Had a fabulous meal here, food was delicious and the staff were so friendly and attentive. Would highly recommend and we will definitely be back!

Great restaurant. We didn't book as we're just passing by for a quick meal after a long day, so we were downstairs, which is still nice. But if you want a better table, make sure to book. Customer service A+++, food is delicious and generous portions. If we weren't in a rush, we would have ordered dessert, but definitely next time we are in Palmy we will come in for a proper full meal .

Staff very professional warm and welcoming (our front of house host took GREAT care of us from arrival to departure! Dejeuner are also MASTERS @ their craft for sure!! This was our first time at Dejeuner and we can affirm, we've never tasted these dishes cooked so amazingly well anywhere else and could truly taste the love poured into each dish!! Atmosphere - very relaxed, professional, clean space, warm & welcoming! Classy and cool décor Highly recommend the Dark & Stormy cocktail also!! Making a booking online was a simple and easy process also. Thank you for making sure we felt cared for during our first dinning experience and making our Wedding Anniversary dinner date unforgettable! We look fwd to becoming regulars!! Ps. My husband and I had an amazing dinning experience from start to finish.. friendly staff..great service.. prompt service.. delicious food.. great price. The meal itself was delicious. A beautifully cooked steak that was advised by the waiteras needing sides but it didn't. My partner had the chicken which was a generous portion but also didn't really need any side dishes. Main meal prices without sides were very reasonable. However our whole experience here was marred by the inflexible and unwelcoming front of house staff. We had booked a table for two but we were in shown to a booth table set for three. When we queried this and asked if the other reserved booth table for two was ours we were told no all tables were pre booked and we were sat at another table near to a rather noisy bigger group. We were provided only with the dinner menu. When we queried if we could look at the All Day menu which we had seen on Facebook. That menu contained a wider range of food we would normally choose. However we were told the All Day menu wasn't available. Fortunately we both found dishes on the dinner menu. We did not choose an entree but we were suddenly offered garlic bread which was not on the menu. My partner commented on the above issues as we paid the bill. The person taking our money made no comment apart from saying it us hard to get good staff

Had dinner last night and absolutely speechless. I ordered for their fillet mignon cooked medium well and the plate looked like pure artistry. The steak was cooked to perfection and was just in sync with the sauce and other accompaniments. Top notch service and the kind gentleman serving me even recommended a full bodied cabernet- merlot to accompany my fillet which was again, just perfect. I am definitely going back to try other offerings on the menu. Well done guys.👏👏

My husband, a Kiwi by birth, and I have finally been able to cross from my native west Coast of America where we live to his home town of Palmerston North. We have had the pleasure of eating twice at Dejeuner in PN during our stay. Not only is the staff welcoming, they strive to make sure you are comfortable and your experience is extraordinary. Nothing is rushed. The wine selection is first class. Our first night’s choice was venison for my husband and braised short rib for me. We started with sharing a bowl of French onion soup. The soup was full flavored. The sourdough toast on top perfectly accented the soup. The venison was seasoned beautifully and cooked to perfection. The short ribs had very little fat and the gravy was heavenly. Tonight I chose Chicken Kiev and my husband had Pork Belly. The Pork Belly was slow cooked rendering the fat. The chicken had a tasty crust and was juicy, blending well with a sauce that completed th experience. We finished the meal with a glass of port that was the perfect ending of a beautiful evening.

Unassumingly incredible! First time trying Déjeuner tonight and was very pleasantly surprised. Living in Palmerston North I have been to almost all the available restaurants and Déjeuner is right up there among the greats (Provenance, Little Savannah, Nero etc). We had the quail, duck fat potatoes, Caesar salad, pork belly and an assortion of wines (a beautiful selection available). All were perfectly executed and the service was outstanding, one of the best in Palmerston North for service alone. Absolutely recommend and cannot wait to go back! **super highlight is the pork belly - To die for!!!!!**

Good food which was nicely cooked but not very exciting for the price you pay. In terms of cooking skill required for the meals, the meals are overpriced. You expect to get something you can’t cook at home for meals over $35 but this was not the case as the components of each dish seemed very basic. Won’t be returning unfortunately.

My sister and I ate here yesterday. The fettuccine arrived wi the chilli flakes all through it and it was not stated in the list of ingredients on the menu. The chef was kind enough to make another one without them however, when the second plate arrived it contained under cooked chicken. Also strange that the fettuccine didn’t have any mushrooms. Although the waiter was nice enough they didn’t offer any discounts.

This restaurant is simply awesome. From service to food to atmosphere. It has a slightly cafe feel but with clean simple elegance. The host is attentive, friendly and respectful. But the food is the star of the show. Our meals were all delicious with generous portions presented beautifully. Drinks were very fairly priced and wine was generously poured. I highly recommend this dining experience.

I had a fillet steak (med rare) which was cooked to perfection. My friends all had different mains and said they were very happy with them. I like that there are not too many options on the menu. Would definitely recommend this restaurant. PS There is a room below with a bar & tables/chairs that can be used for private functions (seats 30) which we took a look at. Perfect for a birthday dinner. Have a talk with the new owner/chef.

A disappointing start when our reservation was not booked for a double birthday celebration. Our waiter apologized for the mistake and endeavoured to fit us in. We decided we were going to leave but he offered our group a free drink on the house in the bar whilst he tried to remedy the situation which was not possible. We got quite comfortable sitting at the bar leaner and decided to eat our meal there. Im glad we did... we all thoroughly enjoyed our dinner and we also appreciated that the owner/chef came and apologised and asked if we enjoyed our meals. To be honest we did not know what to expect. Wow what a surprise! Very quaint place and the staff are so friendly and passionate about what they do. The food was absolutely amazing, so good in fact that I would say it is some of the best food I have had in a very long time and so reasonably priced too. The chef even serves some of the dishes and always has a huge smile on his face which is so cool to see. We really could not fault this restaurant at all, we will be back soon, and highly recommend that others try this awesome place! you wont be disappointed. Thanks Dejeuner!

Absolutely superb food at expensive prices. Be prepared to spend around $35 for a main meal. I had the fillet steak and my wife had the pork belly. We both agreed it was the best food we had ever eaten. Wheelchairs no problem.

A lovely place to enjoy a meal. Went for our anniversary. Pleasant service by the owner, who was very friendly and chatty. She gave us recommendations on our meals, which were well-represented. And delicious too! Scallops and house-baked bread (focaccia, but changes sometimes) for starters, with pork belly and ostrich for mains. No room for dessert (but would have gone with tiramisu), so we'll be back to try it. Thank you for the evening!

A friend and I had lunch at Dejeuner today. The menu had many dishes that caught our eye making it hard to decide what to choose. I finally settled on the burger and what a good choice it was. A thick juicy meat patty, crispy bacon, mushrooms, melted cheese, lettuce and tomatoes, accompanied with fries all beautifully presented . Excellent value at $23. My friend chose the fettuccini again beautifully presented and delicious. 5 star service. I highly recommend Dejeuner

Went because of web based details and not at all disappointed. Meals were not quite Haute Cuisine but were a close approximation and huge. Service person was great and anticipated our needs. I was really impressed when a) I ordered a 3rd glass of wine (they were more than standard measures) and they confirmed that I wasn't the driver b) they checked on the young person with us to ensure they were legally allowed to drink. Lovely waiting staff engaging and attentive. So glad we decided to eat here. It was a quiet Wednesday evening and latish when we booked. Dejeuner restaurant was a wonderful surprise. Or maybe not such a surprise, as the other reviews attest! The staff were friendly and interested to converse, the menu was explained and we were made to feel very welcome. Then there's the food... I enjoyed my scallops as an entrée, followed by the pork belly, which was tender or crispy in all the right places. My wife enjoyed her deep-fried brie followed by the succulent duck. Accompanying vegetables were nicely lightly boiled, and the garlic potatoes perfect. It's BYO and licenced, we had a Hawke's Bay rosé. Highly recommended if you're staying anywhere near Palmerston North.

FINALLY !! A Restaurant in this Hamlet worthy of a complementary Review ! The Food was excellent , The portion sizes were Good to Generous , The staff courteous and attentive , service very good. Atmosphere pleasant though not "intimate" as such. Why had we not been before ? My reason was that all to often in the past my experience of FRENCH restaurants in NZ was the NOUVELLE CUISINE Factor . Synonymous with" very small portion sizes, at exorbitant prices , and pay extra (again at Exorbitant Prices) for your vegetable accompaniment ". Not so here, Each main came with your choice of seasonal vegetables or salad and fries, All the portion sizes of each dish we had Were Good To Generous . including the seasonal vegetables we chose . We started by sharing the Sea food platter For two people , an excellent choice if you are a sea food fan. and the price we felt was a fair reflection for what we were served . My other half had the ostrich for the main which was really excellent, I had the Lamb duo ,Which was lamb rack plus navarin of lamb . Also an excellent choice. The choice of desserts was also Quite good tho nothing particularly exceptional , The apple crumble required a 20 minute wait which suggested it would be made fresh at the time .not a pre-made reheated Job. Unfortunately we were to full by then, even if we had been willing to waited . Will we be going back ? That would be an emphatic yes ! On the Saturday night that we dined, tho well attended, it was not overly packed out. which , given the dining experience we had just had , We found surprising as we feel DEJEUNER is Palmys best dining experience Bar none. Perhaps like myself others have been reluctant to try DEJEUNER , Due to that fear of the " NOUVELLE CUISINE Factor. My advice would be GO THERE ! Regards Felicity Ferret P.S forgot to Mention They are licensed , But are also BYO so you can save on the booze Bill by taking your own wine as we did. The booze is were we get stung by most restaurants who usually have a Minimum 100% mark up on the Booze.
