B.Most overrated place in the whole of New-Plymouth. Three stars are for the ambiance and the theme within the restaurant. Hospitality and the food is just below average, Portions are about the size of an ant., overpriced AF. Tried the food here on two various occasions and left disappointed ea time. Somehow they managed to pull off on the drinks!! O
M.What a beautiful restaurant in the heart of New Plymouth! The interior is authentic, colourful and sophisticated. Friendly service. Full of spice, delicious food! A bit pricey but worth it as their portions are very generous. Must visit if in New Plymouth.

W.We booked early and had the best service. The restaurant was literally our own for the first hour. We started with a specialty Scottish whiskey and a specialty gin, Indian the best I have ever had Our starters of mixed poppadums and chicken were not only pretty but superb followed by mains that were filling and perfection. My husband rated the butter chicken as the best he has ever eaten. My Lamb shank medium was spicy and was to the liking of my pallet, I especially loved the thick sauce infused with plump mushrooms and cauliflower which coated the rice and garlic and cheese nairn that accompanied, it was completely sublime. The surroundings at the Koi give an authentic feeling of being in an exotic setting. The music sets the mood. The service is efficient and caring without being intrusive. We shared a bottle of sauvignon which beautifully complimented our meal, our only regret was not leaving room for dessert.
Obviously we will definitely return and highly recommend. The best Indian food we have eaten in a long time.
K.Now re-branded as Koi, the original owners and chefs are back and transformed the place. The new decor is superb with amazing design features throughout.
The new Whiskey lounge is brilliant. We have had pre-show drinks here a few times now and we really enjoy the huge soft leather couches and the whiskey and craft beer range is really impressive. You can even buy your own locker here and then put a whiskey in it from the bar and come in and drink from it whenever you want. When it runs out, just buy another bottle from the bar and put it in your locker. It's an awesome way to have good whiskeys and the range is really impressive with whiskeys from all around the world, including a lovely one from India which I recommend.
I've always been a fan of the chefs here (and at their other restaurant India Today) and the food is a real highlight. The new menu has the usual favourites as well as some new recipes (I like the malay/indian fusion). The presentation is very good and the prices are so reasonable. I find the staff the best in New Plymouth too...very professional and attentive.
We are very lucky to have some really cool restaurants in New Plymouth, it always impresses our friends from out of town and Koi is right up there with the best.
G.This place has had a makeover recently. It has been done well with nice decor. The menu has been revamped with Indian dishes that appear more authentic than the standard fare such as Rogan Josh. Waiters attentive. Good selection of craft beers. There is a whisky menu. Didn't partake but seemed a reasonable selection. Certainly worth a try if you like this cuisine.
S.The chicken biryani is absolutely top notch. The food is absolutely fantastic. This is a great place and the whiskey lounge is lovely - if you really appreciate good Indian/Malaysian cusine - then it's worth a visit.
J.Fantastic and amazing food but I didn't give 5 stars because the service was not quite right. Some confusion over the courses. They were really helpful but we didn't get what we wanted at the right time. Tiny quibble really. The food was great. A good range of wine, some good craft beers and some excellent whiskies. Sat in the"lounge" now drinking an excellent Islay malt.

A.As a well-travelled person, I'm gonna say Koi took me on a journey. Especially now, that we are so travel restricted, what I search for when going on a dinner date with my fiancee, is to take me on a trip. Koi delivered it so well. The restaurant met my expectations atmosphere and quality-wise. Delicious full of Malaysian flavours food, beautiful space, excellent customer service - Best customer service I have experienced in New Plymouth. Well done!
I.We had a wonderful time dining here. The food was some of the best that we have eaten, with brillant attentive service on top. A good drinks selection with decent beer and very good wine.
We can't wait to come back and try more of the menu. We can't pick a favourite dish but you have to try the prawns!
The waiter even gave us a pot of some sauce we were raving about to take home - yum!
M.Five of us had a a great meal there, lamb shanks, prawns and chicken dishes.
All the dishes just the right spiciness and they brought out some yogurt for one of us.
The decor was nice and the staff were very attentive.
J.Another gem of a find. The Indian dishes we ordered were a delight to eat! My taste buds were dancing! The goat curry was delicious! Staff were extremely friendly and the ambience was lovely. The restaurant was full but our food was quick to arrive! Love the whisky bar and the cubbie holes with local folks favourite tipple behind the glass! The coriander oil was so good...they should bottle it and sell as I could dip bread or naan in that on a daily basis! We will be back!!

t.I rang up and tried to place a order from a different restaurants menu (by accident)
I didn't know at the time of ordering but I was insistent that I was reading the menu as I was trying to order items Koi didn't make.
And they were so bloody kind and friendly about it.
A few months later I am dinning in for dinner and the staff are once again fantastic.
Every time the food has been stunning, it must be my favorite restaurant in town without breaking the bank.
I would highly recommend.

p.I was just walking by this place in my way over to another restaurant and I saw that it was packed. When I saw the menu Thatcher was posted out side I thought, well hey... let's give Koi a go. So GLAD that I did! The best authentic Indian food in New Zealand! The service was fantastic and had one of the best atmospheres out of any restaurant I've been, to date. If your in New Plymouth this restaurant is a must. Absolutely recommend!
R.Customer service was very good but that's where it pretty much ended for myself. Food wasn't the greatest and to be honest it was a little overpriced. There are better Indian establishments in NP in my opinion.
j.Love Koi! Excellent food, service and decor. Seating is designed so you feel you aren’t on top of other diners. I have been three times in the last two months and every meal experience has been wonderful with no disappointments. Liquor selection is varied enough to match the menu. Service is very efficient and deftly carried out.
H.This isn't fair. We've been living down under for 10 years and it has been harder to find a good Indian restaurant. Now I find another excellent Indian restaurant in New Plymouth in two days. The wrinkle of craft beer with Indian food is a great idea and the strong beers complement the lovely food. Another great experience, I strongly recommend it.

G.Food was lovely. Make sure that if you want Indian strength heat in your food, that you say so. The contemporary atmosphere is great with quotes from Rudyard Kipling and Mark Twain, among many others, on their thoughts of India. The variety on the menu is refreshing

Try something from the the street food cart if you can. And ask questions of you're not sure about something, the waiters are super polite and happy to help!

My husband and I are big foodies but we don’t usually eat indian food out. However, the quality of food cooked at Koi Lounge is in line with Siddart. L.I am not generally into leaving reviews but I had such a fun night out. What a great place! Food was excellent, service was fantastic, would definitely recommend. It was ambient, and quite busy with an upbeat atmosphere. Over the night we were looked after by 3 or 4 different wait staff who were all very friendly and helpful, and felt really genuine in making sure we had a good night.
We had clay pot chicken and the sizzle plate to start - so good. The lamb cutlets on the sizzle plate really stood out for the flavour👌 Mains were lamb bhuna and beef rendang- both so good but the beef rendang is one of the best meals I’ve ever had. Paired with craft beer and mojitos made for a perfect night out!
We went with our two kids who aren’t big on trying new foods, but enjoyed a garlic naan and played on the park benches on the street front while we sat in the window seats.
Overall, an excellent dining experience. Would highly recommend!
P.Superb Indian cuisine with a mix of northern & southern Indian menu options.Staff are very friendly and genuinely want to make sure your dinning experience is a pleasurable one. It has a Whiskey bar with a large different selection of whiskeys on offer. Put this place on top of resturant list if in New Plymouth.

V.Best rendang we ever had (from the lunch menu)..sooo delicious! Portion of the Malaysian curry was way too small. For 16NZD we had a tiny bowl of curry and rice.Service was great, the waitress kept smiling and waving at our 1-year old. Decor is very nice with comfy seats and couches.
