What a gem! We had the Shrimp fettuccine and roast chicken pasta, both lip-smacking delicious. The shrimp fettuccine broth in particular was so flavourful. We were offered some complimentary Rosemary focaccia which was amazing! Staff was very friendly, awesome service! Great selection of gelatos too, will be trying some on our next visit.

Nice little restaurant on the main road. Very happy with the food and hospitality! We had the raw fish for entree, the king fish was so tender! I had fettuccine prawn served with garlic and chili. It’s incredible!!! The handmade pasta was sooo yummy with the garlic flavor. I love hot&spicy food so the chili was the cherry on top! I finish the pasta within 10min, the portion can be bigger coz I can definitely eat more! P.S: most of the time I couldn’t finish my dish and I will get a doggy bag for the next day…Overall highly recommended! Will definitely come back;-)

I was visiting New Plymouth for the weekend and was dragged here by a friend who wouldn't stop going on and on about how amazing this place was during the entire 5 hour drive from Auckland. State Pasta definitely did not disappoint us and it not only lived up to its reputation but has also created a new obsession for me - we ended up going there 3 times in as many days because we simply had to try as many items as we could from their menu! The staff were super friendly and efficient and the pasta makes you give up all sense of moderation and resign yourself to ordering what could only be described as an obscene amount of food for one person to consume. The next time we are back in New Plymouth you can be rest assured we will be working our way through the rest of the menu...!

Nice, Good service, great food. Good COVID-19 practices. Bathrooms clean and tidy. We had gone about 4-30ish. If you want to go for dinner at a later time, best book.

What can I say... The place was just perfect... I ordered a Carbonara and it was full of flavor...seasoned perfectly and the portion size was just right (extra cheese and bread when asked)... I'd recommend anyone to try their Lemon Lime and bitters...that thing was wow... The overall ambience was calm ...and the service was amazing.

Delicious food & great service. The home made foccacia was beautiful with tomato, basil, shallots and olive oil toppings. Pasta cooked to perfection with the most flavorful sauce. Yum!

We really enjoyed our dinner. The roast chicken ravioli with sage butter was delicious, as was the rocket salad, prosciutto and focaccia bread. Kids pasta and gelato was also good. The Christmas pudding gelato is quite nice, even if you don't like Christmas pudding.

We stumbled across this place whilst driving past on route to another restaurant for dinner, ha! My husband and I (& our daughter) have a big soft spot for pasta! This place did not disappoint AT ALL! We lived in Auckland for many years and this place beats all pasta we’d ever had when eating out. Service was outstanding & they had a lovely kids menu. Our daughter loved selecting her gelato from the cabinet. Thanks State Pasta - we will definitely be back!

Outstanding service, the waiter was really friendly and helpful when choosing our dinner and dessert. The food was delicious entrees were unique and the gelato sandwich was amazing! Food was brought out super quick. Would definitely recommend.

The prawn fettuccine was the best i have had and the pawns melted in my mouth. The broth was perfectly. The tiramisu was the best i have had and not drowned in cream. The service here was excellent.

Food was amazingly good. Oricheitte with pork and fennel was not quite what I was expecting. Thought it would be more pasta like instead it was more soup like, but made a better pairing with the focaccia that came with.

Oh wow! Where to start. We had a eventful day travelling down from Auckland. Outside Otorohanga, a car fishtailed on a slippery corner. It looked like he was going to come right for us. I braked hard and he over-corrected and slid off the road and into a 3-4m ditch. As he slid the car struck a tree stump and was catapulted into the air, flipping over and the wheel that took the impact ripped off flying about 10-12m into the air. The car landed on its roof. We pulled over and as l got to the side of the road three people crawled out of the vehicle with minor scratches. We waited in the rain for the emergency services. We continued our trip and on arrival in New Plymouth we looked around the place a bit. By 8 pm we were ready for a meal. A quick search showed that many eateries were not open and the ones who were closed at 9pm. We saw State Pasta closed a little later. We made our way there and that was the definition of serendipity! The food was superb. The portions were not huge by any measure but the flavours were out of this world. So much so that my one daughter said that we need to only eat at State Pasta while we are in town. I totally agree with her. So if you were looking for quality food that is really tasty, State Pasta is my suggestion! We didn't have some of there Gelato but plan to go back later today. Hope to see you there.

The pasta here is great! My partner got the ravioli which tasted very handmade and was truly delicious! This chili fettuccini with prawns was also very good- the prawns did taste previously frozen but still so good! Their homemade ricotta appetizer with focaccia bread was a fantastic starter as well. Would love to come back!

Very authentic Italian. Excellent pasta and breads made in-house. Reminded us of our travels thru Italy several years ago. Definitely coming back for more. We were bummed we missed out on the porchetta... but hey, we now got a reason to visit New Plymouth again in the near future! Postscript: We went back the next evening for the lasagna and porchetta. Absolutely yummy! We will be back the next time we visit New Plymouth.

Delicious pasta and entrees. Focaccia was great for dipping in the pasta sauces but it would be nice if some olive oil/balsamic was offered to go with it too. Gelato can't really compare to Cafe Eis but it was okay.

Delicious, fast, efficient and friendly staff. The prices are very fair, not giant serves but good size. Lots of flavour! Their dishes are very well suited matches between the fresh pasta style and sauce made to match.

Pleasantly surprised by this awesome little gem. Fast service, able to fit us in as a walk in even though it was mostly booked. Sharing plates just the right size with delicious pastas. Great aesthetic use of shipping containers allowing you to see the chefs at work. 10/10 would recommend for a cool experience and tastey food! Also enjoyed their choice of music.

Firstly the food was excellent, starters, mains and deserts all really good. Unfortunately the service was average at best, no personality we always felt we were being rushed despite the restaurant being almost empty... Cans, plates and empty glasses left on the table, halfway through our mains and asked if we were done... Not a relaxing environment created here, why rush patrons out when they are there to spend money? Comon guys we want to support local..!!

Seems like you guys actually read and take reviews seriously so here’s my two cents: Food and drink: fantastic, delicious, no complaints. Service: manager was nice but the rest of the wait staff seemed to be teens who’d rather be doing something else. I get that it’s a fast casual place but having some more experienced hospo staff on the floor would really improve the experience. Atmosphere: needs work, it’s extremely bright in there lending a slightly antiseptic, cafeteria vibe. Some moodier lighting, and a way to seperate the gelato counter from the rest of the restaurant would give it a much warmer and comfortable vibe, matching the delicious and comforting food.

From Wellington, and this place is great. Pasta dishes are full a flavour and so fresh. I had the lasagne special, great confort food and the accompanying salad was simply but the seasoning was delicious. Could bottle that stuff. Will definitely come back.

Watch out for the shared plate option. We could not decide what to try so server suggested three or four dishes to share. We did that but the bill had the three dishes at full price so instead of paying for two dishes as only two diners, we paid for three. Disappointed at that and came away feeling scammed. Got to admit it's a great way to increase the sales on a slow lunchtime To be fair though the food was delicious. But would have preferred to pay for only two dishes. Even if they reduced each dish in the choice to ten bucks each they would still made money on three dishes.

Visited for dinner with my wife. The staff were helpful and welcoming. The pasta was all delicious, can strongly recommend the Pici and Orichiette. Aesthetically the restaurant is very cool. Nice dining area with views of the kitchen so you can watch the chefs hard at work. There is a great selection of delicious Gelato available. As a bonus everything is very reasonably priced! Will definitely visit again!

The pasta is super tasty definitely a serious contender for the best pasta in town. Would like to possibly see food served on heated plates. Staff needs a little bit more training on servicing tables in detail and promptly. Will be visiting the establishment again.

Simple pasta dishes set in an antiseptic restaurant, not much atmosphere but staff were friendly. Prices for what you get on the high side and wine overpriced. Take out a mortgage if you want a bottle.

Needed a place to take friends from Papamoa for a meal , chose Stata Pasta . Best choice we could have made . Atmosphere is brilliant and the food was delicious, especially the entree mussels , the main was just devine . The staff were excellent and made you feel at home . We will definitely be back again . Highly recommended.

Delicious, great atmosphere. It was quite busy so there was a bit of a wait, but the servers were very friendly and polite. And the food more than made up for the wait! A must when visiting New Plymouth and a staple for local restaurant-goers. We'll be returning!
