1st time in Oamaru, based on reviews we went there. Dog friendly , fantastic feed for the $ had to ask for a doggy bag . Staff friendly and helpful. Please take note i was not able to take photo's inside as i had a little woof woof with me . But I'm sure it would have been great

Fat Sally's is really lovely. Plenty of parking to choose from, there again it is Sunday, very warm welcome into a very bright chirpy environment. Service was amazing and cannot be faulted. We were made to feel very welcome after an hour and halfs drive. Very clean throughout and very Covid conscious. When we finally got our meals both of us said the meals were just absolutely beautiful, the meat practically dissolving in our mouths. A real complement to the chef. Our meals were really worth what we paid. Thankyou for the fabulous hospitality and food. We will be going back. This is a MUST to visit.

A great dining experience. I ordered the Sal Royale. A chicken salad dish with camembert and salad. It was delicious and much larger than expected. The other dish was the Kevs Fish (crumbed sole). A "small" that was larger than many large dishes. Lol. Good service as well. Most satisfied dining experience.

Great service, great food and great vibe. I was recommended this restaurant by the hotel receptionist and it was a great experience. The prices are reasonable, the staff are friendly, positive and happy to help. 'Sally', it turns out, is a fixture at the bar leading from the front. The ribeye steak meal I ordered was large and cooked to perfection. I just managed to squeeze in their Bombe Alaska dessert which was also delectable. At 6-7pm on a Tuesday evening, the place was packed and there was a great atmosphere. Would definitely return if I'm ever back in Oamaru.

We had decided to eat out on our final night of our spring away holiday and went hopeful of getting a table. We were lucky, got a table and had very quick service. Great meal, huge portions but cooked well and quickly. Very enjoyable way to spend our last night on holiday. Thanks to the staff.

Food was great as always, I had the chicken breast, and it was lovely and tender, yummy potatoes and a fresh salad. Also other dinner party members had the fishing with Kev. Their meals were a great size, fresh fish plenty of chips and again fresh salad. Only thing missing was a bit more service, no water offered and son asked for tomato sauce and we are still waiting for it. No one came and asked if we wanted another beer. However the food outweighed the service so we will be back.

EATING HERE WILL MAKE YOU FATTER THAN SALLY!! In a good way of course 😄 Great tasting and HUGE portions. We were staying at the Oamaru Motor Lodge who have a delivery deal with Fat Sally’s. The food game on proper plates, well presented and hot. Did I mention the portions? HUGE. We ordered 2 fish and chips (the small portion) and for $22 received 4 large fillets and a huge portion of chips and salads. We also ordered a Thai curry which was basically served in a large pot, full to the brim!! Overall great service and great food.

Always a fabulous feed with attentive service. Love stopping in here for a meal on our way through Oamaru. Only downbuzz this visit was the external door near our table being left open and allowing cigarette smoke to waft into our space. Staff were good to close it when asked but somehow it kept being left open, and the smoke was a real irritant.

For a relatively reasonable price you get a huge portion of really tasty food. I recommend the crispy chicken salad, roast lamb and roast pork. All were giant sized meals but some of the best I've had on my visit to NZ. Service is nice and you'll get a bottle of water brought out if you need one to help wash your plateful down! I haven't tried the desserts, but they all sounded delicious. Overall not a cheap place but for the amount and quality of food you'll get it is definitely worth a visit.
