Went to Gaon tonight on date night and had an incredible time, not just because of the wonderful company but because of the delicious food and lovely staff. We had the marinated meat selection with beef and chicken and the meal was beautiful and interactive, it was a whole experience with the staff being so helpful when we let them know it was our first time with Korean BBQ. It may seem a bit expensive when just looking at tje menu but for the amount of food and the level of service it is actually very reasonably prices. We will absolutely be back and thank you for the lovely fun experience.

We got the meat party and the spicy squid. It was amazing!! The meat party for one was actually enough for two of us (1 man, 1 woman). The flavours were all so delicious!! The spicy squid was decently spicy as expected. Would 100% go there again! And very nice helpful staff.

Been here twice now, both times a great experience, had the beef and pork the first time and then the chicken 50/50 platter and wagyu beef the second time. Absolutely amazing chicken. Would recommend visiting this place with a couple of friends.

Literally one of the best restaurants I've been to. The Korean bbq experience was so fun, cooking it at our table. The waiter gave us a demo of how to do it and he came around regularly to ensure we didn't burn our meat and cooked it properly. I highly recommend this place.

What can I say - went to GAON last night as our first dining out experience in Palmy and what a great choice it was! The food was amazing and the service was timely and friendly. We had the meat party - you definitely get your bang in the buck back, the marinate was on point and the portion was generous, pity that I didn't get a photo as I was rushing to enjoy the food We also ordered fried chicken and spicy squid, they were just as nice Oh and the mocktails won't disappoint you either! Says me a big cocktail drinker but had to miss it due to breastfeeding. But it certainly saved my alcohol cravings - I reckon my mojito mocktail went well with the BBQ 😃 Food 💯, service 💯, atmosphere 💯, recommend to everyone 💯

1st time here but won't be the last! Food was fresh and very tasty! The prices felt high until the food was brought out and certainly value for money! Good menu with lots of choices and a kids menu as well. Decor was lovely, clean and the service was brilliant! Looking forward to my next visit.

Quick and friendly service, and definitely an aesthetically pleasing restaurant. The portions sizes are just right for me and my friends, but the menu items were pricey, especially the meat meals (where you cook it yourself). I understand that the charcoal grill is costly to the business, but considering the size of the grill and the amount of meat you get... it's still too expensive for my liking. Beautiful presentation of dishes, and you get 3 side dishes and rice with each order of a main. The gamjatang was very nice, kimchi jjim was also good. I have a feeling that the kimchi was bought(?don't quote me on this). The galbitang was average, and I feel like it wasn't seasoned as well as it could be. The jumulluck was also surprisingly too sweet! But all in all, it was a good experience.

We ordered 3 entrees and a beef and pork party for 3 and everything tasted amazing. Fun different experience with healthy food that doesn't lack on flavor. Everyone enjoyed and I'm definitely going back. A new favourite and highly recommend. They are very busy and the wait staff took a while to take our order and the drinks we ordered at the beginning of the night didn't come untill we had almost finished our main which is why I gave 4 stars otherwise great

Wow loved this place... Level2.5 restrictions, so spacing was in place thankfully otherwise I think you would not have been able to move as there were a few people in the place. We had a booking so no issues when we arrived, hosts were awesome lot of guidance and advice with meals as to what to order and how to use ones BBQ at ones table. Meal was great, will go back again.

OMG what an amazing experience. Anna warmly welcomed us and went through the menu and told us how the Korean BBQ meal works and took our order. Drinks arrived and shortly thereafter the BBQ was bought out and the chef showed us how to, what to and when to cook our dinner. It was so much fun with delicious cuts of meat and lots of some yummy side dishes and condiments. Another visit required next time we visit Palmerston

Authentic Korean BBQ just like we had in Japan. For dinner, get the set menu. We had the marinated beef and pork. 4 servings is a lot for 4 people. Start with 2 servings for 4 then add more. The Cass beer is a good dry beer. Floor staff are very friendly and helpful. Prices great. We’ll be back again and again.

The food is excellent: tender meat, great sauces, effective plating. The atmosphere is friendly and definitely family oriented; there are often multi-generational birthday groups, and very small children eating with their families (Gaon offers high chairs which they will whip into service without needing to be asked). Can't give the fifth star yet because I still have not managed to try the dessert. The serving staff are very slow to remove plates after dining, and even when I've asked for the dessert menu no one hads ever returned to take my dessert order. Even so, highly recommended.

Just finished a lovely meal. My husband and I were walking towards Chinatown. We felt like some Chinese food and I saw the sign $17 something buffet meal. I thought that was reasonable, and would be similar maybe to Chinatown. It said Korean but that was fine, although I was a little unsure. I said... We'll just have a look (not committing to anything) Went in, they were closing at 2, it was 1:30pm we were ok with that, and they were ok with that. Looking at the foods looked yummy. The place looked clean and tidy and very creative in it's presentation. Watching the lady took alot of pride in the presentation of the restaurant. It had pipes hanging which I thought was interesting and innovative and unique. I found them ery friendly and happy countenance. Also very helpful. I wasn't sure bout some things and the man came and explained things. I appreciated that. After the meal my husband found they have bbq, and teach people how to cook. Well done and thank you very much.

Wonderful experience dining at this lovely Korean restaurant. Meat party portion size wasn’t great but taste and quality of the meat was good. Dak gang Jeong was amazing. Service was lovely. Chef came out to guide with bbq cooking techniques. Would definitely recommend.

My family went to the restaurant lunch buffet on January 20th to celebrate my 16-year-old girl’s birthday. We really enjoyed the excellent Korean food compared to its price. All the food was really tasty, neat and proper. And, the staff who was welcoming customers in the hall made my daughter's birthday even more special. Thank you for her kindness.

Super friendly staff, good portion of food. Bbq experience is pretty good - not cheap, but still worth it if you want to treat yourself. Other dishes on the menu are fantastic- recently tried the half and half fried chicken the amount was massive! (At least for two people minimum) Made with chicken breast and thighs I believe, boneless too. Their Kimchi stew range is pretty nice too including the kimchi pancake 😍

Delicious. Highly recommend. We went as a large work group and had multiple types of the group platters, I shared the pork and beef platter. One thing if you do go in a large group and want to have different meet options, you are grouped by meal, not by who you want to sit with within your group, so plan accordingly. But Delicious fresh lettuce and awesome accompaniments to season your food. Will be taking the family.

Found this place when visiting friends. OMG it is the best food I have had in a long while. My partner devoured hers too. The menu is short and sweet, the food is really different and the service was top notch. The chef was kind enough to come out to each table and explain the way to best enjoy what had come from the very clean looking kitchen. We had three large plates of food and two wines and the account was under $70.

A bit slow to start off with the service, although the BBQ was super tasty and was enough for just 2 people. we decided to have dessert, the sorbet selection was yummy and refreshing, although the choco bingsu dessert was very disappointing, was literally just ice shavings, chocolate cereal and 1 scoop of ice cream, not worth the $13 we paid. the food was a little pricey for what you get, but was tasty and flavorful.

The restaurant is perfectly located at the square. Food is really good, tasty and healthy. We ordered beef and pork (no bbq) and they were plenty of veggies, no fatty, no oil although full of flavor. Place is clean and quiet. Modern decoration with a traditional touch. We love it. You'll have a very nice Instagram photos. The price is cheap. 1 starter, 2 main course, 1 beer and 1 glass of wine $70. I think it's a good quality/price. We'll be back to try the corean BBQ. It's the special of the restaurant, but it's just for dinner.

Need to book a table even on weekday. Very famous and busy place but the staffs are kind and nice. They open the restaurant exactly right on time. We were there 10mins before opening time on raining day but had to wait outside of restaurant. However, great Korean cuisine restaurant and food was good. BBQ and fried chicken are recommended! And must drink a cocktail Somaek which are soju and Korean beer.

Great place to go to share food with a group! The service was good and the food was amazing (The chicken platter in particular). The place was a bit too cold though (until we got our bbq grill for our main course).
