Great service and the food was amazing! Pork belly was succulent and delicious. Lamb rack was done to perfection and the desserts were a slice of heaven. Chocolate Crémeux and the special for the night, poached rhubarb with caramel mousse, ginger snap and Gelato. Pure bliss.

Everything from booking to the dining experience was a top notch. We could literally lick the plates and my son was a chef in the past in a French Italian restaurant in Tauranga when we used to live there said he used to have his coffee made by his boss exactly the same as we had in Nero. The combination of flavours and the presentation is worth every sing le penny you spent. And the atmosphere, service beautiful tables, walls seats. Everything you just have to experience for yourself. We lived it and will be there again. Wish I thought about giving a tip. So apologies for that we will be back and I promise to remember this next time.

We went there for a birthday dinner. The staff were friendly, professional with a great sense of banter. I had the duck pate as an entree and it was full of favour. We had the lamb and chicken for the mains. Beautifully presented and tasted just so good. All in all a great dining experience.

This is fine dinning and recommended for occasions only.. Went with a friend. And had 2 cocktails which were not worth it and avoid. Don’t think this is their speciality. Had their local selection which was very nice. The drinks bill was about 100$. Had entree as cappacio and this was so good tht we ordered another one. 23$ each. Angus beef fillet 45$ . This was very nice and delightfully soft. Also had their seafood special which was gurnard and left a little to be desired. 40$ I think it was. Duck fried potatoes were ok. 8$ I think For desserts had tiramisu and cream brûlée 30$. Approx each. They were very good and certainly recommended. Overal bil wth drinks was 290$ for 2 ppl

If you are after service which you can compare with a 5 star restaurant, then you should visit this restaurant. Had our family over from Tauranga and they loved it, our server Jazz was amazing 👌

Had a wonderful dinner out for my graduation. The staff went above and beyond to make sure that I had an enjoyable evening. They are one of very few restaurants that can cook lamb beautifully. The prawn dumplings for entree were delicious. The lamb as mentioned earlier for main was cooked to perfection. The Tiramisu for dessert was amazing and the right portion. Their specialty coffees on the dessert menu are highly recommended. Thank you for a highly enjoyable evening. We will definitely return.

Service was tops. Food was absolutely delicious no doubt about it. Perfectly cooked beef and lamb. The only problem was that we left a bit on the hungry side. We only ordered mains and sides (main $45+, sides $12) but felt a few more veges wouldn't have gone amiss.

Great variety on the menu and simply devine food. The staff are friendly and accommodating and the restaurant itself has great ambience. I had three courses and all were a very appropriate size, which was a refreshing change from the oversized portions of many other restaurants.

Neros is excellence. From the food to the service it was absolute perfection. Our waitress Yvette was very knowledgeable, friendly and efficient. The restaurant was very relaxed and we were made to feel welcome as soon as we walked in. The food was amazing.... the Amuse Buse on the house were delicious. We had the pork and the steak. Both were amazing and the meat was cooked to perfection. The desserts were also amazing. We had the sticky date, ice cream and sherry and chocolate parfait. All meals were perfect portions. All were amazing. I definitely recommend coming to Neros...... you won't regret it.

Amazing! Haven't been in a while, a few of the favourites still on the menu but have lovely new additions. Decor has changed again and gives it a beautiful ambiance. A group of 4 of us are here for lunch. All have chosen different meals and the discussion at the end was only an argument on who's was best. Would recommend the Chrispy chicken salad and the Blue cod although the blue cod would be an acquired taste with fennel and Caraway salad and the caraway itself is an intense flavour.

Pork belly and chicken breast are what I ordered. Fluffy and yummy. Each dish has a variet of flovors in one. You should try some of their specialties. They also have a lot of wine selection and beers, too. Craftbeer Hawke's Bay Porter Black Duck - I love it! Don't forget to save room for desserts. Brownie and sundae are recommended! Little sweetness and plate decoration are superb! Spent 2 full happy hours here, period.

This restaurant is quite consistent. Last time was 2 years ago and i had the same experience. The place is cozy, warm and privet. It is easy to fit decent number of people and still engage with them all. Food is tasty and service is outstanding. It might be strange, but serve a superb coffee! 😍😍

Great food and service but..... we were asked to come earlier to allow others dinners following us. Then we had to have dessert in the bar. Others guests were coming in and we heard lots of comments re tables not being ready. Its a growing trend and I'm not a fan of being rushed.

Place was nice.. Nice atmosphere inside the restaurant. The food was good but could have been a bit better I guess with the price. But the most uneasy thing about our experience in Nero was the hospitality. We were served by the lady who wasn't wearing uniform. She appeared quite cold and didn't make lot of conversation about food. What's more fascinating was throughout the service she didn't even ask us not once about our food and how it was. Ended up paying nearly $500 among 4 of us for the cheapest hospitality ever experienced in a fine dining restaurant. Do not recommend unless they improve attitude of their staff.

Superb! This restaurant been on my radar for a while and didn't disappoint. Friendly greeting on arrival and excellent service followed throughout the evening. The food was amazing and the wine list solid. The presentation of all the meals was great and the array of flavours on offer was top notch. It's at the pricier end of dining for Palmy but you get what you pay for and I definitely recommend.

Really nice place with delicious food. Yeah the price can rack up but I think it's super worth it for a meal out with friends and family. They don't rush you from your seat when you have finished your meal and they have us a free, on the house, hors d'oeuvre! Will defs be going back for any occasions.

Amazing food, caters for kids but I wouldn't necessarily say family-friendly. Waitress was lovely and the food arrived within good time from ordering. Definitely a place to treat yourself and friends/loved ones. My dessert (chocolate mousse) was an utter work of art, and fantastically flavoured. I was lucky enough to be able to try some morsels of my party's options and nothing was disappointing (spring rolls, pate balls, duck fat fried potatoes), which is a testament to the highly skilled kitchen team. Thanks for a wonderful dining experience, we had a lovely night.

Probably the best place in Palmerston to eat a steak. It is pricey but the meal is expertly prepared and cooked perfectly. Service was great and a great place for a special occasion!!So obviously a bit of a treat, but to be honest it wasn’t as expensive as I was thinking. We choose Nero for our lunch and it didn't disappoint. The crispy chicken was yummy and even though we were full it was just too hard to pass up dessert. The sticky date pudding was delicious. Gorgeous food! Didnt like the biscotti but everything else was was outstanding. We didnt notice the massive $90 or something steak on the menu until the table next to us received theirs. If you maybe advertise that more or the waitress could sell it more at service we would of definitely got one! It looked to die for. My favourite part of all bringing it to star 5 was the furry friend that gave me a big cuddle after dessert! He made my night! Nice staff and the owner is very interactive with customers. Had great reviews so on a day trip from Wellington we went for lunch. The menu was great - we all agreed we could have chosen any one of the mains.. The food was devine. The wine list comprehensive and not over priced. The service was impeccable and welcoming. A mixture of booths and tables mixed up the seating arrangement nicely. Not one of us was disappointed. Took my girlfriend here. Bit awkward because my wife was also here with a group of friends. Staff were brilliant and put us in a secluded corner where we could not be seen. Pretty sure i got away with it with help from the neros staff. 5 big stars. Edit. Apparently i wasn't as clever as i thought, as both wife and girlfriend were on to me. Neros still desereve 5 stars for the effort and food.

Having had the most horrid experience at this restaurant I was hesitant to return, however family wanted to go. In fairness the place has improved dramatically. Decor way better and staff way more attentive and efficient. Have to admit the food was never an issue on the previous visit. Sadly poor management and staff can spoil an occasion. We absolutely love the place. My husband and I had a great experience with our two kids. The kids had crunchy fried chicken from the kids menu and the batter coating was amazing. My rediciulously picky kids asked for more! We also enjoyed a few choices from their menu. The food was cooked to perfection and the chef catered for our dietery preference (no alcohol in our meals and so on). We had a wonderful host literally open the door for us. Nero is a comfortable but yet intriguing mix of flavours and decor. Attentive, knowledgeable front of house and wait staff will talk you through specials and make sure you have everything you need with out intruding. Now for the food; wow, the have created recipes that have obviously had time, effort and a huge amount of thought put into their flavour profiles and texture balances. We started with the duck pate, then for mains we did the half time change over on the duck leg and the angus steak, both melt in your mouth and the steak was perfectly done to the ordered medium rare. Desert was a rich and decadent tiramisu for myself and a licorice ice cream Sunday for my partner but we did get tastes of each others of course. The standout was the licorice icecream, I was blown away. It brought back flavour memories from days long gone by and was so well balanced and not over powering but also not lost in the cold as some tastes can be. Add one standard beer and a craft pilsner for myself and it came in under $200 for a really great night and foods that will be talked about in the future. Well done Nero.

Whenever someone asks me to recommend a restaurant in Palmerston North I suggest Nero's. It's got a good atmosphere, friendly and helpful staff and the chefs do a fantastic job, consistently. I go quite often and I've always had a great experience there. The portions are well sized and it's moderately priced. I went this evening in a group of four. One of the group started with scallops, done to perfection, and three of us shared a tureen of duck liver pate with gluten-free toast drizzled with olive oil. Yum! You'll have to go yourself to see how good the mains are.

My husband booked us in to Nero for our 10th wedding anniversary. The service was attentive without being obtrusive. The wait staff were very friendly and the atmosphere was beautifully set. The food and it's flavours were yummy and the portions were very filling and to top off a great meal between our waiter and the chef they added a candle and decorated our cannoli dessert plate with chocolate writing to recognise our Anniversary, and without any prompting - a beautiful surprise. We will visit again for sure and definitely be recommending Nero Restaurant and their wonderful service and amazing food!

My wife and I went to Nero a couple of nights ago and we really enjoyed it. It’s cosy and with the perfect atmosphere to relax with friends or family, and have a great dinner. We had the Bruschetta (and we really felt the fresh breeze of an Italian night), flavourful Duck Ravioli and an awesome beef fillet cooked to perfection. Every plate is not only a great combination of tastes, but also a sensorial experience: there’s spicy, there’s sweet, there’s bitter, there’s crunchy. Finally, we have to mention the desserts! We had a beautiful Crème Brule’ and a Tiramisu Cigar. The Brule’ was just great: it’s such a simple dessert but not that easy to be made properly. At Nero is also presented in a beautiful dish with warm colours such as orange, yellow and red. The Tiramisu is a fantastic revisiting of the (real one, with Mascarpone!) Italian Tiramisu. A big thank to Yvette, Scott and all their staff for the wonderful experience!
