Absolutely beautiful! Every time I go for a meal I am always blown away! I usually order the super salad (which by the way if you haven't tried you must) and the arancini 10/10 The gnocchi is delicious and they have big portions! The service there is amazing and fast, if you are ever dining at Osteria order a cocktail!! They are delicious and HUGE. Thanks for having us!

Ohakune deserted but Osteria was full. They found space for us walk-ins: fast and friendly; lots of salad which we like; crisp croquettes; fine fish (snapper & smoked salmon; lovely atmosphere.

We hadn't booked but they found us a table. Being Vegetarian, they were able to modify pasta dishes for us. Loved the zucchini fries and the seasonal vegetables even featured carrot. Our carnivore loved his pizza. Service was quick. All told a great choice.

The food was delicious from start to finish 🤤 Staff were very attentive, polite & friendly Service was real fast. Starters - Garlic bread with cheese & herbs, light & fluffy, this alone was very tasty, the dips were ok. Mains - Pizza - Chicken Pollo, Chicken fettuccine & side of fries. Dessert - Home made Wild Berry Cheese cake The best $90 I’ve spent in a restaurant where everything was near perfect. WE WILL BE BACK!!!

Must go if you are in Ohakune! They didn't have an item available on the menu but I ordered a plate of pasta - would order it again! The only thing I'd add is to serve a littlest bit of bread with the food, so all the leftover sauce doesn't go to waste 💔

I can't fault anything about our "end of holiday travels" dinner at Osteria tonight. We sat right near the kitchen which ran like a well oiled machine. All table servers were active and attentive and the food was fabulous. Definitely the spiciest shrimp cocktail I've ever had, was a bit much for my baby spice mouth but I still ate it because it was delish! Had garlic bread to start which was a good size and puffy and soft, scallops for my main which were delectable, and chocolate cake for desert which was exquisite. Thank you Osteria Ohakune, that was fabulous.

Had a lovely meal at Osteria last night, Sunday. We didn’t have a reservation but they were able to seat two of us with no problem at 17:30. Food was fantastic. We shared the starter bread with garlic and cheese, a small portion but the bread was very light and flavorful. Next up: pork belly risotto and salmon penne, both absolutely delicious! Oh and don’t be fooled by the photo, there was actually a lot of fish hidden underneath the pasta. Be sure to ask for the chili oil if you like a bit of a kick, definitely elevated the dish in my opinion. Lastly we had tiramisu, coffee flavor was bold and rich. Perfect finish to a great night in Italia 💚🤍❤️ Service was good and restaurant very cozy. Only minor criticism, tell customers what you’re out of before they have time to read the menu and decide they want the two things you’re out of 🤣 We were very happy with what we ended up ordering but it was a bit annoying.

Very nice. The food is really good - reminded me of a trip to Italy in 2014. Large portion sizes, don't be afraid to ask for a take away container. My only complaint was that we were sat at a table that felt like it was placed in a corner. Very hot, and I was staring at an old broken door as my back drop. Overall really nice and would go again. There are other seats than the one we were sat at 🙂

Just wow!, this Italian restaurant has the most authentic italian vibe I have experienced. The food was incredibly delicious and carried traditional Italian flavours that made you feel like you were dining in Italy itself. I loved everything about this restaurant, the staff, the homely seating arrangements, even the chefs congratulating eachother on there dishes as they came out of the kitchen. Well done to the team at Osteria.

Easily the best restaurant in Ohakune, consistently good meals, well cooked and very tasty. I highly recommend the Lamb shanks and the Beef Cheeks, both very tender and succulent. The service is excellent being friendly and attentive, make sure to make this your main dinner if visiting Ohakune!!

We were lucky since we came without a booking and they happened to have a table that could fit 4, the last one available. They were full so it wasn't surprising that they were a bit lax in service. We were seated and given menus but it took a while to get someones attention to be able to order. The ordering was also felt a bit rushed with no pleasantries and asking about drinks. We only knew about the specials since it was on the door outside. The food was tasty. We had the calamari and meatballs to share. Both were tasty and flavourful. The restaurant wasn't as busy after the entree and we were able to switch to a nicer table. I had the beef cheeks and it was nice. Quite tender but thought it would've been a lot nicer with a bit more sauce or gravy. A friend had the special with the Italian sausage which was hard as a rock. Portion wise, I thought the food was a bit on the small side. We had the dessert pizza and that was nice, especially the ice cream. Nice food and service was ok. It has really nice decor particularly if you manage to get a seat in the inner dining area.

We were stopping by on our road trip. The staff is excellent, we had to wait a little bit because it was pretty crowded, but the pizzas were tasty and the right portions. We would recommend them to install a sunshade for the late evening sun. Don"t miss them!

Arrived off the street without a booking. Lady (Teressa) at the front desk explained they were booked out. My daughter and I were starving and needed food ! We came on a Saturday night and were lucky to have a table because they were well booked. The service is great-the waiters work very hard but are always happy to help you. The food was delicious-garlic bread, pork risotto, side dish salad and very hot lasagna, it was so hot, we eventually took it away and enjoyed it later. We shared an amazing double cheesecake as dessert, which was perfect. The value-for-money portion, excellent value for money. I have been to Maunganui Mountain and Osteria in Matamata before, and this is by far the best place I have been.

I've been to this restaurant twice in the last few weeks. Both times have been a fantastic experience. Food is perfect, staff are efficient, venue is tidy. Tonight was very busy and we were seated without a booking - I would recommend booking this time of year however! There are some good food establishments in Ohakune, however, you don't want to give this one a miss.

Great and tasty food 5 stars to that, but staff was very rude and we asked 3 times for a missed drink and didn’t got it at all, also got menus but no drink card and waitress only asked very quickly straight after we where seated what we would like to eat, didn’t even have time to really look as she was standing beside the table not giving us any time, asked for a drink menu and she rolled her eyes and got it. Food was a little average for the money. Pasta was great. Steak and slow lamb not so much... Service was excellent up until trying to pay the bill which often seems a struggle in NZ! We rolled into Ohakune for a couple of days hiking and mountain biking in the off season. We arrived off a longish drive, starving, ready for lunch and stopped at the first likely looking spot. Happily that place was Osteria, pasta was exactly what the doctor ordered. We arrived at an odd time and it was quiet, however the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The food came out quickly and was absolutely delicious, couldn't have asked for better. And, at $15 for lunch it was very good value, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Osteria to others

Drinks were missed, vegetarians got served bacon, the wrong starters were brought out and reluctantly returned, mains were finished before others arrived. We had a group of 9 people and showed up on a Saturday night while they were quite busy. The service we got was wonderful. They got a table ready for us within 5 minutes. The staff were attentive and friendly and the food was delicious! Thank you.

We didn't book but the lovely front counter staff (likely the duty manager) squeezed us in on a table for just under an hour. The food was unbelievably quick - possibly just given the circumstances - but great nonetheless. Wait staff we're attentive. Aranchini was really yummy and filling. The rest of the food (cabanara and fettuccine) was so average, lacked flavour and presentation - especially for such a high price point. We spent a total of $74 on two meals, one starter and one beer. We left very satisfied from a hunger point of view, but it's not the 4.6 star, $74 meal we were expecting.. Not likely to return here. I would only recommend this for great service.
