This place is not just one of the greatest watering holes. The service was amazing - food was massive and tasted delicious 🤤. Will be back for sure 👌🏾

Food was good. I ordered pork belly and when the waitress came back and told me it was not available. I was disappointed that they were not complying with the covid health orders. They were not checking vaccine passes and not many people wearing masks as they entered the premises.

Credit where it's due, the steak was good. I don't normally rate down but a few points of feedback for the owner/manager. 1. There were multiple names on the building and we weren't sure where the restaurant was and nearly left because the front part didn't have signage over the entry and looked like a sports bar. 2. Nelson is famous for its beer and yet, there was no local beer on tap, or the menu that I saw. Disappointed. 3. Was told there was a 45 min wait so ordered a starter. 15 min later the mains arrived. We cancelled the starter. 4. No steak knife was supplied with the steak meal and I had to go in search of one. 5. The portion of sautéed vegetables was very small. 6. The New Street Chicken Salad was like a bowl of spinach with cold chicken, 2 small florets of almost raw broccoli and one small small floret of roasted cauliflower. Sorry chef it was underwhelming.

Was at the steakhouse with a party of 6. All of us had different meals. Each meal was delicious and huge portions, even the ones ordered off the starter menu. The waiter was very attentive and polite. Definitely recommend to eat here.

I had a 200g Angus rib eye with chips and mash and I have to say best food I've had ever. Steak was done perfectly and went well with garlic mash and chips. Will definitely recommend to others and will be returning again. Best food and service I've had in a while

I dont usually write reviews but when credit is due...group of us booked dinner here for birthday this week. The food was beautiful everyone all enjoyed what they ordered. The service was above and beyond..all staff making us feel so welcome. A special thanks to the lady i didnt get her name for even helping and preparing the cake to come out. We all had a great time and the staff made it that little bit extra special. Will be back again and reccommending to all... thanks so much. Diff the best steaks in town

The best steakhouse in Nelson, we all meat eaters and really enjoy different tastes of meat. They were really huge, so I would recommend girls choose smaller portion less than 250gram. They were all mouthful anyway.. The mushroom sause is amazing too, the pork belly went with Apple Puree, quite different.

A spacious sports style bar and grill. Several areas within the bar, including a covered outdoor area and separated spaces for group functions. Friendly attentive service and good food. A great venue to watch rugby etc.

Its so lovely walking into a place and being greeted with such genuine warmth, its even better when the food is delicious. Our entrees were awesome! Beautifully cooked pork and apple sliders in soft steamed buns were the highlight of my week so far. Great timing between meals and our waiter, Tom, checked in during each course to make sure everything was mint. Mains were impeccably presented, all seafood was treated with the respect it deserved and we left just about bursting at the seems. High five team!

This really should be 4.5 stars if Google permitted such score to be submitted. Staff is exceptionally friendly and accommodating. They went out of their way to offer an alternative kids meal when we were planning to order a full sized fish of the day for the little one (didn't want him eating deep fried fish from the kids menu just yet)!! Very generous of them!! Other than that, the other meal servings were incredibly generous and to our liking. Would definitely visit again if we come back to visit NZ again. Unfortunately, the only thing keeping me from giving full marks is the way my steak came out. I ordered the flintstone (pretty much a 500g rib-eye with a slightly longer frenched bone but not nearly as long as a tomahawk) cooked medium. It came out medium rare at the edges, rare at the centre, and blue as you got closer towards the bone. I still finished it and it was still a fantastic steak, but this cut is wasted when cooked medium rare and below. Reason being, the connective tissue of the rib steak along with the fat within the meat does not render down until about medium, resulting in some very chewy sinew. Medium rare or lower, in my honest opinion, should only be recommended for leaner cuts of meat and/or where the fat is along the outside edges, where you can sear it with the pan or go at it with a blowtorch like I do. Examples include fillet steak, rump steak t-bone, and striploin (but NOT the part where the striploin meets the rump, as there is a connective tissue as well). Keep it up and don't take it too personally, guys! For what it's worth, there is only one place out of many I've been to so far that has EVER cooked my steak perfectly (besides myself), so I know it isn't easy. I'm betting that when everyone literally orders medium rare, it's sometimes a bit hard to deviate from the norm.
