J.My salmon is average. Pork belly and fish of the day are beautiful, especially pork belly, a must try. Friendly and prompt service, however there is a surcharge for credit card.

The food was delicious, all eight meals were exceptional.

R.It was an okay meal but higher end prices. Atmosphere and service were okay (apart from the asbestos ceiling). Menu was short, (not a bad thing) and drinks selection was rich on the wine side of house.

A.Service was great and atmosphere was amazing, with New York City loft kind of vibes. Had the filet mignon, wasn't too impressed to be honest. Huge portion is great but the meat itself was not. Wouldn't get that dish again, but may be open to trying other dishes if I return.
R.We went quite early in the evening, so the restaurant was quiet. Very nice ambience, and excellent service - friendly, professional. Food was really excellent and we would say it's among the very best in Palmerston North - it was our first time under the current management, and we will definitely go back, especially if we want a special meal. Not strong on vegetarian options, but there are one or two, and other possibilities which could be provided without meat, I suspect. Fortuately I do eat fish on these occasions, and that was great, but this is an area which could be worked on.
b.Fantastic service and equally fantastic meal. Great menu. Generous sized courses. Our group of 3 had no room to fit desert in. Beautiful decor. We will definitely be dining there again next time we’re in Palmerston North. Thank you for the wonderful experience.
F.We loved everything about this place. Although it might not look like much on the outside, the inside is beautiful. For a dinner with my brother had more of a funny setting which was lovely.This is a great place for a nice meal where you can rely on excellent service and great food. We did notice the garlic bread only had 3 slices for 2 people this visit. I’m sure there were four slices last time

E.Super trendy spot with great food. My husband and I stopped in for lunch on our way through Palmy. I had the soup, which was delicious and the creme brulee for dessert. Great service as well.
K.Mmmm mmm mmm!!! DELICIOUS. Went here for a Friday night out and loved everything we ordered. The portion sizes were impressively large for the quality and price of the food and drink. We started with two glasses of vino followed by the bruschetta and calamari. Both dishes were divine but of the two the calamari stole our hearts as possibly the best calamari we've ever had. It was perfectly tender and served on a bed of fresh salad with hidden parmasean morsels. The mains of the fresh fish of the day and duck leg were equally impressive. Our taste buds were in paradise as they danced with the spectacular balance of sweet and savory flavours throughout each dish. We finished off our feast with their cloudy chocolate mousse. Simply decadent. Finally, the atmosphere was cozy and modest placing Table 188 amongst our fav restaurants (The Fat Farmer, Aberdeen, and Nero) in the Manawatu. We can't wait to go back and try more.

K.Maybe I ordered the wrong thing as the reviews for this place on menumania are primarily great. I recently went for dinner with two colleagues, all of us anticipating "great". Ambience and service were fine, although we did have to continuously ask for water. A shared bruschetta entree was very nice and hinted at delicious mains to come. My friend's steak main was fine. My calamari meal (I'm semi-vegetarian) and my friend's vegetarian meal were not fine. Calamari was advertised as stuffed with olives, pine nuts, spinach, capers, and a couple of other things, but nary an olive, nor a caper, nor the couple of other things did I see, let alone taste. The occasional miniscule pine nut made an appearance. Primarily, the taste was rocket, as although the calamari was stuffed with some sort of spinach, the entire meal was smothered in rocket. I'm not a rocket fan, but dutifully munched away at my $24.90 worth of salad greens with the occasional taste of calamari appearing (not much of it on the plate), only just cooked right - I am a calamari fan, one more second would have taken it into chewy, so it was borderline. I was supportive of my vegetarian friend's disappointment with her 4 delicate pieces of perfectly cooked polenta for $34.90 accompanied by a gigantic pile of - rockety salad greens! As she said - it would have cost $3.00 to make the meal and she didn't come out to a "great restaurant" to eat undressed/or dressed for that matter - rocket.
C'mon Table 188, your vegetarian options are sparse, and not good enough. Bella's has just about the yummiest calamari dish in Palmy, and the dish I ate at Table 188 was nowhere near that league. If the calamari is advertised as stuffed please make sure diners can see the advertised stuffing, and taste it, because the description sounded great. Perfect polenta can be delicious, but serving it with a completely uninspired mountain of green doesn't compliment the polenta (and doesn't justify the price). Please be a little more adventurous. For the first time in my life after being at a restaurant I had to have some toast when I got home - I was sooooo hungry! I don't expect to come away full but I do want to eat something creative and tasty, that I don't mind paying for. A nice evening with friends but a very unsatisfying dining experience.
