Came in for the $12.99 lunch. Rice and meat/sauce were delicious but the naan was crispy/crunchy and broke/ flaked when bent. Kids were happy and loved the smoothie. The place is much bigger inside than it looks. Friendly staff and nice atmosphere. Represents good value with a main, rice, 1/2 naan and soft drink Would have been a 5 star review with a softer less cooked naan.

Definitely my favourite Indian Restaurant in Nelson. My personal favourites are the Lamb Saagwala, Chicken Madras and Goat Curry. Awesome service and always top food!

Had a butter chicken and my wife had mango chicken. Both were very sweet. I couldn't finish mine due to the sugar but wasn't too bad in the mango chicken. Staff were friendly and the restaurant is tidy. Only reason I won't be back is the sweetness of the food that disguises all the flavours it should have.

Phone order process went smoothly but we were told 20 minutes, duly arrived to be told another 12 mins which turned into another 20, so we should hv been told at least 40mins at order. Was rather disappointed with the food with the mild not so mild but did like the price and surrounding were nice & appeared clean. Hoping this was a rare off night.

My partner was craving for some spicy Indian meal last night and I remembered his cousin mentioning about Taaj so I asked if we can try it, it was indeed a good find but there was an error in our orders like my papadoms became chicken tikka appetiser(big serving!) which is nice but i still want my papadoms. Their onion Bhaji's were crispy and yummy. My mistake was I didnt chase my papadoms order been busy eating the onion bhajis! Chicken Tikka Masala average and we just ate Chicken Tikka for appetiser! Biryani w/ mutton was nice . Nothing spectacular about the dishes but they are better than average. The servings are big that our main meals ended up being takeaways and they packed it nicely. I will recommend the place for a nice meal out just ask them to read your orders again.

I have not had the pleasure of dining in as such , but the take away service deserves a 5 star rating . The food deserves a Michelin star by any of my measure . On a serious note . I have been here several times in the last four weeks and not once have I been disappointed . Generous portions for takeaway made to your heat preference and excellent friendly service . This has got to be my favourite go to place in Nelson .

Excellent food at reasonable prices. I go there often and some of the dishes are just great, my favorite is the Vindaloo which can be ordered not too hot. I give it 5 stars because most of the food there is really good. Sometimes the quality is not consistent which can be disappointing, maybe they can improve that. Service is sometimes slow depending on who is working that night, that can also be improved on. But overall I am very happy with that restaurant. They have Stoke beer on tap now as well, another plus.

Hi, we had ordered vegetarian food for 30people for our Diwali Function. Food was delicious and specially Dal Makhani was superb. Kadai Paneer was also lovely. Got home and found that they had forgot a butter chicken from my order, rang them up and after asking me what my order was they straight away said, yeah sure come back now or would you prefer a voucher? I said I'll come back now, they said it would be ready by the time I got there, I arrive and there was a container of rice and papadoms as an apology. Always order butter chicken - sometimes it’s tomatoey, sometimes creamy, sometimes runny and sometimes thick. They have got my order wrong twice. Had an amazing meal there with my friend the ordering felt a lot like a takeaways place but once I pointed out that we wanted to dine in pay an extra six dollars we sat at our table and the waitress poured us water. Not many vegetarian options in lunch menu. Our order all over was OK although almost not spicy when we asked for medium. Very disappointed with small portions, the amount of carry was usual, but naan and rice was a single portion splitted with two of us. I never before left Indian restaurant so hungry.

Hands down the best Indian resraurant ive been in the south Island. We stayed in nelson for 3nights and had Indian 2nights causebit was so good. We will definately be back the staff are really welcoming and nice! Price friendly.
