R.This place used to be great, this is from the time of the original owner Shirl.
The new owners have kept the original name, the iconic steak cut chips and all of the other fried goodies and have added Chinese cuisine to the menu.
The steak cut chips used to be perfect. Crunchy golden bite yet soft in the middle, perfect amount of salt. This made them iconic. Nowadays, they're either overcooked or soggy.
The fish is not the freshest but neither is most fish in takeaway shops these days, unless you're at a shop in a beach town so considering, they're not that bad.
The Chinese dishes I feel is a hit and miss. Some days their dishes, black bean, sweet and sour, egg foo yung, just to name a few are perfect and other days they're bland and seriously lacking in taste.
I've given the rating it deserves because you're either gonna get a great meal or a dud.

Clean tidy establishment and friendly service.
Their specials where priced pretty good, I bought a mixed pack along with a large combination fried rice.
Took all but 20minutes from order to ready.
The fries are the thick oven type and are very good, the fish was good but to my personal taste was dipped with too much batter, sausages were okay but a bit tough for my liking, I much prefer fresh sausages rather than the precooked type.
The fried rice was pretty tasty yet lacked meat variation as it seemed like there was mostly beef in it which defeated the entire purpose of being called a combination.
Good amount of salt and otherwise a good takeaway meal for the hungry.

k.Drove from TK to try them out, although the fish wasn't as fresh as I liked (I'm fussy) the batter was delicious, chips yummy and generous portions, overall pleasant experience, definitely worth the drive
L.Really great I just wish there was another $7 pack with more chips and a hot dog instead of a sausage and chicken nuggets! But in my opinion these takeaways are the nicest in Ngaruawahia! Mean chips.

M.Ordered the $7.00 burger, chips and drink combo. Food was prepared quickly. Burger was fresh and delicious. Chips were awesome. Highly recommended for a quick bite to eat.
