Awesome place with a good vibe for some food and drinks. Wasn’t too keen on the cocktail as it just tasted like mango juice.

Pretty cool spot. High ceilings with ambient light. Fire place. Great food and quick service. Cocktails are just ok but other drinks and food were great.

Perfect service here, staff are really friendly and helpful with menu choices. I was only here for cocktails, so I can't speak to the food here but the open kitchen looks amazing, and the food on the menu looks good for share plates with 2 or 3 people snacking, great for chats. Cocktails are fantastic here, table service for drinks and the person serving our drinks was super helpful in suggesting cocktails based on my tastes, I said I like sweet tart and he nailed it twice in a row. 100% will be going here again, and I think you should too.

Super yum cocktails and amazing wait staff. They actually care about vegetarians. Great selection. Great location and ambience. Amazing outdoor area with plants. Book if you can. Omg try the chocolate martini 🤤🤤🤤

We reserved a table and thought we'd be sitting inside. But it so busy on a Friday night we ended up sitting on bar chairs in the very busy shared catering area. The music was blaring but we could still chat. The waiters and waitresses were very attentive and service was good. We didn't wait long for our order. The crisply fried shrimps and crab were delicious. My favourite was the broccoli and kumara balls. We eventually got a table inside and we ordered dumplings. They were rather salty for our taste but the rest of our food was yum. We both loved the atmosphere of the place especially once we were inside.

This place has tasty food, creative cocktails and beverages, smiling staff, an excellent atmosphere, elegant decor and a warm friendly feeling. We were happy with the prices for our experience and we enjoyed our visit. A quiet setting for conversation.

The bar staff were amazing and friendly. However we were constantly pressured to buy food. The waiter (a girl who could hardly smile at us) came and asked us to order food 6 times within the first hour of arriving. We were looking to relax and enjoy a drink not be badgered constantly about food. We did eventually order food which was very good, except they then tried to charge us twice for some of the dishes.

Definitely above average. Quality food and over a few visits we have had great staff who pay attention to things like food allergies. One warning - if you book online they will take no notice of the area you choose to sit in. If you wish to sit somewhere in particular phone them and get assurance that it will happen.

Went on a Monday evening, very quiet and relaxing, just what I needed. Served great tasting Japanese food, all are small side dishes. Inside décor was nice, old with a slight modern twist, a very comfortable environment.

Awesome vibe, fantastic service, and delicious food. Definitely on the pricier side but well worth it. Dessert wise the matcha spring rolls and the almond yuzu custard are incredible. It's lucky I don't live here or this place might make me broke 😂

Flavours in the Sashimi were amazing! Had a hot sake which was delicious. Staff were really friendly and even though it was busy the food still can out pretty quickly, great atmosphere!

Snug lounge is true to it's name. Deservingly snug, especially the red room with velvet seating and toasty fire going. Great view of the gallery through the windows. Thoroughly enjoyed our mulled wine on a cold night.

I'm totally biased. Snug lounge has yummy tapas and Ms White has delicious craft beer. Can't go wrong. Veggie options, great for snack or whole meal. Gourmet kai at great value prices.

The place has a lovely vibe. We had gone there a bit early around 5 PM and the place was already getting busy. Try taking a seat inside the conservatory kind of a room. They even have a cute fireplace. Loved the small share plates, the husband and I were pretty hungry so we tried quite a few things and all of them were yum. But the best part was the cocktails! I had 2, Expresso martini & double shot. They were amazing. The staff was very friendly, but as it for busy, it took a bit of waving around to get their attention. All in all a great place to hang out. Next time we are in New Plymouth, definitely going back.

Great food, however for the style of dining that this place caters too (several plates of small dishes) bigger tables are a must. I reserved a table for 4 people on a Monday night, expecting a table big enough for just that and barely could fit two people plus the meals. Ended up putting half our things on a different table, which the waiters saw and knew our issue for. Please sort this, I'd love to return and know I can order what I please as it is a lovely place

Teriyaki Chicken, Pork Steamed Buns & Mushroom Tempura was all excellent as was the service. Prawn Dumplings, Wagu Beef and complicated cocktail menu was a big disappointment. Tuna Sashimi unavailable. Overall we would go back, but suggest that Wagu Beef dish gets an immediate upgrade amd maybe stick to Vodka and Whisky Sours and more seafood dishes.

Service was very good and the food was tasty. We sat in the shared atrium space and drank wines from Itch Wine Bar with our vege & mushroom dumplings, ginger & kumara balls, crumbed squid rings and green salad from Snug Lounge. One point off for not informing me the peas would be replaced with beans - but that's all i can pick on. Staff were very professional and seemed to work in with Itch, clearing their wine glasses etc. I would recommend Snug Lounge as a really good experience.

Lovely atmosphere and beautiful dining experience. Sevice was a little slow but reasonably friendly staff. Food was delicious and great to share but still sad they no longer offer something like the "CHOW DOWN" anymore as that was a fantastic way to share and sample their menu.

Food is always good, drinks interesting and the vibe is excellent. (March 2020). I wrote the review above three years ago but I am afraid the last time I visited Snug Lounge (last week) I was very disappointed. I've always taken my out of town visitors there as it is always reliable so I took my family members there again. It was the first night of a new menu - the flavours at Snug Lounge have always been well-balanced and subtle - but this new menu seems to have lost all that. My favourite - the kumara and ginger balls now have a massive amount of ginger in them, the broccoli and spinach dishes were overloaded with miso and were so salty they were almost inedible. In addition many of the dishes seemed to have doubled in size - completely unnecessary as the whole point of tapas dishes is that they are small. The bright spot of the evening was the service which was excellent as always. However because of the food I would hesitate to go back.

We held our 2018 Conference in New Plymouth last week and a 60 strong group of us enjoyed an evening of food and beverages at The Snug Lounge. The food was really really good and plentiful. Also definitely worth a mention was the great service - as one of the organisers, I was kept informed all evening as to how many platters were to come and how the bar tab was progressing. Great cocktails and atmosphere! Staff were really nice and welcoming as well. The only draw back for me was how hot it was inside! Would have loved to relax on the comfy chairs but I was sweating too much to do so.

Brilliant little japanese bar providing great food. They have fantastic options to cover a wide range of foods, and the menu is designed very well for groups as well as individuals/couples. The tables are well spaced and the semi-outdoor area is shared with lots of restaurants creating a unique communal feel. Highly recommended.
