We ate here on our last night in Paihia and were so glad we did! It was amazing! Super friendly service, amazing location and the food was so good. Kids meals very generous in size (and delicious), duck risotto was great and once again big serving, our favourite dish by far was the lamb. So tender and delicious. We ate in several other top rated restaurants in Paihia and Russel and this was by far the best :)

With our friends from Auckland who said we must try this restaurant, so glad we did it’s casual and a lovely ambiance. Looking over the water. A decent spot at the beginning of the Paihia strip. Best for breakfast. Dinner service was friendly and attentive. Warm atmosphere and live music on some nights. The Chowder entreé was really good. Eggs Benedict with salmon for breakfast is the go. Menu is a bit pricey ($24+ for a burger), but that’s Paihia for you.

Lovely restaurant with great views of the sea. Seems to be further away from the main shops which may be why it was empty why we went but the food was nothing short of amazing. Massive fish bowls, with chocolate freakshakes, delicious beef brisket burgers... My go to for a reliable great quality, out of the box meal.

What a wonderful meal. I had the lamb dish which was so tender and so much meat! My husband had the pork which he loved. We ordered sides but really did not need to. Excellent value for money and I would highly recommend when you are in Paihia.

Great restaurant. Come here often when we visit family. Pet friendly, lovely outlook and friendly staff. The food is always top quality and consistent high standard. Very good value for money, loved the seafood platter, hope it becomes a regular on the menu.

Went for breakfast here - location is wonderful and the decor is comfy and cute. The service was fantastic - great energy to start the day. Loved the coffee and the food - good meal and good value. Also have colouring in for the kids.

It was okay, my latte was nice but a bit too sweet, just tell them next time not to put too much syrup in. I got this thing with an egg on top it was different to what I thought it was I thought it was a quiche with bacon and egg or summin and it wasn't warmed up... If it was it was cold by the time it got to me. As was the lemon muffin which was a bit sweet... Other than that I still ate them both.

Went here a couple of years ago and it was fantastic. This time, went for breakfast and the waitress was friendly but had no idea what she was doing. Coffee came out after the food and cutlery had to be asked for

Had a lovely meal, good sized portions and delicious - we enjoyed the friendly warm service from the staff and they gave my daughter a special birthday surprise with a candle and marshmallows. Definitely recommend

Great customer service, steak and pork was cooked perfectly. The cray bisque wasn't the greatest and the music was a little loud but that may be my age showing through 😂 (36). For me though it was definitely the service, the girls at alfresco are amazing and do a great job. Thank you so much and we will be back.

Superb location but disappointed a little with the meal. I ordered roast duck which came with fondant potatoes. I'm sorry on two points. What I received was really boiled potatoes with a tinge of brown colouring on a couple of them. No way were they fondant potatoes The chef needs to be taight how to make fondant potatoes. Secondly I was given a roast duck leg not what i was expecting. The meal in my opinion was wrongly describef on the menu. It should have stated it was a leg not roast duck. Finally the garic bread was plain long bread rolls cut in half and spread with garlic butter and not toasted either. Overall a disappointment and would have to think hard about returning.

Very friendly staff serving super delicious food in a nicely decorated, atmospheric place. Everything is cooked fresh for you - no junky fast food here! The price tag is not the lowest but I'll gladly come here any time again. The only thing that was a bit cheeky, though: a single slice of toasted Ciabatta for $2. Still, it was very delicious :)

Just had a lovely dinner here tonight, great service, great food, all overseen by the lovely Ruby the golden retriever on front of house. Customer service was great. Been here second time and they didnt dissapointed at all. I Would definitely recommend if you are in Paihia and looking for a good meal.

Delicious food and great service, couldn't fault a single thing. Even allowed a little bit of substitution to cater for me, which was really appreciated! I couldn't pick a favourite... But the chocolate tart was incredible! Chilled atmosphere with a great playlist in the background.

Stopped in here today after driving past the last couple weeks of our stay. The place always looks pumping, so the food and atmosphere must be good right?! We ordered off the "late lunch" menu cause we were eating about 3pm as you do on holiday lol. The atmosphere was primo. Beautiful covered in deck facing the beach, plants and timber for miles while the sea breeze and the sun kisses your skin 👌 The food choices and food itself however, failed to deliver in our opinion. We ordered the most INSANE drink (freak shake) and that blew our socks off which was great, but the burger was really dry, flavorless and lacking in many aspects. The meat pattie tasted like the mince was just about off (bearable though) there was no cheese, 2 paper thin slices of beetroot, one slice of lettuce, 2 ends of tomato, and a couple onion rings and mayo. The pattie and the bun were super dry unfortunately. It could be improved by under cooking the beef a little so it doesn't come out dry, adding some cheese and a little sauce or caramelized onion relish or sauce and perhaps not toasting the bun so long. Friendly staff however, and we would recommend the duck liver pate as it melts in your mouth.

We visited at lunch time on the weekday and it was not busy at all. Friendly staff took out toys and blocks for the children. Heaps of items to choose from the menu. The mini pizza from the kids menu is cute.

Dropped in to Alfrescos for a quick bite before our intended visit to Kawiti’s caves to see the glow worms....we blame Alfresco for missing the worms but we got a great feed instead! We aived about 2pm - 2 adults, 2 kids and a baby so I think they were over the main luncheon rush - we certainly felt they gave us ample attention and help with everything. The kids loved the distractions...colouring in and toys for the rug crawler. I loved the oysters - super fresh, the seafood chowder full of ki moana. We also got the bread selection, olives, the mussels, and the Paua starter - now how often do you see Paua on the menu! We ha a couple of glasses of the Chalice Sauvignon Blanc to quench us, and our hostess even found time to take a family photo - thanks! We would thoroughly recommend Alfresco for a family or for grown ups looking for a great informal dining experience in Paihia.

Lovely ambience. While it wasn't crowded and the food took a while to arrive, it was well cooked and great presentation. I was a bit flummoxed to be given margarine when I asked for butter i was told there wasn't any, however, quite magically.

The venue is pretty good and always seemed to be busy. Service while trying to get a table was average but the waitstaff were friendly. They have limited veg options, unless you want a bunch of sides. The fish and chips was good and burger was just OK. Overall we were disappointed.

It's been two years since I visited, but I remember having a great time with my family. I don't remember the food or drink being overpriced and they had great live music when I was there. Portions are a bit smaller than the "American standard", but that is the be expected. Just a heads up for anyone looking to "pig out". Had lunch with the family during our visit over the summer. Very friendly staff, reasonable service, perhaps could have been quicker considering it was not overly busy. But the food was great. We had seafood chowder, calamari and a fish burger. Everyone enjoyed their meals and left feeling very satisfied.

The staff were so nice and doing their best at the lunch time rush, they're hiring right now as there are 2 waitresses and 1 bartender doing all the hard work. If your wanting a spicy cocktail I reccomend the "gin membership 2" the long island one was absolutely delicious. If your going for fish and chips I recommend pan fried over battered. They have kids colouring books and amazing drinks too. They have something called a fishbowl and that has a few different flavors. Theres also free wifi and its..dog friendly 😁 not just service dog friendly, but your best friend can be there too, this is the 1st restaurant that I've come across that's dog friendly. I love it here. You can buy your own crayfish and pauas. I'd gladly go again, everyday if I could. 10/10 would recommend. Oh..another bonus..its wheelchair friendly as well. 🥰♥️

Lovely place with a great team. Our first night in Paihia we wandered down and found them. Flat off their feet but still had a welcoming table for two for us. Food was so tasty and filling, especially after such a long ride. Came back again the next day for cocktail hour and those were a yummy way to finish the day.

The staff did warn us in advanced about the potential long waiting time for the food. But a local highly recommended this place so we still went for it. As "promised", the food took an hour and a bit to arrive. I was having high expectation for the food, partly because of the reputation and also the long waiting time. The food turned out to be average. Not bad at all but not outstanding at the same time. We ordered a seafood platter. Given it was $45 I was hoping for some good seafood like fresh oysters and salmon. Unfortunately no oysters were on the plate and all other seafood was cooked. I guess it may suit some people's appetite but not for me. Anyway I can't blame as I did not ask the staff before I order that. Overall impression: average-fair food. I heard the waiting time is always long, I wonder why nothing was done about it?

I first went here about a year and a half ago and had the most delicious steak so came back again. The atmosphere is chill, a lovely spot opposite the beach and really good staff. This time round I had the steak again but I think the server may have misheard me as I asked for medium-rare but it was more medium-well...a bit disappointing but nevermind. We went back the next morning for breakfast. I had the bacon, eggs and toast and it was nice but I would have liked more scrambled eggs...it was only $10 which is great, but I would be happy to pay a bit more for more eggs. Apart from my little issues, I will definitely go back next time I'm up.

What can I say about this place, the food was exceptional, the staff were very friendly and can be obvious that they try their best to be comfortable in the restaurant. We ordered an angus burger and stake. The burger was one of the best burgers I've every tasted in my life. It's so tender and the spices used was outstanding. Personally, I would change the bun as it was very hard but that's my personal preference as I prefer soft buns. The stake was very good and the frise was good. The mushrooms that were in the dish was so enjoyable and tasteful. If you are in Paihia, you MUST visit this restaurant. It would rate it 1000 out of 5 but am limited. I only downside is that it's extremely expensive. $70 for a burger, steak and onion soup no drinks.

Great food and comfortable atmosphere. Popular place in Paihia which is evident at how fast the place fills up at dinner time. Had the Angus beef burger which came with chips. Full to the brim with just those. Had a coke to wash it down and was pleasantly surprised to see glass coke bottles come out with a glass with ice (instead if the regular bar coke). Will definitely be back.

Would have given this restaurant 5 stars, but thought that while the service was great, they could have done with an additional server to cope with a busy night. However the food was divine and I thought well priced. Totally recommend the Seafood Chowder - probably one of the best I have tasted. And also the Mussels in Chili/Coriander sauce - sublime and left you wanting more. Considering we were visiting in the winter, when numbers are down - this did not seem to affect Alfresco's much.

Spent 3 nights in Paihia, found Alfrescos the first night & had a great meal with great service. Went fishing the next day and Chefs cooked our fantastic fish dinner for us with the fish we supplied them. Extremely reasonably priced we were charged for this. So happy that we ate there again our 3rd & final night in beautiful memorable Paihia.

What a great find this was. Super friendly and efficient staff and delicious food. Seafood chowder is difficult to get just right and theirs couldn’t have been batter.

Courtesy van home was the icing on the cake to make this restaurant one of the best we have been to in a long time. Stopped into Alfresco's Restaurant & Bar for a spot of lunch. We were seated and shown the extensive menu. I chose the Tanewha Frybread Burger. Wow, absolutely magnificent! Succulent, moist tender pull apart, flavour packed brisket and fried egg with grilled cheese. Washed down with a cold Tiger Beer. I'd recommend this hearty Burger when you visit Alfresco.

Last minute decision to eat out after a day in Russell..... which was closed! Lol!. So glad we did stop here. Best fish and chips I think I've ever had. John Dory it was with a beer batter.... to rival some tempura I've had! My other half opted for their pork loin special.... my goodness..... he hardly spoke.... not a speck left on his plate! I just managed to taste the sage mash with his meal came with.... delish. Service was great too... these guys could give a few places in Auckland a run for their money!!

Super food, super service. I was in Paihia on my own and know that not every restaurant can easily cater for the sole diner. I popped in for dinner and Alfresco were awesome! Just the right amount of attentiveness and friendliness at every step. My meal was delicious in fact, the food was so good, I went back for breakfast a day or two after - also outstanding! And even though they were really busy that morning, my table for one was still no trouble at all. Nice one guys - thank you!

This is the best restaurant in Paihia for a good value for money meal. Sadly we found it on our last day here after some fairly average meals in the centre of town. Alfrescos is on the southern entrance to Paihia so if the weather is not great you might have to drive but would only be less than a ten minute walk from the other end of town. We enjoyed a lunch of the soup of the day which was very tasty served with toasted ciabatta and the beef bourguignon which was lovely and served with a good serving of broccoli, cauliflower and roasted potatoes.
