Y.First time here and had a wonderful experience. Weather was fine, bright and sunny so we chose to sit outside, enjoying the sea view and gentle breeze.
The place was themed, with fishermen things, feels like going onto a big boat. When we came, we were greeted in the most friendly way.
Our server was fast, polite and attentive.
We ordered our meals. I went for the pan fried fish of the day (butterfish), with half and half chips and croquette.
While waiting for the meals to arrive, we had our go with the salad bar (boat). There were plenty of choices, and seems to be well topped up. All of us enjoyed it.
Overall had a good time, brilliant weather, good food and value for money.
D.Call in advance to reserve.lots of people especially during lunch time.option to stay outdoor or indoor.Buffet salad..loved the waldorf,egg and potato salad..Took awhile before our food came but we didn't really mind as we enjoyed the view plus the salad buffet 😅 Went back 4x 🤪 loved the ribeye steak,light serving is good for one. hubby ordered chicken tenderloins,main.we were so surprised by how generous the portion was.plus chips and croquette.as we were already full, we took them home,ate them on our way to Rotorua. Absolutely recommended!
A.If you disembark from the interislander and travelling north.. make this your place to eat..Call ahead and book a table so you don't miss out! Salad buffet bar has a great variety of delicious salads,main meals are fantastic portions, purchase just entree and add salad bar at an extra cost,if your wanting to eat light.The $10 desserts have some great options, hot,cold,drinks, free chilled self serve water avail, mock tails, cocktails,fully licenced bar,kids menu..Beautiful view of the sea if dining outside. Staff were amazing!

E.Beautiful view,great food for the price,good portion sizes,excellent service. Only sad part was our table was to small for the 5 of us,we felt abit squashed up. Cocktails and drinks were amazing. Sauce for the steak was abit bland but not bad. Steaks were perfect,seafood amazing. Salads great. Again, well done on service! Will go back again.
T.We really loved our first experience here. Had wanted to go for years and it didn't disappoint. Had our choice of where we wanted to sit and were outside in the beautiful sun, right on the beach. Stunning!
The menu is such incredible value and the food was so good. The service was the right amount of attentive. Due to not being able to have the salad bar during pandemic times, we got a selection of salads brought to us and it was incredible value and delicious options.
Can't wait to come back!

S.I have to say, that service at Fishermans Table was flawless. Waiters were very attentive which made for a pleasant experience. However, the food could have been better. Everything tasted a little too bland, dry and under seasoned. It was luckily redeemed by the dessert.

K.Nice seafood, Vietnamese restaurant in paekakariki. The food was different to what you experience in other Vietnamese restaurants. Mildly spicy. There is unlimited salad options available if you choose certain meals options. The kids menu options were options were good, so were the desserts. The view of the ocean from the boat restaurant was awesome.
R.Booths and tables inside or tables overlooking the ocean outside. Buffet salad boat. Helpful, polite wait staff. Very busy at peak times, but the wait wasn't bad. Food was fine and the prices reasonable. Fourth star for the view.
P.My partner and I are regulars at Fishies. We like to go at least once a month if possible. Was glad that the salad boat is back with all their usually goodies. Even tho it was full we were still served promptly and their food is always consistently delicious.
M.We were there for my mum's 85th birthday, my partners daughter made her a special birthday cake. The disappointment about fisherman table they charge $1 per person for the cake they didn't make . As a big group we spent a few 100 dollars and it felt like they were just getting as much money out of you as they could.
We have been to a lot of restaurant and NEVER been charged for bringing a cake.

D.They say the food is cheap and the view is worth a million dollars. Sums up the place nicely really. The service was really good, the staff were friendly, funny and well mannered. The food is relatively cheap as advertised, but in terms quality, I'd put it on par with RSA or pub food at best. I had pan fried fish and it was fine, not awful, not great. I guess I just had higher expectations for the options and freshness of the fish at a place called "Fisherman's table". The view is pretty nice, my guess is it'd be at least a million dollar view at current property prices😂

Can choose meal size. Nice view of Tasman sea. Plenty of parking space. Conveniently located on the State High 1 but the road number will change to SH 59 soon once Transmission Gully will open.

F.Restaurant service was comprised by the Covid situation. One or two dishes not available. I was surprised that there was no battered fish on the menu, the deep fried options were all crumbed. Crumbed fish portions a bit on the small side. But we had a nice evening. I like the choice of croquette potatoes or chips. The salad bar was not operating due to Covid restrictions but an assortment was served at the table. These were tasty and fresh.

D.Nice place and attention provided by the staff. In the menu it is possible to get 2 vegetarian dishes and a vegan as well offered as an extra choice (a kind of Mediterrean vegetables and chickpeas). The salad bar is plenty of options. The relation between price and quantity is really good. I asked for a dessert (chocolate cake with ice cream). A great closure. I highlight the nice attention received.
S.Great service food came out real quick only thing i was a little dissappointed was steak medium rare was a little too rare . Will prder medium next time. Pav was nice could have had ice cream instead of just cream

L.I experienced this little gem only recently, absolutely loved my visit here. Sat outside facing the ocean, eating my dinner, my food was amazing i cant fault it, everything was top notch, desert was devine. I hope to be back soon
H.🐟Daily Special - Pan-fried fish with the half& half option. The sauce tastes good but the fish is served too late that it is kinda cold.
🐟Tomato Soup - very sweet and sour flavored, which makes the other dishes almost plainly tasted.
🐟Salad Bar - A variety of choices including hot dishes, cold pasta, vegetable salads and sauces/seeds/raisins. Love their roasted potato which we can’t help getting them from the bar.
🐟Service is slow but staff are friendly. Ideal place to have an ocean view though.
F.food quality & service are just above average. but the buffet style salad bar is a bonus point. plus beautiful ocean view. especially when weather is good. very suitable for family meal or friends catch up
J.Location - top class views of Kapiti Island. Food - really good starters and salad. Mussels were tasty. Mains weren't up to the expectations as it tasted pretty average. Staff were very friendly.

A.Absolutely my favourite place to go to when I'm passing through. Great food great prices and great staff. A must goto for anyone who has never been there.
D.Definately one of our family favorites when we're in the area, just can't beat it on a beautiful, clear day when the waves are still. Affordable prices for a large family and the salad bar is awesome. Been here a few times now and not once have we eaten inside lol that's the best thing about this place is the outside dining but make sure not to leave you're good unattended or the seagulls will snatch it up in a second!

M.Love this place! Nice food, reasonable price, amazing view from outside overlooking Kapiti Island. And really awesome staff you seemed to really enjoy their work which makes the whole experience better! One thing I will mention for anyone 6 ft or taller, watch your head as you walk through the door to the outside seating. Doorway is quite low and I SMASHED my head really hard! Also, a wheelchair cant get out there.. there is a high step with no ramp:/

It's a part of my childhood and the value for money you get here is awesome, thanks to the all you can eat salad bar. Salad bar has your usual cold salads - apple and celery, pasta salad, potato salad,egg salad and build your own salad with lettuce, tomatos etc and the hot salad selection of crunchy potatoes, buttered carrot and cauliflower with cheese sauce.
If you are on a budget, grab a light main for $18.95 and fill up on the salad bar!
The view and atmosphere just make it amazing especially on a good day.

N.Such fresh seafood! Was an absolute delight to eat here. Called in on the chance that they would have a spare table free for lunch 3days out from Christmas. Hey presto they did. Given how busy it was they were super speedy and the food was delicious. Highly recommended for everyone1
A.The views were shunning especially as it was a beautiful day so we could sit outside. The staff were very friendly and had great knowledge of the menu. The prices were very cost effective and for the price you pay it is good value for money.

k.A great place to go for a cheaper meal out with a group or family . Always known for the "salad bar" or salad boat as most people remember it for . Every one shouldn't remain hungry after just spending around $20 or more ,because of the bottomless salad boat . Fairly simple meals , and older decor , but you'll feel relaxed and get looked after .
V.Nice and reasonable price just outside of Wellington. They have a great view onto the coastline and the price they offer is incredible. A must try if you drive to Wellington.

M.Amazing Staff, went in for my anniversary dinner. Was quite busy due to rush hour timing but managed to be seated and served entrees within 15mins.
The seafood dishes tastes amazing, the steak cooked superb (med rare) but lacked a little bit of seasoning which the sauce helped recover.
Main issue is parking, or the lack of spaces available. Hope to see increased development.
Overall, would dine again.

V.The wait staff were great and very accommodating. Unfortunately, while the food was reasonably priced, it wasn't very appetising and we unfortunately left more food on the tables than what went in the stomach.
2 areas I'd suggest you look into:
1 - Understand how long to cook steak to get the varied types of cooked cuts (medium and well-done is not rare)
2 - Do not overcook deep fried food
I would've given this a 2 star review but the wait staff were so good that this lifts the rating.
I.Read some reviews and can say some people must be very fussy as we enjoyed our whole experience. Salad and fish were to die for. Grace waited on us was so lovely I tipped her for her bright and friendly service. First time in 65 years I have done that here in NZ.. So take no notice of the naysayers and stop in.you will be so glad you did.

V.Its been awhile since I was here last due to covid, but when I went with a group on Saturday night 10th of April for my birthday it was really good as it normally is. The staff are very friendly and welcoming and the food was very nice as it normally is.
This is a great value for money restaurant. We are so fortunate to have this wonderful restaurant here on the Kapiti Coast.
It is highly recommended to come for a meal if you have not already done so.

A.Reasonable fare at affordable prices.
I had the main sized pan fried fish, which came as two pieces. One perfectly cooked, the other a bit soggy, more steamed than pan-fried.
The salad selection, to me, was the highlight, though, not so much for the "all you can eat" aspect, but for the variety and quite frankly unexpected quality and freshness.
L.First time trying this restaurant and loved it. Delicious food and really lovely staff with great service. The salad bar has a fabulous range of salads and little extras and you can go back as many times as you like. The desserts were awesome. Highly recommend!

Food was pretty average though, not bad but not amazing. View is nice and nice location. But poor communication between staff/kitchen. There goes $8...
A.Great value food for the money. Good view too, whether it's fine or stormy. 20 min walk from Paekakariki if you don't happen to be driving.

T.I got the Rib Eye Steak meal with mushroom sauce. I didn't like the mushroom sauce. Preferably would rather creamy mushroom and I think that was cooked in red wine? That was my own fault though I should of asked.. but because it was placed on top of my steak I didn't eat it, otherwise the steak itself was cooked to perfection, so I was guttered. The chips weren't really hot either, closer to being cold then warmer. Service was sufficient and staff really nice.

s.Great mussles, fish and beautiful steak (which was just a bit undersalted) and cheesecakes. Awesome view on the outside right next to the beach that you can walk on before or after your meal. Only thing is the salad boat is a bit of a let down.

Salad bar (all you can eat) lots of good selection as per normal, but I dont know what they have done to the cauliflower... its either really old, its soooooo overcooked and watery and soooo horrible tasting. Thats what I used to like in the salad bar. I used to even go for seconds just for that... but overall, a good experienced for the family

Nice location by the sea, and nice ocean views if seated near the windows. Food is good although nothing exceptional. Good size servings too. Salad bar is great! S.Is it Michelin Star dining? Nope. Is it good food with great value for money? YEP! Do my kids love this place??? HECK YES! In and out in just over 30 minute's and straight back on state highway 1. Where else can you go for an endless salad bar where the kids go for seconds and the view... World class!

J.Always great, just check the carpark, it's always full... a Wellington/Porirua/Kapiti tradition. The salad boat is awesome and the views are unsurpassed. If summer eating outside is the best.
J.Food was amazing and so reasonably priced. Arrived without a reservation and it was not an issue to seat us. Only small criticism I have is that booth seating is not comfortable for everyone. There should be an option of booth seating or a standard table seating.

Very nice and next time I think I won't share but have this as my main. Followed this with breaded pork loin. Hubby ordered the large meal not realising it was 2 pieces of the pork! Too much for both of us after the entree so got a doggy bag to bring what we couldn't eat home. No room for dessert. The view while you are eating is lovely and we sat and watched the sun setting. As always, perfectly cooked. When we got our desserts, mine had a candle to blow out in it. Staff made my night really special. We often call in here on our way past at lunchtime and always enjoy the meals and awesum staff. Our No 1 place to go on tbe coast.

G.Was a little under whelmed. Have been there plenty of times in the past, so always knew the quality of the food. This time round not so. Was charged for a main but looked like a light. I paid for mine and partners food. Someone else had paid out portion 10 mins after I had paid and they charged her for my meals also and denied taking payment. Luckily I had kept my receipt. Will think of other options for group gatherings in the future. Otherwise try it, you may have a better experience than me.

C.This place is a total 90's throwback; the decor, the food, the whole vibe. But I must say, it is great for kids! The cover on the salad bar is a bit of a pain, and manuvering through the place without bumping into someone is a challenge in itself, but all in all I enjoyed the nostalgic experience.

M.This was our first time dining here so we weren't sure weather we had to make reservations, but no we got a table right away the service was awesome and we really enjoyed our meal as well. Very nice inside and the meals are so well priced, we would recommend to anyone looking for an option for dinner to pop in and check it out. They also have other options on their menu apart from fish so don't think it's just all about fish. Thanks heaps fisherman's table we would be calling in again soon👍

J.Look this is not a high quality fancy restaurant. What it is is comfortable and casual. Our service was great and the food was low cost and large portions. The food is low quality ingredients cooked well in a homemade style. Pete’s pot was super market frozen seafood in a tomato sauce that although was nice could easily be made at home with little skill. Only one tiny scallop and prawns that hadn’t been deveined. Due to enjoying the salad boat I wasn’t too upset by this. We left full and it was cheap. It’s like a cob and co style place (harvesters for uk pals).

I don't think the menu has changed in the last 40 years, but that's not necessarily a bad thing and this is definitely my parents' favourite dining destination! When we requested to be seated inside the duty manager insisted there was no available seating when clearly there was. we had a 2 yr old and to be seating outside where he could fall was not going to be ideal but they didnt care . l.We couldn't find a invalids toilet foe our elderly mother in a wheelchair. And the scallops would be better battered.
T.I had the best scallop mornay ever. In Wellington you would have paid double the price. I was so impressed that I found the chef and thanked him.

S.Talk about time warp to the 80s. Even the beer selection is 80s, they still think we all drink Speight and db!!! But the food is pretty good, the view is AWESOME, and all you eat salad bars are a throwback (is it a throwback if it never left?? Hmm...) that work.
A.Good restaurant by the sea on the Kapiti Coast. Went with a large group and we got our meals fast. The salad bar was a lot of fun and there was wheel chair access to the restaurant.

s.1st time there as a 7 year old with my family back in the 1950's. Off the ship in Wellington from the UK.. Not quite as I remember it as no doubt changed some but had a lovely fish meal today.. Will return.
S.My favourite restaurant. You have your mains menu, which is cooked brilliantly, and there's an all you can eat salad bar, the staff are always helpful and friendly. There's also a little area where you can sit and have a drink while your waiting for your table

R.We had a lovely meal this time it's 8 years or more since we were last ther last time our meal was cold and when we told them the staff just laughter at us so it has taken this long to go back we when there today because most places were shut.
