s.Unbeatable view of the Oamaru port. Lots and seals lying on the bay to see from the restaurant. This restaurant is located right next to the blue penguins colony. Great interior decor with lots of indoor plants, well staffed and staff are friendly and helpful. We didn't get to sit by the window but the atmosphere was still great. The food was not bad but also not great. We had two pizzas, a squid and a hotpot and 4 gelatos. The squid was quite interestingly seasoned. The Hot pot was tomato based soup cooked too hard. Gelato flavours looked interesting but couldn't really taste the flavours just nothing but too sweet. The freezer was probably set too cold, it was hard to scoop up and didn't make the staff's life easy. Gelato was the most disappointing part of the night.
B.A really beautiful restaurant with a stunning view! Despite not having a booking for dinner the staff were really friendly and fitted my sister and I in. The menu is obviously very seafood based (which I love!) and the meals were absolutely divine. A great selection of meals and drinks for everyone.
The staff were really attentive and welcoming. Highly recommend to visitors or locals alike!
r.I had a delicious lunch at Del Mar with my lovely friend. Their passion fruit sushi is divine and for desert we had the brownie - i had mine with raspberry sorbet. It was divine! The service was excellent; our waitress was very bubbly and engaging and funny. I love the interior as well - with all the plants, the beautiful wood and the soft furnishings. Del Mar is a wonderful restaurant to go to, if you're looking for something a little bit different and unique!
v.I visited Del Mar for the first time and would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who enjoys excellent food, good atmosphere and beautiful views. We ordered the Rabas, Waffle chips and Margarita pizza and everything was delicious , well presented and very good portions.

J.The chowder was nice, had a couple of good cocktails and who doesn’t love a good waffle fry.. it was all pretty decent, I couldn’t fault anything but nothing was really stand-out either.
R.This local restaurant is just outside Oamaru and has good food to offer. The food is tasteful and served fresh. I was a bit later than my group so my order was taken late. Still they managed to get it prepared in time with the rest. Staff is friendly and willing to help.
A.As someone who regularly visits this place for lunches and dinners with my family or friends, its saddening to see these awful reviews. We love this place and the food and service is always good. M.A beautiful light filled, restaurant. Dripping with hanging plants, planter boxes and views of Oamaru Harbour looking out along the coast. We popped in for lunch and were quickly seated by friendly wait staff. The menu is predominantly seafood with a smattering of other options. We chose the Fish tacos and the Ceviche. The tacos were great but the Ceviche was the star of the show. Beautiful fresh fish in a lime, ginger and garlic dressing tossed with avocado and cherry tomatoes on a bed of lettuce. Heaven. Will be back for more.
T.What a delightful little find. OAMARU on a Sunday!!! Awesome vibe, awesome service, awesome beer on tap, (buzzing after the first pint of McLeod's pale ale- winning)... but the food- OMFG the FOOD... it is absolutely delicious. Oamaru!!! Wow. The beers on tap, the authentically made gelato, the fresh seafood... the fresh seafood, the pizza. I love food and I'm happy. Service, vibe, beers, food...I am moving in. What a wicked way to spend a Sunday. Without a doubt 5 stars xxx
A.Great food, friendly staff, really nice night. Only comment was that the staff took their time clearing tables and large amount of dirty glasses sat at the bar for a long time. Apart from that fantastic meal.

A.Wonderful addition to Oamaru from the owners of Cucina. Bringing both couples and family friendly cuisine together in an outstanding restaurant fitout with seating either inside, on the enclosed deck or outside. Stunning location. Their sharing platter was divine ! Well done Yanina and Pablo ;)

A.One of those places you get excited to go to every time. Lovely staff, fantastic food, great beer and drinks selection and gelato to top it all off.
R.My wife and I went on a Monday night for dinner and it was about half full. Previously we have had an excellent meal but tonight not so much. My wife's fish was excellent but my seafood chowder was not. I was very disappointed. I suggest they use a good recipe book next time.

M.What a real treat! Superb bistro dining in a modern and very cool setting. Views across Friendly Bay are stunning. We were seated on the veranda that extends out across the water, enclosed in glass and warm and comfy. All new and beautifully appointed. We shared the fish and chips, the vegetarian pizza, I had a lovely local craft beer, my wife a superb Abel Tasman Chardonnay. Outstanding food. Wow! Juicy fresh crumbed hapuka, served with crispy fries and hand made tartare sauce. Seasoning perfect, piping hot, plenty of lemon wedges, it was absolutely the best f & c’s we’ve had. The vegetarian pizza also a knockout. Traditional Italian style with high quality mozzarella, artichokes a plenty, and just melt in the mouth. Service perfect, fresh local ingredients, cool, laid back, casual dining. Place was buzzing. We loved it. Best eatery in Oamaru, definitely. 5 stars from us. 🙏🏻🙏🏻

C.A day trip to Oamaru ended up with us here on a cold evening, looking for a take away coffee before driving home to Dunedin. The place is beautiful, the decor is really nice but the view out the windows is next level amazing. The staff were friendly and helpful and put up with me tasting a few flavors of their store made gelato. I made my choice, left with my coffees and gelato and headed home. I've been thinking about the gelato non stop and plan on stopping in for a meal the next time I'm up that way. What a great and unexpected discovery, thanks 👍
A.Possibly the finest seafood hot pot I've ever enjoyed. Perfectly cooked ingredients from white fish to octopus, prawns and clams. Outstanding broth and great presentation. Excellent value in a picturesque and charming settimg. Well done Del Mar. I will definitely be back.

S.Oamaru is so lucky to have such a great restaurant. We are only in Oamaru for 1 night and our hotel (Poshtel, also fabulous) recommended Del Mar. My husband and I both had the fish of the day. Beautifully cooked fish served with potatoes and broccolini. A very generous meal at a reasonable price. There's a nice selection of wines by the glass and a delicious sorbet was a great way to finish the meal. We'd certainly recommend it to anyone visiting Oamaru.

S.The food was good, but the service could have been better. The wait staff were friendly enough, but could have done things better in terms of telling us the specials once we were settled, as opposed to as we were pulling out our chairs to sit down, and knowing what beers were on tap. Our mains also took quite a while to come out.
