Reviews of Arranged Marriage Restaurant
Superb service, great food, nice price, the best vegan curry.
We had the deep fried Cauliflower 65 as a starter, the perfect slight crunch of cauliflower contrasted by the crunchy batter, lovely sticky tamarind sauce.
The channa masala was rich and hot was just the right level of hot, most excellent.
They are licences to serve alcohol too, if you like that kind of thing. They also have a cheaper lunch menu, but it’s already cheap enough.
Best Restaurant in New Plymouth. Had lunch and dinner from the restaurant.
My 2 weeks stay was fantastic. Good food is good mode.
Must try duck masala, beef coconut, all comes with huge portions.
Food and Service is amazing highly recommended.
Keep the good work team Arranged marriage.
The staff were kind enough to let us in despite the timing. We loved the dishes. The staff was kind and helpful. The fish polichatthu was the best item.
Awesome restaurant with a good variety of vegan options. Prices were fair, portion sizes are good. Most dishes include rice on the side which is nice, but make sure you have enough for everyone if you are sharing dishes. The soy dish was great.
Absolutely love this Indian restaurant! If you're into Indian cuisine, this spot is a must-try. Portions are huge, flavors are fantastic, and the staff is super friendly. They even surprised me with an incredible spicy sauce knowing I love heat! Definitely coming back for more of their delicious dishes!
WOW. Just WOW. This was hands down one of the best Indian restaurants I have had. The service was good, but the food was even better. When we went it was late for dinner, it was busy when we got there but then died down pretty soon after. It was such a lovely atmosphere! I would come back for sure.
This place was fantastic, delicious food, I had the beef with roasted coconut curry and it was great, spice level for hot was kiwi hot (go Indian hot if you want hot, I like spicy but sometimes risky while travelling for work). I eat at a lot of Indian places in NZ and this definitely ranks in the top few.
Absolutely delightful experience at this restaurant! The aromatic spices and rich flavours are amazing. The attentive staff and cozy ambiance added to the overall charm. A must-visit for anyone craving an authentic taste. You can’t fault a thing.
Had an early dinner with my wife at 5 pm. We had spinach pankora ad starter and one meatless curry and one beef curry. With a filled piece of bread, like a pancake. It was excellent. I drank a Good George beer with my meal. Can recommend.
Some of the best Indian food we've ever eaten - certainly the best fish curry (fish with green mango) - everything was delicious and the staff were awesome. It is very noisy in that space, but it's a very minor issue and worth it for the food. Super appreciate the use of te reo signage too. Will be coming every time we're in Ngāmotu New Plymouth
Went for lunch, I had the vegetable korma and my companion had a masala dosa. The korma was delicious, lots of veggies and came with rice and bread, great value at $16. I like a hint of heat but not too much so ordered mild, it was tasty but no heat so could have gone medium. I had a taste of the dosa and will be getting that next time, it was yum and came with different dipping sauces. The service was friendly and attentive and food came quickly which is great when on a lunch break. 4 stars for atmosphere because it was a little dark inside for the middle of the day. Will definitely be back.
Arranged Marriage restaurant is a true treasure for lovers of South Indian cuisine, particularly Kerala flavors.
The food here is simply outstanding, with each dish showcasing the authentic spices and flavors Kerala is famous for. A must-try is the Grilled Fish Wrapped in Banana Leaf, a Kerala classic that is perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection. The Chicken Biryani is aromatic and rich, while the Chef Special Chicken Served With Ghee Rice is a hearty dish that delivers comfort and flavor in every bite. Pair your meal with their Masala Tea, which is brewed to perfection and a perfect way to end your dining experience.
The friendly and attentive staff add to the charm of this place, making sure every customer feels welcome and well taken care of.
If you're in New Plymouth, Auckland, and looking to indulge in authentic Kerala flavors, Arranged Marriage restaurant is an absolute must-visit. An unforgettable culinary journey awaits!
Overall Fantastic experience! We had the Masala and the Paneer dosas, they were huge and incredible. We had the aubergine curry which had a rich & lovely savour flavour, we also had the coconut rice pancake which was fluffy and tasty. Would definitely recommend!
Absolutely recommend. Best dosa and paratha I've had outside of south India. Service was terrific too, extremely accommodating about dietary preferences. Will be sure to return when next visiting New Plymouth.
A night of drinks and food with friends on Saturday. They booked delicious Arranged Marriage NP, which we wanted to visit long time ago. We spotted Faizal Kamsan in the chef’s whites in the kitchen! And we noticed his influence on the menu too. The food was delicious and aromatic and so colourful. My chicken biriyani came in a pot covered with a dough blanket. It had a unique blend of spices and herbs. My companions ordered different types of curry including the goat one. Beautiful night, beautiful food, beautiful company.
Wow wee what an increadable tasting section of the most delicious food all cooked from scratch! You could tell how much the Chefs had worked the flavors & caramelized the sauces .
The staff were very attentive & gave a high level of communication as it was a very busy night as it was a Sunday . The restaurant was fill of locals thats says alot !
Our server Sabal was the best thank you for a very special evening 😊 we will be back real soon Xx Chere n Bill Bailey
A must for anyone who likes Indian food!
A great verity of dishes all served beautifully and all delicious!
Clean place, friendly service.
We came a big group and everyone was happy.
Went in a short break to New Plymouth.
Saw this restaurant in the city centre close to the warehouse store. Looked clean from outside so when in for a meal.
The waiting staff were very attentive and polite.
We could see the open kitchen was clean and food quality was above average.
Food cost is about $ 40 per person.
In fact, I'm not a person who leaves any reviews on food but I've got to say that this is the best Indian restaurant in my life. My favourite cuisine turned into Indian food after I tasted their dishes and I really got blown away when I first met these guys about 3 years ago. I had enjoyed so many Indian restaurants in Auckland but no one could beat them for sure. I bet you that you could have a decent and perfect Southern Indian taste here. You cannot say you've had a good Indian dish if you haven't tried this restaurant. I usually visit here at least several times a month and appreciate the fact that New Plymouth has a wonderful place to visit. Moreover, their taste keeps evolving and all my family members can tuck into it all the time. Last but not least, the price of lunch menus is quite reasonable and cheap compared to other restaurants nowadays. You will never regret your choice since I'm always over the moon at this restaurant.
We had a really great time here. The waiter was so friendly and helpful with his suggestions on spice levels! The beverage menu is nice too, offers some locally made beer which we enjoyed. Ambience is good, beautiful decorations and lighting, made for a good evening out. Most important, the food was outstanding. Everything came out hot, and huge! Very generous portions, and amazing flavours particularly to the dosa.
Great restaurant experience. Hope they can expand to Auckland one day!
Amazing food. We had the South Indian style Butter Chicken and Chicken Chettinad lunch special. You get rice and Kerala Paratha with the curry. Portion was a bit small but still great food. thanks
Had lunch yesterday at Thai restaurant. Their Parotta was delicious and they are made fresh. Excellent South Indian restaurant to visit in New Plymiuth
Good vibes, plenty of options. Chicken biryani taste good but the condiment comes with it is a bit over watery, Aubergine vege curry with thick sauce is also tasty, unfortunately (for me) the aubergine is cut into too small pieces and melted into the sauce, can't really feel the texture. Friendly service, certain items are slightly pricey.
Arrange marriage is the one of the best restaurants in New plymouth. They make one of my precious occasions awesome and grand. Thank you so much for the team.
Got to experience authentic Kerala sadya!!!! taking us back to Indian roots with Keralan delicacy. Thank you team for celebrating Oman with us with yummy food, thoroughly enjoyed it.
Welcoming and attentive staff as always. The menu has changed since we last visited and we had difficulty because there were so many interesting choices! We enjoyed a delicious mixed platter for 2 (the Grill option), then I had a rich creamy "fish moilee", and my partner had a an extremely tasty spicy "Jungle venison". The dishes were beautifully plated and had plenty of chunky meat in well-flavoured sauces. We also liked the tasty dosa and paratha bread. There is a good range of boutique ales that go especially well with the spicier dishes. If you're looking for something a bit more creative then Arranged Marriage NP is always a good choice 😁
Went there for dinner, greet by the waiter. Provide us water before ordering. The selection of foods heaps for southern indian cuisine. Authentic taste , price for value, good ambient and good customer service. A lot of local come here to drinks with friends or just have take away. Its looks like fine dining Restaurant but i wore casual on that night and it was fine. Would come back for sure.
Excellent south indian food, very flavourful and enjoyed every single dish. I wish they have a branch in Auckland - will visit again next time around NP
This was the best Indian Restaurant we have been so far in New Zealand. Very friendly staff and fast service, all fresh made. Original South Indian food, which was delicious. You can select the level of spicyness. A clear recommendation to go there if you like Indian kitchen.
We enjoyed everything. Food was good, kerala butter chicken was amazing, friendly staff and good service. Resturant is very clean and well presented, def recommend.
Amazing!!! The Duck Masala was a flavour explosion. This is a restaurant that always delivers a amazing meal, with fantastic staff and a great atmosphere.
Really great food! Wonderful meal, great attentive staff. Would definitely come back to try more dishes. Only lost a star due to not having the traditional Indian dishes but it sure made the evening interesting and opened our taste buds to other flavours
Great good as always. Coconut beef curry is the best!!
We got these guys to cater our office drinks. They came in and sorted everything. The food was incredible and the service was awesome.
Just shared a birthday dinner (Mine) with my husband at Kathakali. initially wanted to eat at Salt but they had no room til 8h30 & it would have easily cost in the $200 range.
Secondly, we though the Social kitchen - but they were fully booked.
We then remembered that we hadn't returned to Kathakali since over a year and the last time we were there the food was devine. So we rang and booked for two for 7h30.
Long story short... we couldnt have been more delighted with our choice. Excellent and rapid service!!
But THE FOOD.... OMGoodness.... Out of this world.
We ordered 3 starters that Immediately set the tone for the feast we were about to enjoy. Delicious and mouth watering flavours appealing to both the eye and the pallet. We finished with the Main, because we couldnt eat anymore and had to ask to package the rest for home.
Amazingly, it cost us less than $100.- !!! And it's a BYO!! So delicious wine at an affordable price.
This speaks volumes about this restaurant the quality of meal you will enjoy if you choose this place. We will certainly return to enjoy another meal very soon with friends. I'd give then ******6 Stars if it was on offer. 10/10 for sure!!
Friendly service from Shree Nair and his staff. Their dishes are definitively up on another level. The temperature of the dining area was just right. The staff were full of smiles and service. Great value. Delicious South Indian!
I (kiwi) liked the food and drink was good, especially the Fish Fry and Chicken 65. My South Indian wife thought the food was average, probably a little different tasting to what she's used to.
Atmosphere was nice and staff were quite responsive. Food took about 20 minutes to arrive to the table
We haven’t been since lock down but decided to go last night, lovely southern Indian food, well presented, well served and attention to hospitality. We give it our best rating AAA+ we will be back soon
Delicious traditional Indian food. We loved our meal this evening of eggplant and okra curry, and cauliflower and toor dahl. They accommodated to our vacation diet. A must visit when dining out in New Plymouth
One of the best restaurant in New Zealand. Delicious food, awesome ambience, great hospitality and super clean environment. Will definitely recommend it.
We went as a party of 5 for lunch on Saturday and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The front of house staff were so welcoming and could not have been nicer. The food was also very tasty and a good sized portion for lunch. Thank you so much. The finishing touch of a small birthday cake as an eightieth celebration was an unexpected surprise and also delicious
Went on the recommendation of a local and did not disappoint. Everything was delicious and the service was friendly and very helpful.
Best paratha I have had.
I must say, my recent dining experience at this Indian restaurant was truly exceptional. Not only were the prices reasonable, but the flavors of the goat Biriyani, dosa, and uttapam were simply exquisite. However, what truly stood out to me was the impeccable customer service provided by the staff. Jassi (if I could recall her name correctly, the hariyanwi girl) and Nikhil, in particular, went above and beyond in their kindness and friendliness towards us. I highly recommend this establishment for those seeking both delicious cuisine and top-notch hospitality.

Porotta, beef olathu and beef fry were all good.
Dosa was not sour, which was the only problem. Hence 1 star less. But amazing staff and customer service.
Nice not to heavy south Indian food with so many vegetarian options its hard to choose which is why we are going back tomorrow for more.
Delicious yummy 😋 food, having kerala food outside kerala after a long time. Keep it up
We really enjoyed our meal at Arranged Marriage. We love Indian food & the staff kindly described some dishes we'd not hears if before. The duck curry was delicious & a must-have. It went really well with our old favourite vegie korma. The portions were generous & overall good value for money.
Loved the masala dosas and chicken dosa we got. My friends first time having dosa and after she was asking me how to make it and what spices are used!
Excellent, cheerful service. Extensive range of dishes on the menu. Glad we took the recommendation of the masala dhosa. One of the rare places where the veggie/ vegan dishes were better than the meat ones.
Great south indian food with complimentary rice. Super busy in the weekend and reservation in advanced is a must!
Everything from drinks service, starters and mains were on point. Staff were very attentive and good spacing between courses. Flavours and presentation were outstanding. My favourite Panhead on the drinks list. The best NZ authentic South Indian cuisine I’ve experienced. Always consistent and great place to reliably entertain out of town guests. Thanks Arranged Marriage team, you made my daughter’s birthday special. Steve
