolute winner. We often order take ways from burger culture but also thoroughly enjoy going to the restaurant itself. Friendly staff and vibrant atmosphere, place is a must go!

We came in for dinner and really enjoyed the food and service. However I cannot give you five stars as the experience was marred by being engulfed in cigarette smoke from a neighbouring table. Have you considered making you out door dining area smoke free? I think you have a great family resturant that could be outstanding if you were smoke free.

Burgers not only had unusual and interesting (and yummy!) flavours but also had clever names like "Morning Dory" and "Sataying Alive". Service was also quite good. Our server, Laura, was confident in giving suggestions when we asked her for advice on what to order. She also called us a cab to take us back to our motel. Great vibe + great food + great service = unbeatable combination :)

Pretty good burger but a quite disappointing that we were charged an extra $4 for the beyond meat patty and $2 for vegan burger bun, whilst removing the cheese didn’t reduce the price. Would be good to see a fully vegan burger at the same price as the other burgers in 2020.

Great range of burgers filled with real fresh ingredients and quality meats. I like their fried chicken which is boneless and skinless.

First of all it's not often you go to a place and 10 wings means ten FULL wings. We were amazed at the size of this plate alone. And my girlfriend is North American! The quinoa and vegetables salad was a great accompaniment to the wings, and for all that, lest than a twenty. The Baby Got Black burger was perfect in every sense. I haven't had something that well made in a long time in NZ. The cheese fries, and Red IPA beer, went well with the truffle mayo. If you're into cocktails they also whip up a damn mean mix here too! Top that off with awesome attentive, and happy staff, you've got the perfect spot for a feed!

Despite being super slammed they got our take-away order done quickly and efficiently, with vegans, vegetarians and meat eaters in the family it is great to be able to go to somewhere that takes pride in being able to provide something yummy for everyone... no compromise in quality for any of us.

Our third visit and its always been fantastic. We were in Queenstown a couple of weeks ago and Burger Culture is way better than a Ferg burger. Got to try the cheese and jalapeno fries.

Damn, Damn, Damn!!!!!!!! From the heavens above comes Burger Culture. So good I went back the next night for round two. I'm not racist, (usually followed up by a racist comment). But, a black burger bun didn't appeal the first time, but I really couldn't pass it up the second (Glad I didn't, it's actually really nice). The milkshakes are next level. They'll make you raise the MF roof. Staff are friendly... Easy on the eyes as well... But we're not talking about them. Service was quick, I can't fault that. I like how you can sit at the bar and look into kitchen - Flames tickle your nostrals. Do yourself (not your waistline) A favour and hit this Burger joint.. I swear you won't regret it!

Good burgers 2.5 stars not as good as burger fuel 1 additional star for being able to have alcohol. And a half additional star for being able to customize and add to burger and good onion rings. Yes this is 4 stars, but minus 1 star for annoying loud kids behind us.

Barely any seats so had to sit infront of the kitchen it was pretty uncomfortable and a bit slow to bring out food but definitely worth the wait, amazing flavors and combinations. Love the wings and milkshakes!

Excellent. I always buy a cheeseburger when I go to burger joints, if they can't do that properly then they're no good. THIS place cooks the burger properly, still juicy and pink with all the flavour still in it, not cooked out of it. Delicious bun which was warm but still soft and not over powering.
