A fine dining experience on the waterfront, great views and vibe. The staff were very professional and friendly. Ordered their duck leg and lamb,, and my goodness the duck was so juicy and tasty - if only there was a bit more! And then couldn't help but order some dessert and so glad I did - their Trio of Chocolate was.oh.so.divine!!!! Thanks for the great feeds!

Dining across the road from the waterfront in New Plymouth. Excellent service, decor and atmosphere. It's recommended to reserve a table, as it can be quite busy. Kid's menu available and price is reasonable. I would highly recommend this restaurant if visiting New Plymouth

Great restaurant. Nice food and staff is overwhelming. And the views are to die for.

Dishes here are works of art cooked by two handsome brothers, mains are beyond simple with fish, beef and pork options. They have an elaborate starter menu. And a stylish mains menu full of the crowds favourites and popular choices to revisit again and again. My fav today was pork belly and our entire lunch was a combo of surprises and the highest quality food.

Absolutely loved it, great service great food amazing environment

Awesome venue and a great atmosphere 👌 would have given 5 stars but the starters were a bit of a let down, the hand cut fries were not hand cut and the garlic bread hadn't been toasted very well so it was obvious the bread was a few days old. Not the end if the world and certainly hasn't not put me off, I will be back!

We just had a great dessert Zesty lemon Meringue.great presentation and an awesome combination of flavors. Last night we also had lovely popcorn prawns.

What an absolute gem of an evening! Not only was the food and wine divine, the service was spectacular! Britteny was our waitress for the evening and she made sure it was a night to remember. Our dad passed away recently and tonight would have been mum & dad's 60th Wedding anniversary. The staff put together a beautiful simple plate with a single candle. Such a kind sentiment that meant the world to us and made this a night to remember. It's the little things in life that make life worth living. Thank you to all the staff at Salt and especially to Britteny xxx

Fairly standard food, through I have to give this place credit for operating on Christmas Day.

Higher price, but the food and service is excellent, so one cannot complain - you get what you pay for, so to that end, no issue.

The food is beautifully prepared and presented. Service is great. We needed to book ahead but it a very busy time of the year for this region. Acoustics are not that good and conversation can be difficult when it's fully booked. Sea views from a lot of the tables

We had dinner here during level 2, was great to see a place taking level 2 seriously. As always the food was of the best quality and the service matched . Thanks to the team at Salt for helping make it a good birthday. we will definitely keep Salt at the top of our go to list in New Plymouth

Couldn't be better, wheres the 6th star??

What an amazing experience. Nothing was to much trouble as two of my friends had special food needs and they accommodated them beautifully. We ordered the 3 course meal and the 4 of us agreed that every course was so taste we have never had such a great eating experience. The waitress was knowledgeable and very attentive. I was so impressed I am taking my husband back on Monday for our 47th wedding anniversary. My finally words are wow, wow, wow.

Last night the food and services was outstanding. I'm vegan and I got to have 3 course was so good. I will be back again soon.

Great place with exceptional service every time I've been here. Amazing staff.

A wonderful evening meal for three. We had superb, attentive and thoughtful service and the food was beautifully presented and delicious. Drinks service was excellent too. The only hint ... don't press too hard to know why your guests are there? Not everyone goes for a meal to celebrate! (We were together because of a family bereavement and just wanted a quiet time to talk.) Top marks to Dylan for his amazing customer care.

Visiting from Wellington. Had not dined at Salt for quite some time. Was not disappointed. Interesting menu, covering everything you need, and nothing you don't. Our meals were beautifully presented and tasted amazing. The service from the moment we walked in the door until we left was top-notch. Friendly and attentive staff. Can't wait to go back.

We had a lovely evening at Salt. It was not our first meal there............and they have all been fantastic the setting is stunning. Lovely waterfront and city light views ..........summer evenings on the balcony or warm inside in winter. Service is friendly, prompt and professional with an interesting multi-national flavour. The menu has something for everyone. The produce used is fresh, top quality and well prepared to allow the individual flavors to shine. We particularly loved the shared seafood platter.......perfection. Great wine selection and knowledgeable recommendations Not the cheapest restaurant in town but so worth it. I can highly recommend this restaurant

So good, small menu but changes every so often. One of the best restaurants in New Plymouth for al fresco dinning in the late afternoon sun and overlooking the sea. Good quality food and great service staff.

I had dinner with 4 friends last night and the only way to describe it is ... exceptional! The food was amazing; the service was friendly and attentive and the atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming. We had entrees, mains and desserts - and nothing disappointed. We will be back. Thank you for a really great dining experience.

Fantastic meal with a really interesting menu. The waiting staff are attentive but not intrusive. There is a view out towards top sea which makes it a lovely place to eat. The wine and beer list have reasonable variety and there is a cocktail list as well.

They coped amazingly with a late reservation for a group of 9 people; the food was outstanding, with great presentation and flair. We chose the set menu, and the vegans were also thrilled with their selections. Front of house was welcoming and friendly, and the waitress equally so. Can't recommend highly enough

Beautiful meals friendly staff

The staff are very friendly and kind. My husband and I had the 5 course tasting menu with matching wines. The food was very delicious and well presented. We were hosted by Inder who was very accommodating and well informed of the wines. I look forward to another visit to New Plymouth so we can dine here again.

I had pork belly for entree very good and the steak for main was very very good my partner had the prawns for entree very good chicken for main was good the deserts were a bit of a let down lemon meringue was deconstructed and a very small serving bread and butter pudding was good but very chocolaty overall good entrees and main but desert needs a bit more work to be as good as our other meals

We loved our dinner at Salt last night! The waitresses were helpful, friendly and accommodating for our needs. It's not easy to find truly tasty food that's a gluten and dairy free but Salt certainly delivered. Thanks for a great experience.

Amazing food, friendly staff and great decor. I had the 5 course surprise cuisine meal as they ran out of eye fillet which was a major dissapointment. Most high end restaurants would offer a free drink or 2 for the inconvenience but nothing offered at all which itself was also dissapointing. Can't say I'd return but still giving them a 3 for the amazing food and friendly staff. Would have given them a 5 if they had eye fillet or compensated for the inconvenience of not having the eye fillet .

Had the five course taster menu tonight and left in a food coma! It was beautiful, delicious, and so much fun having one surprise after another. I could live off of the beef tartare and cardamom panna cotta! I can't wait to do it again. Add the service of a wonderful staff and a seaside sunset with cotton candy clouds, it was a night to remember. Don't go if you're in a rush. This food is meant to take time and be enjoyed. Not a place for kids but definitely a perfect spot for date night, business dinner, or just to spoil yourself.

Awesome place. We often go to the salt restaurant when we have visitors and we have never been disappointed. The vatiety of food is great, the service is excellent, down-to-earth and friendly and the food is lovely. I will recommend it anytime.

I am in heaven after enjoying the 5 course meals with matching wines at the Salt Restaurant. The food was delicious and perfectly matched to the wine. As a non wine drinker I was pleasantly surprised how the meals were so well complimented. I was also amazed that my favourite meal was mussels with pumpkin "porridge", I dont even like mussels! The dry reisling complimented the soft pumpkin and mussels which in turn contrasted with the crunch of pumpkin seeds and thinly sliced raw cauliflower. Goodness I will have to detour to New Plymouth more often just to try out these meals which are said to change each week. Compliments to the Chefs and thank you Brittany, Dylan and Luke for your service and information.

Tried again and the entree was good but venison carpaccio needs at least a couple more pieces on the plate - it is appropriately wafer thin but needs more wafers! The duck main was simply their stock purées and sauces on a plate with plain cooked vegetables popped on top. There was no consideration of making the duck fabulous. Asian greens had a lot of broccoli - given how many fabulous greens you would typically find in Korean, Chinese, Thai, etc etc cuisine, broccoli (the NZ go-to green vegetable) was very disappointing. Food was correctly cooked.

It was located in the most beautiful view of the New Plymouth sea. You can just drink coffee or eat together.
